To all the people that are here intentionally....U have amazing taste...and to all who are here by accident, you are very lucky.
Just saw him at red rocks! Unfathomable
@Ricardo Herrera Carbajal he certainly is
@@bobweir1713 you lucky man
It was about a 12.5 hour drive for us! it was MORE than worth it.
I pop by once a week just for my fix. Incredible performance. Seen Mark live this year and it was a dream come true.
Mark Knopfler is my drug of choice. Just listening to him is medicine. I always feel good after listening to him. He is quite the man.
So true! I always describe listening to him as taking a warm bath after a very long and hard day. Love it!
medicine, yeah - drug, well, in the face of the negative connotations with it: no
@@lorenzorenzmann6631 not real drugs, however music is like a drug. It helps us get relaxed or just helps us enjoy life.
It's a cycle but one of my few vices !
@@lisasaputo9177 I understand what you're saying :-)
I didn't discover this man until I was 40, but he and Dire Straits just get better and better.
Hes like a fine wine, mellowing and maturing with age. Hits just the right notes and just the right amount, never overdoes it. Singing in his now unique way, just enough. He could go on like this forever. Hopefully will!
u r bloody right,bro.
Mark is a fantastic guitar player and its really nice to listen to him playing and singing. The best to Mark.
Greetings from sweden on the 22nd of April 2023. /JB
I made almost the same comment elsewhere here, only you put it a lot better!
He is one of those people that understand that notes are only as important as the silences between them.
I have always said his genius is in what he doesn't play; kinda; God love this man.
Anes, true.
@@williamspain8135 , truth.
This is accurate my friend. He played the silence too well.
Well said. Cheers.
I'm only 14 years old, but Mark Knopfler is one of my favourite artists.
Welcome to our planet or our Universe, Dear Elia Bolzanello.
you have great taste :)
Your now 16 and I sure hope you have grown to love Mark and his music even more cause I sure did when I was 16,Best wishes on your journey through Life and may the sun always shine on you my friend 🇮🇪
Mark and the crying Fender..what a genius...the best composer of all time....
Thank you GOD for giving us such a musical soul
ive admired many guitarists through my 60 years but mister knopfler is definitely the most influential and watchable
Mark is a rare gem born on this planet. Bless him.
Your songs area drug that I inject whenever I see the Icon of UA-cam App. I am 23 but I don't know if this generation is going to realise that noisy songs and too much autotune won't survive as this type of songs that will surely last forever. I am glad I grew up in a family that used to play Sultan of swings and So far away... Mark Knopfler, you have stamped your mark in this world forever. Thanks for everything.
I'm 16 and i discovered mk and dire straits thanks to my dad who's a day 1 fan. His music is truly amazing
Im 19 same story :)
song still makes me misty eyed. god bless you mister knopfler.
What's wrong with me? When immersed in Mark and his incredibly talented musicians on YT my eyes usually well up and sometimes tears roll down my cheeks. If family are not around (like now) I weep when the music stops. But when listening to the same orchestrations on Spotify, I somehow manage to keep it together and feel joy. No other artist does this for me. Is it just emotional overload from feeling like I am in the audience?
Damn I thought it was just me
Thank you, Mark, you were part of my childhood and adolescence and now you're part of my adult life! With all your classics and also beautiful songs from your solo career, all the lyrics and melodies touch my heart! I'm going to take you as my favorite composer to the end of my life!
that's right, there's nothing more to add
your post touched my heart as I feel 1000% the same about this genius
There's nothing more to say! All the best! Moscow Russia

With the percussion I can hear the waves slapping against the ship’s hull as it plows through the sea on its way to America. Everything about this performance is perfect to me.
Yes, perfection. Except for the Woo Hoo from someone in the audience.
Then I'll go on the trailer and Lis.ok

