Vote. If this is possible , I would love to just see the opponent view directly after watching these vids. Seeing how confusing and insane it is from their POV would just be so hilarious.
Im surprised anyone played that one. It was really unique with the whole need to build bridges to attack. I also liked multi but was a pain to find ppl to play with.
My guess for game 1 is that your opponent tried to be greedy because he thought you already 3 bases up when you killed his scouting overlord at 4:10. That's why when you moved in with your Cyclones, there no units to be found. 😂😂😂
Oversaturated second and nearly completed third base should mean terran has like no units and low tech, yep But actually it was just oversaturated main and nearly completed second LOL
Hey! Older gamer here, I never played Warwind but I’d pretty much watch any of your RTS content because it’s all been enjoyable. The oldest RTS games I remember playing were Warcraft: Orcs and Humans and Dune 2.
C&C here, mostly Generals. Later Dawn of War. Today I mostly play TBS because I've come to enjoy a more relaxing way of gaming (and my APM is embarrassing 😟). What I have most respect for in your videos is that it takes you 42 milliseconds to look at an opposing army, get their exact amount and composition, weight it against your assets and adjust your microing to have an advantageous trade. Stunning and entertaining! Cheers!
Nice, the Bongcloud returns! I was watching some old replays and finally remembered where i saw this strategy before. In 2014 there was a Heart of the Swarm map called "Habitation Station" - and there some terrans flew their starting CC to the gold that was right next to the main (way less workers back then, so the economy was not hit that hard in terms of absolute minerals lost). The original Bongcloud ;)
I've never heard of Warwind, but I've played all of the Command & Conquer games. While not tehcnically the first, C&C is largely considered responsible for the rise of RTS as a game genre. You were talking about the charm of old rts games, C&C Red Alert 2 still is incredible and there are are a number of people including a couple youtubers that play it competitively.
my first singleplayer Dune 2 (amiga gaming) my first multiplayer was Starcraft 1 most of RTS I played was from Westwood Studios: Dune 2000 Red Alert 2, C&C Generals, Tiberian Sun (from most loved to less) also some Warcraft 3 Warhammer40k dawn of war (but only 1st)
April Fool's day idea - intro a cast about SC2 patch just released, and play a game of SC1 with one of your SC2 challenge strats that can be replicated reasonably well :) And the CC fits on the 3rd
Starting with the perfect name for that strat, i feel this is the ultimate uthermal build , it reflects your humor and the pure psyop nature of that build is fascinating to see in effect. 10/10
Speaking of old RTS games.... I got started with the old Command and Conquer games on PlayStation as well as "DUNE: The Battle For Arrakis" on SEGA. Probably rented DUNE from the video store like 20 times, probably could have bought it 3 times over.
"It doesn't really work very well, but it has its own charm"..... That's SC2 without content creators... We love you. And the other content devs. We follow maybe 2 of them too!
I'd love to see you play other RTS games. It could actually be a series of you trying out new RTS games for the first time to see how you approach them :)
Thermal, I started watching your videos a week ago and really started to get interesting in SC2. I picked the game up 2 days ago and watched your Terran 3 rax 2 base beginner build. I practiced it on AI until I got to very hard then started playing online. I couldn’t believe I got placed in Gold 1 and am winning games in gold after 2 days. Already learning the adaptations and I’m addicted to the game. Can’t wait to go through the whole Terran school series! Love the content and challenges. Keep it up man.
From what i remember, i played: C&C Series, Sc and Wc series, total annihilation, dawn of war series and lesser known ones like kknd and netstorm. All games ive sunk hundreds of hours into and have fond memories of.
I'm pretty old and I remember playing lots of rts in the 90's: warcraft, dune, kknd, c&c, red alert, age of empires etc, but this is the first time I'm hearing about War Wind.
I haven't heard of Warwind, but I would LOVE to see you play it! Your story also reminded me of an RTS I played as a kid, Star Trek Armada. At the time I didn't really understand what I was meant to do in the game, but I'd love to see it played properly after all this time haha.
I only know of WarWind because my dad played Warcraft and when he asked the gameshop guy what would be similar he showed him Starcraft. My dad didn't like how futuristic it looked, so the guy showed him War Wind after that. My dad ended up buying both that day. I never tried WarWind, but I fell in love with Starcraft.
The first RTS I played was Warcraft: Orcs & Humans. I was a nerd that read Dragonlance novels lol. I still cannot believe how good you are at improvisational play.
Warwind - never heard about this game, and probably not the youngest gamer. Glad to see that bongcloud returns, because it means Sky Terran might return at some point. One more thing - have you ever considered doing a crazy strategy on maps with golden minerals: proxy one base all in into bongcloud near golden minerals. The idea is you proxy near golden minerals, you all in along with scv's, and meanwhile you fly your CC into golden minerals. In your all in you micro back almost dead scvs, and if your all in fails you still try to fight on a golden base you have. I just though it sounds crazy enough for you to try it.
Love to see the OG challenge return!! The mindgames and how shockingly far this went were two greatly memorable things about this challenge. 😂 That hidden base was DISGUSTING 🤩👏
@@OldGregg253check out Beyond All Reason - it's basically a TA remake in the Spring engine (it evolved from TAspring, actually) - you might also be interested in Zero-K, Supreme Commander, or the total annihilation mod Escalation
Lol I thought this referred to Chess for a sec (Chess has a meme opening called the "Bongcloud" opening.) Wonder if there's a Starcraft-Chess demographic in the audience here lol. EDIT: After seeing the challenge - it is ironically similar to the Chess Bongcloud! In Chess you use your second move to move the king to a dangerous square while also impeding your own pieces (Basically slowing down your progress and inviting unnecessary risk) EDIT: EDIT: So it is a Chess reference haha, thanks uThermal for clearing that up, cool to hear you're into Chess too.
Me and one of my closest friends are chess enjoyers, originally we gave the name 'Bongcloud' to another meme build but then we realised how perfect THIS build was for the name Bongcloud. Then I started my first X to GM Series :P
@@uThermal Ah, awesome lol. It really is a 100% spot on name! Even the actual motion of the base lifting up is perfect lol. Love it, thanks for letting me know.
The 4th can also be protected by one location too, lol. It has two entrances but they're so close together that siege tanks between them can actually cover both

