I am actually a kid myself, and I noticed that I was blinking a lot and very hard, I think I have dry eyes because I spend all day on the computer because of online school so I don’t know how to fix this, what should I do?
Normally, the simple solution is to limit screen time. However, if online learning is unavoidable, then you can start by trying to blink more regularly and fully while on the computer rather than reflexively from dry eyes. Adjust screen brightness to preference and try to adjust screen so there are no glare spots (e.g. from window or overhead light) to further irritate your eyes. As mentioned in the video, if your child's excessive blinking is worse with staring activities (including TV and mobile phone use), then the excessive blinking is likely due to dry eyes. We tend to forget to blink when we are too focused on the screens. Take it as a signal to have your son take a break from screen viewing when that happens! Too much time spent on focusing at near is linked to the increase of nearsightedness in children. You can learn more about this topic in another video of mine: ua-cam.com/video/GhvmWWp760w/v-deo.html

As mentioned in the video, dry eyes is by far the most common reason for excessive blinking in kids. If possible, cut out all screen time for the next few days and see if the excessive blinking goes away. If it doesn’t seem to make a difference, bring your child to see an optometrist for further assessment.
My son started blinking his one eye after going to the beach. I tried rinsing the eye with saline but it still persists. Eye dr can’t see him for months…
It’s uncommon to have to wait for months to see an optometrist. If by “eye doctor” you mean ophthalmologist, I would go see an optometrist first. You should get an appointment sooner and they also have the means to check for the cause of the excessive blinking in your son’s eye.
Richelle, did you figure out what the cause was? My son has the exact same issue!!! Went to the beach and he complained of sand in his eye, then excessive/strong blinking in 1 eye began. Now it's both eyes, but most strongly in the same 1 eye it began with. We have an appointment with an ophthalmologist next week. We are pretty concerned 😔

My 3 year-old son is blinking excessively just this January of 2021. We are thinking that it may be because of excessive using of digital devices that he has experiencing dry eyes. But when I see your vid that one of culprits of excessive blinking is inverted lashes, then I'm thinking that it may be the reason. My son was diagnosed with entropion or inverted lashes when he was 8 months old. We were given eye gel back then. We thought that his eyes are okay now since it has been years. Does entropion go away on its own?
Sounds like it’s time to take your little one for a comprehensive eye exam! Better not to assume or speculate. A simple check up will clear things right up 😉👍🏻
I'm worried as my 8 year old has started hard blinking. Went to optometrist and said no problem. But he is still hard blinking with sometimes doing a little twitch. We have stopped his watching tablet to see but he still does it while he is just sitting there not doing anything. What should I now do
Depending on where you are from, it could be winter like it is in Canada now. These are the dryer months because we are cranking up the heat while we’re cooped up indoors. If you see dry skin on your body, you can assume there will be some effect on the eyes as well. Decreasing screen time is good; don’t let that go out of hands as it will only make the blinking worse regardless of the cause. You can consider having your child use artificial tears 2-3 times a day (as you would put lotion on your hands if they are dry). A humidifier in the child’s room or work desk could make a difference. If all these don’t help, return to the optometrist (or perhaps a different one) and seek further assistance.
@@harishachillal5410 hi. As soon as it came it went away. We didn't do anything different He does not do the hard blinking or the twitching now. Keep an eye on it. Hope your little one gets better
If you are sure that you only blink frequently when you talk, then the blinking may not be due to an eye issue. Just to be certain though, I would still recommend an eye exam to rule out causes stemming from the eyes. If all looks normal, then it may be something to bring up to the family doctor for further assessment.
There was no screen time in my childhood, there only was 3 channels on T.V.and no computers. To help your sister, we first have to diagnose the cause of her excessive blinking (i.e. nervous tic or ocular cause). Rule out an ocular cause by having a comprehensive eye exam with your optometrist. If nothing is found, then ask your family doctor for further assessment and advice. One thing you can also try in the meantime is to point it out when your sister blinks excessively and ask if she realize why and how she feels as she does it. These observations will be important in helping the doctors diagnose her problem.

Try to have a serious conversation with your parents about this. Now that you are 14, you are much more capable of communicating your struggles than younger kids. In fact, tell them exactly what you mentioned here. They may not realize it affects you this much. Start by asking for an eye exam 👍🏻
It all starts with having a thorough checkup with the optometrist. Let your parents know how much your excessive blinking is bothering you and have them setup the optometrist appointment for you.