Great comment, nailed it!
I can, too.
I've loved Mark's work for 40 years now and I believe I'll love it even more when I keep getting older.
What a fantastic songwriter…the morning tide has raised the capes of Delaware..come up and feel the sun.. a new morning has begun..
I'm a durham lad and i could sit and watch Mark noodling about on an acoustic all day. Superb
I worked with Mark at the Yorkshire Post when he first had a band.
A thoroughly nice guy.
That’s awesome!
Truly great. The most underrated musical genius of all time
Living in remote place , picking olives. Only entertainment was Greek radio. I fell in love with this song. Thanks for your company when I was so lonely
The strings of your guitar are whispers and your voice is sweet as honey. What a song, what an artist!
He’s a genius! Is this your favorite song?
Can’t agree more. I haven’t stop listening to a Mark since I discovered it three days ago… he’s amazing ❤
Probably my favorite song when I'm in a philosophical mood.
yes
Where the talent exceeds the limit, there is Knopfler.
I'm what's called a numismatist. I also deal in rare coins so I'm known as a coin dealer. But anyone with a few bucks can "deal" in coins but those of us who actually study history and use these little spheres of knowledge to do so are called numismatists and we are considered a notch above from a standpoint of knowledge certainly about rare coinage.
Mark Knopfler is a great guitarist and musician. In my opinion he is certainly Hendrix material but musically, lyrically, Mark is even on a different level than Hendrix or Clapton or even some of the classical guitarists, he's deeper, and he understands history and it's importance to study, like Telegraph Road, the Mason Dixon line etc. Mark if a "coin dealer" would be a Numismatist. and I would be honored to call him a fellow numismatist or coin weanie ha! Thank you Mark, your music will forever be in my soul, would just like to share a meal with you sometimes
Mark's passion during this most beautiful performance brings a tear to my eye. God has truly blessed us with this musician.
Amen 🙏
I give credit to the man and all his hard work to put up flawless performances like this ❤
Thats pure will and dedication. Abundance of talent too.
But all his own doing!
Dont discredit the man.
I grew up in WV, within a couple miles of the MDL where it turns south along the Ohio River. I probably crossed over this point a thousand times rarely thinking about the significance of it. This song sets me straight.
It was my fate from birth to make my mark upon this earth. I was a civil construction engineer and Mark made me realize that I did just that.
Who does watching It now 2021 ? ... Beautiful song ... !
Really; this is how history can and should be taught, as well as the poetry of a beautiful land, and a beautiful man...peace
Can you imagine a classroom full of say, eight year olds, reading the Founding Papers, and just laying back and listening. That would not be a boring class, and a room full of us doesn't hurt, either.
Omgoodness nice to listen to you, Dear🌘🇺🇦🇨🇦🌒
Da 40 anni ti ascolto. La tua chitarra ha ritmato i periodi più belli della mia vita. Non c'è giorno che non ti ascolti. Buona vita Mark
When you're very young and your favorite guitarist comes to be Mark Knopfler in DIre Straits (Alchemy), and years later you hear this comforting song, "Sailing to Philadelphia", and ten years later you read Thomas Pynchon's Mason & Dixon, and you return to "Sailing to Philadelphia" some years later and realize he's writing about that book. Oh, shoot, @MarkKnopfler has a big brain.
Danke Mr. Mark Knopfler! Sie sind ein Mega Geschenk! Sie berühren meine Seele sehr Tief!!! Greatings from Germany Rheinland Pfalz
His tone - his words - his musical excellence.
Such a great great talent.
Love you Mark
"How nice to see you all. How are you?" What an amazing man, so kind.
It’s addicting listening to him, always leaves one in a state of awe. Is this your favorite song?
Be careful of this click bait folks.
Love the style of brushes that the drummer used in this song I would class this as the best record that Mark ever wrote and performed with James Taylor the song is a master class on story telling, the song is based on a true story of two Englishmen Sailing To Philadelphia.
The two men have long been forgotten, They do not have graves to actually tell future generations where they are buried.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful!!!
Hey Mr Knopfler, I am not sleepy and I have no place for going to.
Hey Mr Knopfler, in my jingle jangle morning I'll come following you.
Hey mister Tambourine man!
To Greg
I miss you so much...it hurts.
Please be okay, surrounded by peacefulness and love.
This one's for you, Greg!
Always.