This is so dumb, i love it 😂 Floating your main CC to your expo from the start, is like forcing the Firedepartment to use tap water to put out your house fire
Series rec: I think it would be so awesome to see thermy try playing with the Scion custom races! They’re legit so well done and all have some really interesting mechanics and units. Freakin love the Terran like one has essentially bombers and you can do actual bombing runs! Haha
War wind was dope. Imo Other cool rts from 90s-early 2000, (besides c&c of course): KKND, submarine titans, dune 2000. Also, there was this Korean starcraft ripoff. Atrox it was called I think.
All of those are great. Worth mentioning warlords battery, total annihilation, dark reign, original war, battle realms, stronghold, age of empires, galactic battlegrounds, the list goes on . . . Submarine Titans!
Never heard of warwind, but when I was a kid my friend and I rented Dune 2: battle for arrakis for sega Genesis. I’ve heard that that may have been the first RTS.

I think the Cyclone needs at least +1 Range to it's Lock-on Range, but keep the Range the same for getting locked-on, so you still have to risk alot to get the lock-on, but now the cyclone can kite more effectively. I think a late-game upgrade (Requiring Fusion Core), maybe kind of expensive or long-time research, but gives a +5 or +10 Damage to "Armored" targets would allow them to be useful later on.

Yes please highlight some of those quirky old games that you've enjoyed! Interesting to see where the genre started
"Guys I've been playing this game and made a really silly build" I'M HOOKED
Probably the most niche old RTS I played was called NetStorm: Islands At War. It was pretty awesome

There is exactly ONE place where you can fit a command center in the third in this map, figured it out yesterday.
I do remember War Wind! And I'll have you know I'm not 50! (I'm 42)
I'd love to see you play War Wind. The nostalgia would be real.
Thanks, Marc, for giving me the chills with your videos!

artosis just played dune 2000 on stream the other day lol
Total Annihilation was the first RTS for me. So many good memories of that one.
Amazing game. I still play it from time to time.
Warwind, that takes me back. The hardest part of that game for me was getting it to properly load on the ancient PC I installed it on
