  • 2017 Camaro SS came in for a little more power to the wheels keeping factory heads and cam. We did a baseline dyno to see what the factory RWHP was before installing a few bolt-ons. After completion, we did a custom dyno tune to optimize performance.

    - Cold-air intake

    I had an 03’ gm 6.0. I put an air intake, 3” dual exhaust, and had it programmed and I could tell a little difference but when I bolted headers to it that made a big difference. Now I have a van to carry around my tools. To be young again and not married with children was a good time.

      Cant really say thats beautiful. Try a b58 with a $600 jb4 tune 80+hp. Add a downpipe and its only up from there. I have an SS but the BMW is more practical and walks a FBO bolt on all day long getting 30mpg highway.

    Did you need O2 sensor extensions since the cats are further back?

    • @BlackdogSpeedShop
      @BlackdogSpeedShop  3 роки тому

      No, in this instance we did not. We were able to tune without extensions.

    Supprised you didn't do a full bolt on with porting manifold or E85 easy way to get close to 100+ hp

    I paid $3500 for my upgrades and got 459rwhp and 477 rwtq. Only diff between my car in this one is mine is a 2020 A10 and I have E85.
    That said, my shop is trying to sell me on a $9000 416 build + cam :/ I wish I could shit money out of my ass. This would be as close to that elusive LS7 I always wanted in my car

    besides sound i have no clue why people go straight to bolt ons. Between labor and parts the guy probably put over 3 grand into the car. for another 4 grand he could have procharged it and gained 5 times the power. dollar to dollar bolt on parts are a waste of money but gotta make them sound good to i guess.

    • @wildeone2070
      @wildeone2070 3 роки тому +6

      Because some people dont want to pay 10K as one of their first mods. If so just get a used ZL1. Headers add power, sound, and let the engine breathe better

    • @whitelightningraceproducti7756
      @whitelightningraceproducti7756 3 роки тому +2

      @@wildeone2070 i get it but a full exhaust new is like 2500 for a nice stainless setup another 400 for an intake another 600 for a dyno tune then install on all this i bet the guys got 4500 into gaining 30hp. Such minimal gains for the money bolt ons are the biggest money throw away there is.

      Not everyone wants a boosted car or have 10k+ to dump all at once so they build progressively, plus n/a builds are fun. It’s the joy of building up a car. Not just dropping in a supercharger and calling it a day. Besides if anyone is to go with a supercharger first. The zl1 was the better choice.

    • @whitelightningraceproducti7756
      @whitelightningraceproducti7756 3 роки тому +2

      @@Xlldl actually if you wanna build big power the Zl1 is a absolute waste of money. you pay an extra 10 grand for the car and if you wanna build much over 800 HP the stock LSA is not capable of producing anymore than that. so you pay an extra 10k for the car up front and then have to purchase a new supercharger you are way better off to purchase an SS or a 1LE and then purchasing a 10k dollar supercharger and injector setup. the LSA's overheat and cant put out anywhere near what a Whipple or a Magnuson 2650 or a D1 or F1A can so you pay more for the car up front and then have to take it on the back end as well.
      I get its about the build but to drop 5 grand on 35 Horsepower seems foolish thats just my opinion. you wont even notice 35 hp when driving it so IMO if you are gonna do that might as well just throw a catback on it for 900$ and leave the tune the same. but again this is just my opinion.

    • @wildeone2070
      @wildeone2070 3 роки тому +1

      @@whitelightningraceproducti7756 the type of people that spend 10k on a supercharger will most likely also spend the 4k on an exhaust. It's about the joy of the build, the research, picking what you want. It's fun and it's not all about the money. If you want to do as little as possible for something fast than just buy something fast and keep it stock. If all you look at is finances than sure, HP to Money, an exhaust isnt the best option. But again, i plan on doing both, so im starting with the smaller of the two payments, supercharger will be the icing on top of the build
