- In this video I explain how to do a quick and easy drywall patch. I've done many patches this way and they always work out just perfect. Some people call this a blowout patch, or a California patch... All it uses is a scrap piece of drywall and some mud. Basic tools are required. No Tape.

Great video! I loved "we're not building a piano". My dad always said, "We're not building a watch". Thanks for the very informative content.
Thank you for the great feedback! Yes I like to say that saying... I like the watch reference too... 😀
It’s back, without further ado !!! Great video!!!
Lol.... Yep that's my signature phrase... Thanks for the great feedback.. 😀
Rudy, I'm glad that you are becoming comfortable enough to let your personality to show through in these later videos. Your technical knowledge has always been top notch. Thumbs up to the instruction and thanks for sharing. I've never done it this way. Almost always, I've put backing strips behind the patch because I never knew if the paper that is outside the patch would stand too proud and cause a bump. If it does, what's the fix?
Thanks so much Meat for your feedback! If you get a bump like you're talking about its probably because there was an area that wasn't fully covered with mud on the initial application. I've ran into that before, I will usually take a razor knife and make a slit where the bump is and then use the drywall knife with some mud on a corner and push it into the hole I just made with the razor knife to get it under the paper or tape. Then go back over it with the drywall knife to flatten it. That usually will fix those areas.
@@TheHomeImprovementChannel Thanks, Rudy. I'm going to try it from now on cause it seems like that will give a better finish rather than trying to fill in the rough edges I've been covering for the last 25 years. This is why I'm glad I always had a painter in the company.
Cool! I've used that trick for years. If you see a bubble under the tape, just slit it and add mud underneath. Works great...