I'm 20 years old and i've been a fan of Mark for as long as i can remember. Such pure and raw talent and emotion.
It's a special thing being able to share this music with my grandparents who listened to it when it was new and still love it to this day. It brings people together, this is what music should be.
His piercing blue eyes full of disdain are aimed at reporters. He loves his music, his band and us! Every gig starts with a heartfelt "How are you?". Love him
It's a History lesson set the music🎶
Mark Knopfler is a great Songwriter

Grazie Mark, ti ho visto alla Royal Albert Hall, ancora sto sognando.
One of my favorite songs. It's sad that so many people these days have no appreciation for the lives that built the USA and the freedom it offers to all. My heart weeps for Philadelphia and what it has become.
Mark, patrimonio dell UNESCO!!!
I can't hardly explain what this man's music does to me, I'm crying from a sadness and a joy that absolutely overflows from Mr. K
Fake fake fake
Same here, crobilly. Same here.
I’ve read so many of these complimentary reviews, sad thy all resonate my feelings
about this iconic talent.
His feel for rhythm is sweet, if not genius
I love fully mature artists.
This world sorely needs mature artists
i just love it. play it over and over
I was turned onto Mark by Princess Di when she responded “dire straits” when asked who her favorite band was. Thanks Di !

The great Mister Knopfler often makes me cry with his creative genius mastery. Genius.
Always loved this song...and in 2020 even more grateful for it transporting me to a different place
Crazy year 2020, wasn't it? Continue to move forward in life though. Like MK says: "another day will make it clear, why your star should guide us here."

Such lovely words for the great musician
You really don't need Audible. Just listen to Mark Knopfler. He tells a story with deftness, capturing from the opening and holding you to the last page. Every song tells a tale, be it history, love, longing or loneliness. An artist of rare ability and we are grateful. Thank you so much, sir.
Mark, thanks from Ukraine!
It's beautiful!!!
Cheers to you from Russia🥰
Mes nuits d’insomnies, je les passe avec Mark, il adoucit mes peines, il me met en joie, cet homme est un génie et je l’aime tant
Bien d'accord avec toi!
J’adhere a ton propos. Je ne me lasse pas de Ce génie tranquille et humble depuis 1978…
Can't believe, I heard this song first near Wilmington, as I had passed Philadelphia on I-95 going down to Delaware. Had to pull up on the side of the highway, and take in the magic...! Truly felt a magical hand in that song being sung at just the opportune moment. I'm a trucker, and god bless, have heard songs that make my day in the most amazing ways...
Sonic perfection. "Now hold your head up Mason see America lies there, the morning tide has raised the capes of Delaware..."
If you go to Cape Henlopen State Park you can see where the ship would have anchored before coming up Delaware Bay en route to Philadelphia. I was there again Dec. 31, 2019, as the sun was setting on the old year...a Cape May-Lewes Ferry was outbound from Lewes (founded by the Dutch in 1631) to Cape May and I took a photo as it passed the lighthouse. Mark's song kept echoing in my head.
Mark, you are oone of God's greatest gifts. I appreciate you man!
story telling through song.....how lucky we are to be here....a lost art....thank you Mark and Company......
Rare emotions in complete disclosure
@@susanrichard1653 that, Susan, is a great line from a song you should write......" rare emotions in complete disclosure "..cool....
5:33 to 5:55 still remains the most amazing thing I've ever heard played live. This whole performance is wonderful but that moment, the passionate flute playing followed my Mark's amazing guitar lick still gives me the chills even though I've watched it many times now.
It is a nice moment, but the most amazing thing you have seen played live? Seriously?
@@TheYowzahowza Yeah, you got a problem with that dude?
Only a true MK fan would understand that moment. It's full of passion.
Yes, this and the end solo of are we in trouble he played in "A night in London" are the best things I have heard played live.
I say this whole song is the best I've heard live. Absolutely underrated gem
Sublime masterpiece. Lyrics and music show all the poetry of an immense songwriter. Thank you Mark.
Ohne Worte. Bin fassungslos..... bin mittlerweile 53 ,stand vor 30 Jahren schon vor ihm. Man kann das nicht erlebt haben.

