    If it happens constantly when you're nervous then it's facial tics. I had them for 25 years and it was only cured when i had Medication for my Anxiety and also constantly telling myself i am OK when ever i am very anxious.
    I am happy to answer any questions as i was sooo happy to finally not have to Tic anymore, my confidence grew.

      I hope you could see my reply,
      Since kindergarten my grandmother noticed my eyes are blinking, so she always got mad at me, then when I was 27 years old I got my first eye glass and told the doctor about my excessive blinking eyes, he told me that it's a dry eyes and allergy, so I used an eye drops from that clinic, it lessen my eye blinking but I didn't buy that eye drop anymore, but my question is ever since before I see the doctor. I have this feeling that I can't breathe if I stop blinking excessively... Could it be because of anxiety? My family was so ignorant when it comes to this, and they don't believe even in depression so I can't ask them, they will just say that it's a mannerism of mine... Even my mother was once make fun of me because of my eye condition.

    I am actually a kid myself, and I noticed that I was blinking a lot and very hard, I think I have dry eyes because I spend all day on the computer because of online school so I don’t know how to fix this, what should I do?

    • @mommydear
      @mommydear  4 роки тому +7

      Normally, the simple solution is to limit screen time. However, if online learning is unavoidable, then you can start by trying to blink more regularly and fully while on the computer rather than reflexively from dry eyes. Adjust screen brightness to preference and try to adjust screen so there are no glare spots (e.g. from window or overhead light) to further irritate your eyes. Outside of online learning, try to relax with activities that don’t require further staring of digital devices. It also may be a good idea to let your parents know about your struggle so they can arrange a visit with your optometrist to assess how to best help your situation. Hope you find your solution soon!

    Uhm, I'm 20 years old and this also happens to me. I always blink a lot, like a lot. I am always using my phone and when I play computer games, I blink so much. I don't know what to do and it's just getting worse. I'm trying to blink like a normal blink rate (15-20 times per min) but I can't do it because it is involuntary. However, I do get some normal blinking rate after washing my face or after shower but then after a few minutes after that, it goes back to excessive blinking. I already told my parents that I have to go see an eye doctor. Any idea on what should I do and the possible cause of this? It will be highly appreciated. Thank you

    • @mommydear
      @mommydear  3 роки тому +2

      It seems like you already know your excessive blinking is tied to overuse of screens because that’s when it’s the worst. We tend to forget to blink with screen viewing because of the over stimulation. If you are serious about getting better, cut your screen time to a minimum. Relax by doing things other than staring at screens (e.g. exercise, audiobooks, music, etc). Treat it like a detox! Keep your appointment with the eye doctor to see if more has to be done. 👍🏻

    My 3 year-old son is blinking excessively just this January of 2021. We are thinking that it may be because of excessive using of digital devices that he has experiencing dry eyes. But when I see your vid that one of culprits of excessive blinking is inverted lashes, then I'm thinking that it may be the reason. My son was diagnosed with entropion or inverted lashes when he was 8 months old. We were given eye gel back then. We thought that his eyes are okay now since it has been years. Does entropion go away on its own?

    • @mommydear

      As mentioned in the video, if your child's excessive blinking is worse with staring activities (including TV and mobile phone use), then the excessive blinking is likely due to dry eyes. We tend to forget to blink when we are too focused on the screens. Take it as a signal to have your son take a break from screen viewing when that happens! Too much time spent on focusing at near is linked to the increase of nearsightedness in children. You can learn more about this topic in another video of mine: ua-cam.com/video/GhvmWWp760w/v-deo.html

      @@mommydear I think the causes of this is from computer screen. Do you know how to cure this?

    • @mommydear

      If the reason is due to excessive screen time, then dry eyes is the likely problem (please refer to the first cause and recommendations discussed in this video). However, since you say this has gone on for a year, there could be something more going than simple dry eyes. That’s why a routine eye exam is required for proper diagnosis and treatment. Like I said in this video, taking your son for a routine eye exam is all it takes to rule out the most common causes of excessive blinking. Only when all ocular causes are ruled-out would you move on to explore other possible causes with the family doctor. Investigate the problem one step at a time 👍🏻

      As mentioned in the video, dry eyes is by far the most common reason for excessive blinking in kids. If possible, cut out all screen time for the next few days and see if the excessive blinking goes away. If it doesn’t seem to make a difference, bring your child to see an optometrist for further assessment.

      If you are sure that you only blink frequently when you talk, then the blinking may not be due to an eye issue. It’s uncommon to have to wait for months to see an optometrist. If by “eye doctor” you mean ophthalmologist, I would go see an optometrist first. You should get an appointment sooner and they also have the means to check for the cause of the excessive blinking in your son’s eye.

      Richelle, did you figure out what the cause was? My son has the exact same issue!!! Went to the beach and he complained of sand in his eye, then excessive/strong blinking in 1 eye began. We have stopped his watching tablet to see but he still does it while he is just sitting there not doing anything. What should I now do

    • @mommydear
      @mommydear  3 роки тому +2

      Depending on where you are from, it could be winter like it is in Canada now. These are the dryer months because we are cranking up the heat while we’re cooped up indoors. If you see dry skin on your body, you can assume there will be some effect on the eyes as well. Decreasing screen time is good; don’t let that go out of hands as it will only make the blinking worse regardless of the cause. You can consider having your child use artificial tears 2-3 times a day (as you would put lotion on your hands if they are dry). A humidifier in the child’s room or work desk could make a difference. If all these don’t help, return to the optometrist (or perhaps a different one) and seek further assistance.

      To help your sister, we first have to diagnose the cause of her excessive blinking (i.e. nervous tic or ocular cause). Rule out an ocular cause by having a comprehensive eye exam with your optometrist. If nothing is found, then ask your family doctor for further assessment and advice.
      One thing you can also try in the meantime is to point it out when your sister blinks excessively and ask if she realize why and how she feels as she does it. These observations will be important in helping the doctors diagnose her problem.
