Here is a message to those who want to start a band but can’t find anyone. You will find people. It’s a hard process. It can take years to find people. If you want to start looking, go to local shows and talk to these bands. Talk to the people who go to these shows. Chances are they will like almost the same music as you.

just started a band because of this dude. he didnt know how to play the drums but he learned by just messing around and eventually he got it and thats what im doing with guitar and its actually working out pretty well.

Me and two other friends just said fuck it lets start a band on Boxing Day last year. We have two guitarists, a drummer who has never played drums before and no bassist, we’ve been going for 8 months now. Don’t have a name, haven’t established a genre, haven’t wrote one full song, all we do is jam and improv random shit and have only just learnt our first cover a week ago. All that said this has been consistently the most fun I’ve ever had. We do it once a week every Sunday and I never want to stop. Even if we never figure out a name or write a song or get a bassist. Our plan now is to learn a set of covers of the next few months and then go to an open mic and play. You don’t have to be good or like the typical band, as long as you’re doing it because you think it’s fun then what does it matter.

I just love playing music with people, wether it's covers or just jamming around or anything, I feel so alive and genuinely happy playing music
this is kinda what im interested in, i dont really wanna be in a band but i really wanna jam with people. kinda hard cuz all of the musicians in my town are 50 year old dudes and im a teenager who picked up guitar just a year ago 😞

Most people love the idea of being in a band more so than actually willing to do the work to be in band. Trust me if you’re life’s calling is to be creating music with different individuals, you’re all ready putting it together now. Wishing for anything accomplishes absolutely nothing, just make it happen.

I was in a high school band, but we broke up for our own reasons... I still look back fondly on that time and wish I could do something like that again but I'm not great at meeting new people :(
I'm a musician, and I started to learn how to play guitar with Foo Fighters songs because they had "easy" chord progressions, not a lot of guitar solos, and that's what lead me to keep playing, form a band, write original songs, and Foo Fighters became my favorite band

I'm in high school now and see all these people in bands and I never had the confidence to start a band, I'm kind of not too great at saying "Hey wanna be in a band." actually a number of my music friends are already in bands and I don't know what to do to be honest
My advice to you stop putting labels on it get a few of ur music buddies around jam out and take it and let it progress naturally:)

Just ask people if they know people who play stuff, like say you're a guitarist, ask people if they know drummers and bassists and vocalists and then you'll find people

Starting a band sounds awesome
Man I want to start a band but I’m BARELY learning guitar like 2 weeks but have no one else to play with and I’m hoping one day I can find some people and not only be famous but make songs that get people moving again like System of a Down, Metallica, and Avenge Sevenfold funny thing is I already know a name for the band if I get into one it’ll be called Truth Syrum (it would be spelled like that too) and we would mostly write songs about how messed up the world is now

I was in a band called Prevention, because we hoped people would say we were better than The Cure. .
I’m a 56 y/o bass player and starting my first band. I have learned that getting on with people over the longer term requires shared values so I am being very careful to ensure that anyone joining has a similar outlook and that most importantly they are kind, respectful and prioritise fun over ego. Whether the band is successful or not, I want to spend time with people I like.

I grew up in a scene with one of the best punk rock bands, ever. However, I never managed to hook up with the right people. Thirty years later, I'm playing solo acoustic shows, and just competed something of a "Small World Tour" this summer.

i've played in numerous bands over the years. All of them broke up because nobody wanted to put in the hard work. They would all drink or Smoke pot before/during practise and forget the songs, too lazy to practise or just pretend we were gonna be big. When I would speak up, I would get kicked out of the bands. 2 days later, the whole band would break up because I was the only one who bothered to make it work. I got sick of dealing with this nonsense So I quit my dreams of playing in bands. I just write and record my own music at home these days. Probably too old to start a new band now (over 40) People like Dave are lucky in the sense, they were in the right place at the right time and met the right people on the same journey. Sadly, It's not the same for every musician. There is a lot of talent the world will never get to hear.

I chose music at school and I'm working towards national 5 (it's basically GCSE in Scotland), So I know a decent amount of theory. I play rhythm and I have a lead guitarist, we maybe have a bassist but I need to check if he still wants to do it. I mainly just have to find a drummer.

Nirvana was a once in a Generation type Band. That all but single handedly changed the course of Rock n Roll.. Akin to Elvis Presley of the 90s. What we know now is that Lightning struck that band twice with Kurt Cobane AND Dave Grohl.
I say "all but" because many of us contribute a lot of that movement to others like Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, Alice in Chains.

No one wants to play with me not because I suck at music but because I suck as a person. I jammed with many musicians, drummers, etc. No one wants to stay. So, now I'm making it with a bassdrum, a downtuned guitar and my ghostly voice. I still suck as a person but at least I can pursue my dreams.

I was looking for some pals around my age, and my brother’s age too, I was very surprised that lots of old pals started to attack with comments. Why did they get hurt? I don’t know, but maybe they wanna have rock n roll kidnapped. Nothing against mature guys but, cmon, I’ll be old too and that kind of behavior is not proper, specially coming from “adults”.