Schönen Dank für die schöne Musik
Mark's and Dire Straits will always be the best music to exist to me. I love how Guy Fletcher is on the piano.
A million times and I can’t get enough of this piece! My legend thank you!
I love the fact that you can see tons of different languages in the comments section.
Makes me think how music is universal and touches different people from different cultures. Mark, you're the best! 😋
You’re one talented man !!! Your music helped me after I woke up from a coma after having knee surgery. Too much anesthesia I think. It was the only music that would help me relax enough to sleep. After waking I was up three days n nights in the hospital so I played brothers in arms mostly ,quite a lot. Thank you 😊

That is the most Beautiful song I have Heard in a Long Time, I am loving his Music thank you my friend for turning me on too his music
This evening with Mark Knopfler at the Atrium is for me one of the best stage performances full of finesse with a lot of soul
A lifelong fan...
'It was my fate from birth to make my mark upon this earth"You sure did Thank You!!!🎸🎶💃❤️
He most certainly did.
Very much enjoyed this. A top band in all parts with the incomparable Mr Knopfler. I especially noticed the great drumming, the constant brush on the snare, underpinning the performance. Lovely! 🌟🎶👍
I heard first time Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits sultans of swing in the radio) when I was 10 years old in 1977. Then I didn't known who the dire straits were, but the song impresed me too much. After some years in the early 80's I heard again "Romeo and juliet" (probably the best song written of all times) when I was 13, since then Dire Straits and MK were one of the best, some times Pink Floyd, some times Dire Straits are the number one, both are the number 1 & 2 for sure, my heart is divided by both.
Mark músico inigualable! ...hermosa voz y letras...y rodeado de músicos de primer nivel! Felicitaciones! Admirado siempre! Desde Bs.Aires Argentina, un Abrazo!
Merci Mark sublime
Love ❤️ him
Mark ho quasi 70 anni, oggi quando ti ascolto quasi quasi prendo sonno, ma ricordo bene quanta carica ci davi nel periodo dei Dire, purtroppo per tutti arriva il tempo in cui non hai piu' niente da dire
This arrangement is gorgeous...the drumbeats are the waves crashing on the ship's hull as it sails...the flute is the seabirds flying overhead.
A sublime musician that sings with no effort and makes his guitar talk. have been listening to him since Dire Straits 1st Album and I hope he never stops singing...
I accidentally came upon this song shortly after reading Thomas Pynchon's stupendous book "Mason and Dixon". The song perfectly captures the tone and story line of that great work and is superbly complimentary.
God.....what a beautiful song this is...its silence conquers my heart..Thank you Mark. You're just amazing..
My brother Paddy introduced me to Mark Knofflers incredible music.
I will be forever grateful.
Mark is a truly wonderful writer, singer and musician.
A real joy to listen to.

谢谢你(Thank you),Mark. I am from a village in China, and I just want you to know how much your music influences me. Your music touched my heart when I was first heard as a freshman at 17. Now I am 24, you know, your music means a lot to me, it encouraged and guided me what a person should I be, also makes me peaceful through all those years. As a young man, you much like a father for me, and I feel so lucky to hear your songs and to have you in this world. Finally, I will go to Cordoba to watch your music concert on 29 April, looking forward to seeing you. As others say, I want to say thank you again, and I love you.