My baby just started doing it since few weeks . Doctor said it normal but she said it could be eye allergy . Doc told me to put eye drops . Still same nothing change. Help me . I cry every day when i see her face . I could not handle it . Help me . Give me some idea where should i go now 😢😢
If the doctor who recommended the eye drops is an optometrist (i.e. eye doctor), then return to him/her reporting that the drops are not effective. This will help them troubleshoot the real problem. If you haven’t seen an optometrist yet, then bring your baby to one to assess the problem. Finding the cause is the first step 👍🏻
I saw pediatric eye specialist . I m sorry i m confuse little bit. I started giving her refresh preservative free eye drops . Today is her 4 th day with medicine.
@@lindawan4115 I recommend letting the eye specialist know the eye drops aren’t working. This will help them decide what treatment to try next.

My baby is 2 years old.. he is blinking his eyes while looking in tv or mobile phone.. sometimes he rubs his eyes... Does he need spectacles in future... ?? I'm very much worried about this.... Please reply....
Love it. Thanks.
Very informative

I'm not a kid but I got a mannerisim of excessive blinking.. Help.. :(
Kid or not, I would still start with an eye exam first 😉 It’s part of the process of investigation and elimination in finding the cause of the problem. If ocular causes are ruled out, then ask your family doctor for means of referral and further assessment.

My 2 1/2 year old started yesterday blinking hard and rolling her eyes unintentionally. What could cause this? I’ve been freaking out since noticing this
Same case with my daughter. 3 days ago i notice her hard blinking. I reduce the screen time In her tablet. She was also 2 years old. Hows your child?is she good already?
@@janinmagno8929 we reduced her screen time as well. Dr. Felt like it was more allergy related being that she would rub both eyes afterwards and she feels like the eye roll was her trying to lubricate her eyes she instructed me to give her childrens zyrtec once a day for a week it’s been a week and no improvement. I plan on calling again today. No other symptoms is normal with everything else. Dr wanted to rule out seizure and praise god nothing was related to that. Thx for asking and responding I’ve been super concerned. How’s your daughter?

what should I do to at least reduce him from doing that. I am a young mother who is very worried about this problem. Please answer if you read this doctor.
Like I said in this video, taking your son for a routine eye exam is all it takes to rule out the most common causes of excessive blinking. Only when all ocular causes are ruled-out would you move on to explore other possible causes with the family doctor. Investigate the problem one step at a time 👍🏻

As mentioned in the video, dry eyes is by far the most common reason for excessive blinking in kids. If possible, cut out all screen time for the next few days and see if the excessive blinking goes away. If it doesn’t seem to make a difference, bring your child to see an optometrist for further assessment.
@@mommydear Thank you so much.
My 6 year old started blinking hard after having a headache last week. How can I tell if it’s a neurotic issue?
My son have same problem
I have it and does it making it worse while wearing glasses?
Wearing the right corrective glasses is not a factor that is known to make excessive blinking worse.
My son is 2 in December and blinks excessively I'm concerned about might take him drs
Hi, did it get better eventually?
@sophiemoran7015 yes he's 3 now he grew out of it I limited tv time and screen time in general that helped

HI I I'm A CHILD AND I WANT TO STOP BLINKING WHILE TALKING I BLINK MANY TIMES WHEN I TALK PLZ MAKE A VIDEO ON EXERCISE OR A EYEDROP TO PREVENT IT
If you are sure that you only blink frequently when you talk, then the blinking may not be due to an eye issue. Just to be certain though, I would still recommend an eye exam to rule out causes stemming from the eyes. If all looks normal, then it may be something to bring up to the family doctor for further assessment.
There was no screen time in my childhood, there only was 3 channels on T.V.and no computers. I had excessive eye blinking my mother took me to an optometrist who said I was putting it on for attention, so I got slapped for it. Whenever she caught me, turns out I 've been Autistic and Epileptic all along. Please consider this parents. Don't be my mother.

My sister blinks eyes like she looks up and then blink....pls suggest what to do!

Don’t be ashamed. Talk to your parents and have her call dr and maybe a doctor can bring some sense to them.
