Most shops dunking base LT1 mani vs ported LT1 mani aren’t seeing any real power increases. A few got 2 hp. But 6-7 hp, must be the smoothing method used. I can verify that the LT2 mani is better on a LT1 vs MSD as well as costs.
Basically the Lt2 is great for shorter runs and the MSD in the higher rpm. So if ur shift points are 6400 6500 your killing it. Basically get what you paY for
Thanks for the information, The LT2 will not fit on my C7 Corvette, but the MSD will. Is the 14 hp worth it? I am planning on using one with the additions of a cam, heads, and headers, so maybe it will be worth it.
I was curious as to what the LT2 mani would do on an LT1. I already bought an MSD and it’s on my car but I was wondering if the LT2 manifold would be any better. Thanks for sharing
Thank You came back for a refresh to my Memory. I have heard the LT2 manifold can be modified to fit under the Corvette C7 Cowl. Since we are Normally asperated so far. low pressure, more like vacuum pressure. Can you suggest a source for a LT2 manifold with modification to fit the Corvette for N/A engine? I could cut the cowl but it may be too big a cut to be done aesthetically pleasing. 1/2 rise over the rear end of the intake is no that big a deal to me. 1 inch rise started to look really weird. Thanks Dennis in Virginia
Didnt GM say that the only reason they were able to put this taller manifold on the c8 was because they did not need to worry about frontwards visibility? Yet it seems to fit neatly under the camaros hood... unless they were only referring to the c7.
There is also pedo crash test standard, that calls for some space between top of engine and the hood. C8 doesn't have to worry about that, and from the sounds of it, neither does Camaro.
A new intake option sounds great then. The LT2 shares a lot from the LT1 and seeing as how its doubtful the camaro will get a new engine this gen due to poor sales. Making an "LT1.5" may be a decent option by swapping on some LT2 parts
I've got a Camaro SS with ported throttle body and a roto-fab intake. It seems like for the cost, the LT2 manifold is a total no-brainer. I wonder if the ECU will still play nice being stock with ALL of the air intake components modified?
Did the LT2 intake bolt straight on to the LT1? And we’re there any modifications you had to do to run this intake? Any clearancing or rerouting hoses or lines?
So essentially the same results as with the FAST manifold, lots of money for minimal gains over stock LT2. Spending $1200 for essentially nothing more than eye candy may be important to those compensating..
Pray isn't onboard with the LT2. He says 20 plus peak more with stock MSD than full ported LT2. Not sure what/who to believe anymore. Both on a stock unported TB, maybe that's the problem? Makes me think the unported LT2 and ported 95mm are still a good way to go.
I’m interested in buying one of these when you guys offer the direct fit manifold in the future. Will this work on the stock tune or do I need a tune? Seems like I don’t need a tune?
So if I buy that lt2 on the link I gave for my c7 LT1 what do I need to do to put it on do I need all the map sensors If there something u can provide to make it fit
It will require adding a fitting in to the back of the manifold for the brake booster - as soon as we get more inventory available, we will be offering a ready-to-go, bolt-on manifold.
Swapped out an l83 for an l86. No one told me about the difference in exhaust, intake manifold and throttle body so I currently have the 80mm that was on the l83. Thinking about getting the l86 intake or the lt2 but wanted to get some opinions from everyone. I did my exhaust already from Texas speed. Headers all the way back. Single 3.5 " help please lol
People have tried the LT1 intake on the L86. The L86 intake is designed for a truck power-curve. If you put on an LT1 intake, you will shift everything towards the upper RPM range rather than mid- and low-RPM. I guess it depends what you use your truck for.
Yeah, something doesn't seem right there to me either. Your 93 octane number seems low to have that tuned. I ran the exact same combo on 93 octane and I was about 445rwhp with a Diablo tune.
@@Blakehenry11 did yours have the stock headers and exhaust? I’m putting 1 7/8 headers with x pipe at the end of June and I’ll see how much more I get. I have a 21 Camaro SS
Fudged numbers stock. Most stock LT1’s are in the 392-407 rwhp range. 450+ rwhpon just E85 is insane, impossible. I’ve NEVER seen E85 add over 40-50 rwhp to ANY vehicle. 12-25 rwhp yes, but 40+ rwhp, no way.
Base: 441hp/457tq
Stock ported: 447hp/461tq
Lt2: 455hp/459tq
Lt2 ported: 458hp/462tq
Msd: 455hp/458tq
Thanks for the recap
Works out to $77 bucks per horsepower for the MSD Atomic Intake.
No thanks!
Thanks
@@Jommybutler1234 OR you can do what I did and beat all of those intakes for $58 /rwhp instead.

Guess I'm buying an lt2 and doing as much porting as you can with a decent throttle body. You guys did awesome!! Thanks you for testing!!
I really like the knowledge you bring for the LT platform ...... would like more videos of testing similar to this video please .
Ohhh this is awesome..I was looking for another alternative instead of getting the common “MSD” setup. Can’t wait to get this soon

Wow that is some good gains for the price. Thanks for the info and running the tests as accurately as possible.
LT2 ported manifold with track attack cam and heads!!
Have you thought out making a kit for the wire extensions?
I have a ported lt2 on my 10 speed camaro and I beat the msd guys all the time…it’s all for fun💪🚀
What about a ported msd
Great video. Straight to the point. Thank you.
I wonder how much power gains there were with the 95MM throttle body on the ported LT2

Can I bolt this intake on without having A tune?
Does the lt2 mani take the same bolts? Do we need to buy new gaskets? If new gaskets, do you guys provide? Awesome results!
Same bolts and gaskets as the lt1.
Do you think I would need a tune if I ported my stock TB and swap my stock IM to a lt2 intake manifold?
Very interesting, thanks for doing the research

Ordered mine on the 18th. Can’t wait to slap it on my 2020 SS
Did you tune? I have one but nervous as I've heard it can run lean up top without a tune.
@@tac_r_usoutdoors8984 I did tune. I added an e85 kit as well at the same time and did the GPI remote tuning option.
So lt2 you can just bolt up to factory and drive? No tune required to get those gains with the lt2?
No headers? Just e85 only?
Thank you for making this
Do you think the LT2 intake manifold would fit on the L83 5.3??
Yes it will.
It fits my cousin has this setup with a 87 tb as well

We haven't checked fitment on the C7 yet, so not sure!
GM was referring to the Corvette. It was sightline over the hood+aero given by the hoodline.

LOVE TO SEE YOU DO A THROTTLE BODY TEST, USING THE LT2.
So since not many people do just intake manifold, which manifold do you think will perform best with CAI, throttle and maybe cam and heads?
That is the question.
Great testing. Thank you
Did the LT2 intake bolt straight on to the LT1? And we’re there any modifications you had to do to run this intake? Any clearancing or rerouting hoses or lines?
You need to get it modified to fit, gwatney performance sells them and modifies them to fit
Did y’all tune all using e85 ? If so will there be a plus on top of the lt2 mod
will this fit on my c7 corvette?

As did mine.

Will the LT2 manifold fit under the hood of a C7 Corvette?
So far, we only tested it on a Camaro!
Probably NOT as the LT1 manifold's height/plenum was specifically compromised to fit the C7 hoodline... Unless maybe you change the hood...
Will it fit a 2016 6th gen maro ?
Yes
Wish they would fit a C7 Stingray/GS.
