@JoonMichi It is actually a program offered by the US government to US high school students. I'm sure there must be other programs available to high school students outside of the US as well though.
I don't really know of any other programs like NSLI-Y because most other high school exchange programs don't go to Korea and are usually quite expensive. I did find a scholarship on CIEE's website for summer in Korea. They have a few programs for high school students in other countries too. Ayusa also has programs in a number of countries, if you are interested in some place other than Korea.
@564justinbieberlover OH YEAH,in a HUGE WAY.they are way stricter(the teachers)the students work harder.the teachers can hit the students if they are misbehaving and its okay.after school most students go to other afterschool prgrams and study all day and dont get home till WAY late at night(and im not sure if this part only concerns korean highschools)they have no summer break.just two weeks in the winter and they spend all that time studying for exams
Wow, this seems like fun! I'm actually going to highschool next year and I'm super interested in an exchange program! What is the program called? Because if it is offered to students in America; I'm in Texas and totally willing to go to Korea!
@reprojuben I think it isn't as popular for Americans to go to Korea. If you look online, the number of study abroad programs for China and Japan are huge compared with Korea.
oh yes i know KWOW! it's really good, i'm slowly learning korean, sometimes i'm trying to sing it so i can memorize it hahaha by the way, thanks for the tips :D
it's actually really easy. When you learn the basics like annyeong (meaning hello) or sarangheo(meaning I love you. lol it's not basic) etc... You will learn it really quick. I'm learning korean for 1 year now and I am well good at it :)
@JoonMichi I am a Canadian actually in Indonesia (student exchange) and I am in the program called Rotary. I know also AFS, EF (education first), ASSE :) Doing and exchange is the best thing that can happen to you, seriously!
like I said learn the basics first, how to indroduce yourself, how to ask someone for direction or something like that, learn the differnce between informal and formal, that's REALLY important, learn hangul, here on youtube you can find many videos where you can learn it, and watch as many k-pop dramas and movies and songs and pay atention what they are saying and try to memorize, also look up for Kwow, there are some pretty good stuff for learning korean easier, that's where I went to study. :D
Eng Subs would be good. I am sure the purpose of the documentary is so that other international students can see what they might experience and what they can do to become an exchange student.
@BroadwayBree So how long did you stay? And how much did your korean improve in that time? Also.. How can you go to KOREA and live on TACOBELL?!?!?! O_o I'm shocked.. ^^
@reprojuben it depends what you want to learn if u want to learn chinese you can go to taiwan taiwan is a good place to learn chinese and there are only a few americans here ask me more if u want to know more
@kawaii386 i know, isn't it? i think it's a good thing. i remember at one elementary school i went to in the U.S., the principle had us do a 15 minute stretch thing in the morning and told everyone (all the students and teachers had to be out there) they had large butts. lol...it was a newly built school...i don't know if that practice lasted though lol
Ahhh she must have been studying Korean since she was in elementary. :) My mom never let me go on walks alone when I was little so she definitely never let me go abroad.
@BroadwayBree uhhppp. theres a problem. a few actually. 1. my korean is pretty....amatureish. 2. im broke. 3. my mom wont let me leave the country. 4. ........yea. thats pretty much it. ^^
@witchgirl2795 its an all girls school. there arent a lot a coed schools in korea.. i mean there are some.. but even then the girls and guys are separated. haha ^^
She tried Chunggukjang.and I can sure say it can provide your body -organ & skin with the richest protein that mankind has ever composed. I personally experienced my symptoms of skin redness from allergy being under control as I took consistent amount of it.
