As someone who’s like dark roleplay from time to time. It’s great to see someone to talk in g it without going “Isn’t this fucked up” without going moralizing direction. It’s great to see video talking about this subset.
The only takeaway I have from this entire video: Men want care and attention Women wanna be murdered This is very insightful, I'll be sure to apply these lessons at some point.
You know, I wanted to make a grim reply about how my Father treats and talks about his own daughters as if they were cattle but... It just a bit too painful to even joke about something like this. A person who demanded a 14yo to "continue his bloodline" (thankfully, didn't happen) and on the same breath called all of his daughters wh°r³s because one tried (I repeat *TRIED* ) to have a normal relationship (it didn't go well. It didn't last long. Especially with the way how Father acted.) Might be a reason why I'm asexual. Partially because of reasons above and seeing how both of my parents aren't happy with their marriage, maybe even because of people around me who had or have even worse situation at home. Okay, I'm sorry. I just really needed to get it off of my chest. For some reason this comment brought really bad memories back.
Enjoy anything you like, regardless of if it's "cringe". As long as it's not harmful or offensive it'll probably be ok Cringe culture should be dead by now, I don't know why people are being shamed for enjoying harmless content
I've dabbled in dark audio from time to time, like creepypasta readings to "my partner is a ____" stuff. They usually have a good balance of edge and can be quite entertaining even though I have trouble inserting myself into the story. It's mostly has to do with the voice and it's delivery (which I tend to be picky with) but again, it's only something I've dabbled in. Might see if there's some that'll interest me.
As someone who is technically part of the audio roleplay community, this is gonna be interesting... Edit: I don't mean interesting in a bad way. If anything, it's really cool to see more of this stuff. A lot of VAs out there deserve recognition, and I'm glad you're giving them a spotlight.
As someone who (also admittedly) watches ASMR, I remember I started listening to horror narrators like blue_spooky and joey’s nightmares first, before graduating to listen to audio Roleplays. I also think that one other ASMR Roleplay channel that sticks out, at least to me is KasumiVA since she essentially has a big list of characters to Roleplay as. There’s vampire, then there’s the idol roleplay, then there’s a kitsune roleplay, and probably more!
Lets players. Lets players never change. Alright, I had to make that joke seeing that little intro bit XD. Edit: Oh wait! I forgot to mention, Dream like half has a dark persona himself, named by the fandom as Nightmare! He's made jokes about Nightmare, and also acted scary in manhunts so the fandom took that as a base and made Nightmare into this scary hunter figure who has the classic edgy palette of black and red. It was definitely added onto when Dream named all his weapons on the DSMP "Nightmare". I kinda want to bring him back since I think the fandom mostly forgot about him.
I liked listening to you talk about something you liked more than when you make videos on sh*tty people tbh! I think myself and a good chunk of others are getting a little worn out from negative commentary topics😅 or at least that's what I've been seeing in comments and discussion chats lately. Don't be afraid to make more!! Might do a little less numbers than your usual content for awhile till you catch the eye of my type of crowd tho, but we love it :)
i dont care much for the asmr/roleplaying channels, but the other kinds of scary story tellers are my favorite youtube channels lmaooo. Lets Read, Southern Cannibal, Mr Nightmare. 99% of these channel communities are literally just story telling. no commentary, no opinions, no (or sincerely little) drama, just horror, and its a good little escape. i also remember early corpse, i was around when he was still (sort of) actively making the horror content, and it makes me so sad knowing that isnt what hes into making anymore, because he always did it so well. i definitely understand it, he has a lot going on and then dealing with his popularity boom all at once, i can imagine it's been kind of hard to figure out what kind of content to make to make everyone happy.
