Yep. The normal skin is the makeup. Just like you saw in Killing Joke, that white stuff isn't making. Joker's skin is bleached white from the Ace Chemicals incident.
Of course he wasn’t a failed comedian with his life fallen in the dumpster like in the Killing Joke. Here he was a monster before the accident, so a piece of crap before meeting Batman.
If you remember "Mask of the Phantasm" movie, Joker used to work for gangsters before having a little dip in a chemical vat. This show never goes into full detail of his life and origin but takes inspiration from the 1989 Batman movie.
This episode was the first debut of one of the most hilarious and silliest villains in comics, The Condiment King, who also officially became a canon character in the comics. He's also one of my favourite DC characters just because of how outlandish he is. Fun fact: The three comedians who judged Joker and turned in these silly villains were originally based on real-life comedians. Condiment King was based on Buddy Packett, Pac Rat was based on Jerry Lewis, and Mighty Mom was based on Lisa Lampenalli
I never saw the Condiment King as hilarious. He's tragic to me. He's not even a villain, he's a victim. In this, he's a victim of mind control, and in the comics, at least in his first comic appearance in Batgirl: Year One, he's just a victim of...life in Gotham. People don't need saving from the Condiment King; the Condiment King just needs help.
@@Swenglish Huh, yeah I guess so. Honestly Condiment King in retrospect is sort of a victim of Gotham and how it can bring out the worst in people through unconventional persona's. I feel like a lot of Gotham C/D-List villains like Condiment King, Kiteman, Killer Moth, Polka-Dot Man etc... all are sort of losers and victims that were forced or chose to become criminals to fill an empty void.
You're right, the Joker, just like Batman, is a Great Master of Disguise, the Joker can disguise himself so well that he can infiltrate any environment without anyone thinking he's there. A clear example of this was the Batman: Endgame arc when he used the pseudonym Eric Border, a psychiatrist from Arkham who became a good friend of Batman, this was the Joker's ability to easily deceive and manipulate people, even Batman.
5:15 fun little fact, this episode takes place around the same time as the episode the riddler’s reform which is why the ad is playing in the background which means that Batman and robin are dealing with both the riddler and the joker at the same time.
13:07 - 13:09/ You're actually right regarding the Fallon reference. The theater marquee was modeled after the famous Radio City Music Hall design. You always see it in the opening credits to Jimmy Fallon's THE TONIGHT SHOW, a nod to the studio being located a block away from Radio City.
Ohhhh Condiment Man, this villain is technically harmless, he is one of those criminals that exist only to call atention. 9:45 remember that Joler was thrown to a chemical tank, so his mental sanity and skin changed forever
We already saw Joker's origin in Batman: TAS. He was a member of Sal Valestra's mob in Mask of the Phantasm. We don't know exactly how he got deformed in this universe though.
@@passionsquietrage I don't believe it is the same universe. Joker and Penguin both died in their movies, and Catwoman has a very different personality. The tone is similar but the details are different.

Batman the Animated Series is the best and they really have a lot of special guest villains from Batman's rogues gallery of enemies in it most especially with the Joker of course.🦇👋👋🦇
There's only two episodes left, plus the Sub-Zero movie in this art style, if I'm not mistaken? Agreed, makes sense to finish that before hitting World's Finest or the "New Adventures" continuation.

Yeah The Killing Joke is canon & in New 52 Barbara was able to walk again thanks to some medical science stuff, and even though it felt so far fetched, they needed a reason for Barbara to return as Batgirl. Even though they had a popular version with Cassandra Cain, but then they fu*ked up her story by turning her into a villain which didn't make sense.
Some people think Killing Joke started off as a "What if" but it was always considered canon. Some people think that it's the story that retired Barbera Gordon's career as Batgirl, but actually there was a story beforehand titled "The Last Batgirl Story" which ended with her giving up the mantle to focus on her normal life.
4:11 Really? He is the "Pack Rat"? The Killing Joke isn't considered canon. But through the years the canon stories have taken many parts of it. The Joker's origin story isn't in the canon but the part that involves Jim Gordon and Batgirl/Barbara Gordon is.
DC has basically made it canon that the Joker has no "official" origin story, giving him a multiple choice past. He says this outright in The Killing Joke, where his disassociation from his past caused him to remember it in a variety of ways. Heath Ledger's Joker referenced this in his inconsistent stories about his scars. All that being said, the Joker from the animated series was basically confirmed to be a former hitman for the Valestra mob, as seen in the Mask of the Phantasm. But that still leaves a lot of unanswered questions about his background.
"Who is the Joker?" Well, you see who he used to be before becoming The Joker in Mask of the Phantasm (and then a small brief glimpse in the Season after this from a documentary).
The joker's main thing is that to him, EVERYTHING is a joke. BUT his origin, his real self (maybe) always hinted at him being a failed comedian, his ego doesnt allow him to anyone take his spot.
also, is not that the joker is pale.. the chemicals where he fell burned his skin and made it permanently white and his hair permanently green..also (depending on the version) it may have melted his face stretching it a bit more
I thought you were already finishing The Adventures of Batman and Robin but there's still one more season. But as it only has five episodes, it's as if it's already finishing. Don't forget that next comes The New Batman Adventures. I recommend you read the comic book entitled Batman - Mad Love and Other Stories. It is the reunion of several comics made by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini for the 90s comic called The Batman Adventures. Some of these stories were adapted for TNBA.
the make-up removal is an homage to the batman 89 movie and this was a simple revenge arc for joker since he didnt register making a new persona and took the stage he didnt get to do his act and win all he wanted then was revenge
This universe is the same universe as the Michael Keaton movies(at least in the beginning it is anyway), so we know exactly how Jack Napier became the Joker.
"is the killing joke canon" yes.. no..maybe, i mean..joker says it best "if i have an origin, its multiple choice." so the killing joke maybe one of his Potential origins.
MegMage Reacts just in case you're curious The Condiment King's somewhat 1 of Alfred Pennyworths biggest/worst fears/nightmares mainly because the special Condiments he shoots/sprays are extremely difficult/nearly impossible (will take weeks/months or even possibly years) 2 clean them off of the Bat Suit little low anything else 4 that matter so 4 Alfred's sake Bat's is having 2 face off Condiment King as little as possible in the comics!
I have the Killing Joke on DVD. The second half includes The Joker. Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy make a great pair. If you know who The Joker is watch Batman Mask of the Phantasm animated movie you will get your answer.