i wanna be an exchange student for south korea or japan . tho my mom would never let me D: . if i were to tell my mom i wanna get into th exchange program she wouldnt let me . since the school year is almost over , i would be a 1st year in highschool since im am a 9th grader right now . . . :\ .
It takes 5 minutes to fly Mach 2 from Wonsan AFB to Seoul and slightly longer from the south to any NK strike range. NK have a massive emptive advantage over SK. The south have more sophisticated 21st century weaponry (just visit 전쟁기념관) but no city air defense or deployed arty. I just hope that SK ppl will start to reach out to NK ppl with love and compassion, I hope they will reunite peacefully and not continue to despise one another. No need for war!
I DIDN"T KNOW THEY MADE THIS!!! ahh in school i always kept my phone... lol they only thing i really didn't like about the korean high school was that it was never coed...lol i was boy deprived.. haha there were guy schools next to mine... i went in it once.. haha that was a riot ^^ (you aren't supposed to haha)
ohmygosh im imagining my teacher collecting my phone, id cry cause im allways texting 50 % of the time and sometimes calling people :D funny cause we have a no p.e.d rule in our school
@Onlygodknows1001 By Korean standard, she is rather large. Us Americans have already become so accustomed to this girl's size as normal. I've been to Seoul, the women there are pretty small compared to American women!
@BroadwayBree well, im self teaching.....its confusing though, when you cant ask questions. :( im 14. 15 in a week. :) oh my gosh i know.! :D i would do a lot of things to go to Korea. :/
@ChibiDr3amz probably because them koreans don't talk that much english xDDD so you kind of get in the habit of talking korean, since thats the only way to communicate.
I wanted to study there so bad it hurt until I heard that they study 16 hours a day... I'm planning on working there as an english teacher instead when I finish high school. :^D
You think this video would get a lot of hate if it were a Spanish or Black girl? You're kidding yourself. Some people might not care who it is that is attending the school. Some may even find it more interesting to see how they fit in or see how others react. I wouldn't get mad if it were any race.
background music is hilarious
no subtitles? ;--;
If you go on the NSLI-Y website they have links to some other exchange programs.
@JoonMichi It is actually a program offered by the US government to US high school students. I'm sure there must be other programs available to high school students outside of the US as well though.
Omg its so nice to see you on the korean tv brielle!
I don't really know of any other programs like NSLI-Y because most other high school exchange programs don't go to Korea and are usually quite expensive. I did find a scholarship on CIEE's website for summer in Korea. They have a few programs for high school students in other countries too. they had to play that song really? -___- she is not even that big
@chaebme i dont think its necessarily the fact that she moved, i think it just wants to show what its like in korea compared to america
her korean is excellent. it's very difficult language. i hope she continues to adjust and have fun!!
Youth for Understanding seems to have programs for all over the world and seem really reliable.
Is there a subtitled version? ... in English, of course!
Oh, I recognize her. She was one of the international students in 'Documentary of Korean High School'.
She looks so adorable. Wonder what she is doing now
Wow, this seems like fun! I'm actually going to highschool next year and I'm super interested in an exchange program! What is the program called? Because if it is offered to students in America; I'm in Texas and totally willing to go to Korea!
@kpopXanime The program is called NSLI-Y and it's offered by the US government.
@TheyCallMeAngiie Yes this is through NSLI-Y. You can ask BroadwayBree about it if you'd like since she's the one who went.
she's so sweet!
@reprojuben I think it isn't as popular for Americans to go to Korea. If you look online, the number of study abroad programs for China and Japan are huge compared with Korea.
열심히 하시는 모습이 보기 좋습니다~! 화이팅이예요. :)