Coming out of my ‘cringe hole’ to say that unfortunately while I would love an evil anti-Dream/Nightmare character and say ‘some things stay the same’, Dream is (at least in character) evil/antagonistic already. This was a great dissertation and some great coverage of quite a few topics that I enjoyed and still enjoy! Thank you for the content, delicious
I'm screaming! i completly forgot about the dark versions of like mark, jack, and everyone else and like that whole thing. I used to go to like quotev and people would have their cyoa type thing that i'd be so invested in playing so JLKASDJLK Also can i just say amazing audio! it'd be amazing to hear more :D
oh no i totally won't be expanding my already concerning amount of asmr content consumed to this "psychotic therapist" roleplay, i would never... oh my gosh i love the dark somnium
Honestly, I never thought I would enjoy roleplay ASMT. I was under the asumption that it was something kinky/sexual, becouse that's the stigma floating around ASMR in general. But than I found "Amy Kay Asmr" and her "princess" series, and noticed that roleypay ASMR is basically just like audio books! Which might also explain why I really quickly fell in love with her content, considering I grew up listening to audio books before going to sleep when I was little xD
Ah… Yes… Another niche I’m still actively apart of and can become a tad obsessive and fixated on that I’m also a bit embarrassed about being interested in…. How wonderful….. In all seriousness, thank you for this wonderful video Mali! It brought a smile to my face to know a UA-camr I enjoy and respect a lot won’t judge me for listening to some weird, kinky audio shit that could be considered a little cringey by most sane individuals - myself included.
21:11 Not gonna lie, I'm actually kinda invested in this, I've kinda always been a slut for roleplay because I saw it as a tool to improve my writing skills and while I may cringe at it later it can't be denied how it helped me find my footing as an aspiring writer/animator. My brain is already coming up with a backstory for this, dreaming up who is hiding from this shadowy being and the relationship between them and whoever saved them. What can I say? I'm a sucker for anything that can get my imagination running like Forest Gump
As an elderly UA-cam watcher (I'm 42, lol) I think it's interesting how radio drama-esque performances have come back into style. If anyone's interested there are a lot of Lights Out and other horror themed 50s radio dramas around on UA-cam and Audible has collections including some newer produced ones (The Man in Black series is very, very good)
All I can say about the audio story is that the glitch voice is really, really hard to understand at multiple parts. Anyways, Iremember listening to Roleplay ASMR because it was a way to keep my roots and roleplay with others. Not many adults do fourm roleplays. It also made me realize that roleplaying wasn't what I was passionate about but the stories people come up with. The power of a second voice can make or break a story and that part is fun. I cannot tell you the many times I was genuinely giggling whilst writing for crack rp, or cried when my favorite character died in a certain story because I liked the world. In all honesty, if it weren't for roleplay and, dare I say fanfiction, I wouldn't be the writer I am today.
I used to roleplay in wireclub chatrooms. I was so cringe but tbh, I don't regret it. Sometimes you need a demon OC in the Supernatural universe who is terrified of her own abilities and is scared she'll lose control of them.
Dear Sir/Madam, That was an amazing audio clip that you shared, and I for one would like to hear more. Great video over all too. I'm personally on the fence about horror ASMR, but if you're looking for more horror podcasts, may I suggest Alice Isn't Dead. It's by one of the creators of Welcome to Nightvale, but it's a limited series. Also, and this is more for anyone else that reads this comment, never apologise for being cringe. Own that shit. If it brings you joy, and doesn't hurt anyone, then it's not cringe. And anyone who says it is is wrong.
I saw the title and knew I just had to watch,,,,, I'd be listening to those RP ASMR rn if it wasn't for my earrings LMAO, they're honestly good in their own ways, or really cringe but it's like, really funny to listen to
If you ever wanna chat about some Ask your character blogs for some minor history from the early days back in dA moving to Tumblr, just saying, I've got history with it. ; ) Seen a lot of it grow, seen a lot of it burn down, including, but not limited to even the ~~onceler~~ shenanigans.
Oh, you did the scarecrow video? Pfft. Weak. Don't even talk to me about cringe unless you are getting binaurally murdered with sound effects by a demon guy, and you are a vampire for some reason. Or there's two ancient siblings vampires that adopt and turn you in audio format... There's a lot of vampire content.

@@Tigershark_3082 that could be fun

There's something so comforting when Mali's Homestuck fangirl pokes through.