@reprojuben It's easy to get around Hong Kong with just English. If you don't want to hear/read so much English in the streets, go to China or Japan
@Burikami Really?! I had no idea.. But I don't know if that's possible for me, I'm not very motivated when it comes to school. :/
she is really cute speaking korean, I'm glad the teachers are treating her equally.
@Jetaemin Depends on how good you want your grades too be. Theres western schools there too that teach with western curriculum's.
like I said learn the basics first, how to indroduce yourself, how to ask someone for direction or something like that, learn the differnce between informal and formal, that's REALLY important, learn hangul, here on youtube you can find many videos where you can learn it, and watch as many k-pop dramas and movies and songs and pay atention what they are saying and try to memorize, also look up for Kwow, there are some pretty good stuff for learning korean easier, that's where I went to study. :D

Ahhh she must have been studying Korean since she was in elementary. :) My mom never let me go on walks alone when I was little so she definitely never let me go abroad.
envious T_________T can you give some tips?
A lot of the bigger Universities have study abroad programs.
@BroadwayBree uhhppp. theres a problem. a few actually.
1. my korean is pretty....amatureish.
2. im broke.
3. my mom wont let me leave the country.
4. ........yea. thats pretty much it. ^^
Do you have to know the language to do an exchange program?
@witchgirl2795 its an all girls school. there arent a lot a coed schools in korea.. i mean there are some.. but even then the girls and guys are separated. haha ^^
@TheyCallMeAngiie Yes this is through NSLI-Y.
I sorta guessed~ But you can't tell a person's tone in the interwebs. Sometimes you might offend someone and I didn't want to do anything unnecessary.
@JSoyeong
but it's too long.
8~10cm up from knees is the best length for me.
She tried Chunggukjang.and I can sure say it can provide your body -organ & skin with the richest protein that mankind has ever composed. I personally experienced my symptoms of skin redness from allergy being under control as I took consistent amount of it.

I saw her in another documentary too :P
omg Lee Seung Gi in the beginning of the vid! he's so cute!
It takes 5 minutes to fly Mach 2 from Wonsan AFB to Seoul and slightly longer from the south to any NK strike range. NK have a massive emptive advantage over SK. Hi, could someone translate the ENTIRE video for me, thanks.
*runs out of classroom screaming* YOU CAN NEVER HAVE MY PHOOOOOONE!! lol
Please add English subs!!! It would be quiet helpful :)
School over there looks very cool..
Such a pity there's no english sub. I'd like to know what they're all talking about. :( At least, thanks for sharing.
3:03 they should do that in American classrooms too. Maybe students would do better in school.
I DIDN"T KNOW THEY MADE THIS!!!
ahh in school i always kept my phone... lol
they only thing i really didn't like about the korean high school was that it was never coed...lol i was boy deprived.. haha
there were guy schools next to mine... i went in it once.. haha that was a riot ^^ (you aren't supposed to haha)
this is so cool!! i want to exchange in Korea
I know c:. I was being sarcastic since they don't seem to know the difference between South and North Korea.
She's so pretty
ohmygosh im imagining my teacher collecting my phone, id cry cause im allways texting 50 % of the time and sometimes calling people :D
funny cause we have a no p.e.d rule in our school
Yup.
@Onlygodknows1001 By Korean standard, she is rather large. Us Americans have already become so accustomed to this girl's size as normal. I've been to Seoul, the women there are pretty small compared to American women!
subtitles please!
@BroadwayBree well, im self teaching.....its confusing though, when you cant ask questions. :(
im 14. 15 in a week. :)
oh my gosh i know.! :D

dang, her english is good!
here is a question, how long did you practis your korean? 2 years? :o
she's in south korea...
whats song name?
im so happy i dont need subtitles cuz i know koreAN!!!!
@ChibiDr3amz probably because them koreans don't talk that much english xDDD so you kind of get in the habit of talking korean, since thats the only way to communicate.
@bluespirit212 there's nothing to do with the lyrics lol most Koreans don't even get that
Technically, Yasmin, it is America. :P South "America" and North "America". There's a reason those are called "The Americas" in history books.
So if you exchange, you live with the other persons home?
@reprojuben Actually for American, Japan or S.Korea are far better choice.
what the heck are they sayin one question are they schools different from america schools
Wish there was subtitles ;__;
I feel like the US really doesnt care much about us students.. They actually have a lunch meak nd the gym is awesome
I wish there were eng subs on this :(
I wanted to study there so bad it hurt until I heard that they study 16 hours a day... I'm planning on working there as an english teacher instead when I finish high school. :^D
sorry to say only ones who have qualifications of 4 years university graduate can be an English teacher. here in korea
I always wonder how an exchange student can be there for one year and know the language so well..
This is cool. Wish I knew how to speak Korea.

Eh... this where she lives (or lived) is where I lived in Korea before coming to America o.o...
that girl is lucky but why is the beginning song so...??
Try r all 2nd year high school students right?

Try Rotary. They're starting to exchange to Korea.
Oh my gosh....freshly cooked food...unlike the cafeteria, processed food we get here in the U.S.

You think this video would get a lot of hate if it were a Spanish or Black girl? You're kidding yourself. Some people might not care who it is that is attending the school. Some may even find it more interesting to see how they fit in or see how others react. I wouldn't get mad if it were any race.
It's because she is considered 'big' in korea.
