The Electric types in Devar are BADASS. And when I saw Shaminable's design, I couldn't help thinking "Aw man, Jynx could have been a good design. Great, even!" because while the designs and inspirations are of course very different, there is a similar enough feel IMO that Shaminable, unlike Jynx, pulls off delightfully. Great video all-around!
I loved Electivire's design, Magmortar is the one that was poorly executed. They needed to lean into the bird motif more, and maybe change some proportions
@@CrownofMischief they clearly went for a more "demon" consistency once Magby was made. I honestly don't get when people say that Magmortar is an inconsistent evolution when there are way more better examples of that (don't get me started on Snorunt)
Fantastic new additions for the Devhar region! You and the artists working on these are already making it so hard for people to choose a hypothetical pokemon team! Stormoth and Abomage are my faves from this video. It was so clever to have Stormoth's tusks split to both look like lightning and match your reference. Very clever!
The cool thing about the Yetot line being based on final fantasy mages is it could also technically have rarer evolutions or even evolutions in different entirely different regions that are based on the other three less popular FF mages. Specially Red,Blue & Green.
I feel like a Red Mage evo would be neither amazing at offensive moves or defensive moves but a good all-around attacker. Blue Mage evo would have access to moves that copy other moves and stats as well as several status moves. Green Mage evo is a little harder to define, but I think it would be the fastest one, with a lot of moves dependent on the battlefield and terrain, such as Weather Ball, Nature Power, Rainy Day, Sunny Day, Terrain moves, and Rapid Spin.

These seem incredible every time, and each seems to match your inspiration perfectly, so your communication with the artists must be stellar. I want to commission some art in the future, so a video on how you communicate your ideas so well would be super helpful
Digryll looks sick! We need another bug/ground type and that ABSOLUTELY fills that highly requested position. Whilst Emberfly isn't really my vibe, i think a lot of the design aspects are so well executed. My bug-type ranking for this video is a solid 7.5/10!
Incredible designs and concepts 😍 I’d love to see you make fake stats for your designs and show them alongside their image. It’d really elevate them for me!
Most fossil Pokemon use subtle or muted colors, but I love how Boomoth just pops out at you with its bright white and lightning yellow, almost like it’s a treasure you get from reviving it.
I love the counterpart Pokémon for Devhar including Yetot evolving into a shaman that heals during the day or into a mage that uses dark magic during the night. Also, I feel like Rookler would be more of a convergent species to the Pawniard line and that Prismonal and Jacanium would be version exclusives.

I just recently discovered your channel and watched a few videos. And I love what you all come up with! One inspiration for a Pokémon that I’m shocked has never been made was a peacock Pokémon. I feel there’s so much potential there. Flying/grass, flying/psychic, flying/fairy, flying/electric…there are so many possibilities! Would love to see something like that. Always thought grass would be best to go with flying. Envine/Vanivy?
The Zangoose form should be ghost normal imo, but I already love both Zangoose and seviper and I think ice poison is an underratedly cool type combo, and same goes for ghost normal
Nominating for a ship in a bottle pokemon. Idc if it's for this region or not, that'd just be so cool. Like, maybe a water type that uses the bottle as a shell and floats around filter feeding and not doing much, retreating into the bottle when it gets scared. And then it evolves into some kind of fish that's still mostly in the bottle, and uses the lid as a propeller to move. And then split evolutions based on different ships. Like, it'd have a water dark type on based on a pirate, a water ghost one based on a shipwreck, a water fairy one based on cargo ships (it gives other pokemon things and is usually carrying an item when you catch it), a fighting one also based on pirate ships but leaning more into cannons and swords, etc etc
Gotta say, the fossil counterparts, the fire bugs and Queendache are pretty neat concepts. Definitely wish they were real. Specially the Mammoth fossil and Queendache. Also, am I the only one that wants Fire/Bug starter?
I have an idea for three non-Legendary counterpart Pokémon that are based on spell books that have become possessed. The idea is that they are all dual type Ghost Pokémon and each has a different secondary typing and focuses on a type of magic. The books have these phantom arms holding and levitating them and these hands occasionally will turn a few pages when being idle and hold the book out whenever they attack. They all have signature Abilities that are counterparts to each other and the effect of their Abilities is that any damage from an attack that would land a Super Effective hit would be cut in half. The typing and magic of each would be Fairy and White/Good Magic, Dark and Dark Magic, and Psychic for Status/Healing Magic.
The legend of a sky God that has to fight a dragon or serpent to release the water is considered one of the absolute oldest myths. It's pretty much found all the way around the world.
Ice dark is an incredibly viable typing considering how weavile was consistently one of the most viable ice types (if not the most viable!) up until the release of chien pao, which currently appears on 1/5 of all vgc teams. Other than maybe mamoswine weavile was basically the only viable ice type pokemon up until like gen 7 other than like mamoswine, which even then is arguable
Yeah, the only reason they are viable is due to their stats as fast sweepers. If they were slow like many other Ice Type Pokemon, they would guarantee be Untiered in competitive.
Yeah, well stats and type are always working in combination. That’s how pokemon are designed. A defensively statted pokemon always does best with a defensive oriented typing, and vice versa. This idea is reinforced by how pokemon with ambivalent stats tend towards the role their typing is best suited to. Tyranitar is plenty bulky, but as a rock/dark type he is unviable defensively even with his automatic spdef boost in sand which he sets. Movepool is, of course, also a factor. Similar to tyranitar Ice/dark is about as offensive as you can get, especially in combination with good offensive stats, and since weavile and chien pao get get good coverage and, in the case of chien pao, a phenomenal offensive ability on top of that, they are good. So yeah, ice/dark is a good typing. It’s situationally good given that it can’t function defensively, but so is basically every other typing. By your logic pure steel type is bad despite resisting like 12 types because it only hits two supereffectively making it shitty offensively. In practice, pure steel is probably one of the best types a pokemon can be.
ALSO ice types are actually generally fairly viable in current vgc formats. The snow buff is pretty major and has allowed some of them to thrive. Snow is probably the second best weather condition right now, behind rain, notably beating out sun even though it’s able to power up all the past paradox mons as well as enable some pretty scary attackers. This really hinges on its countermeta potential; the main bonus that comes out of snow is the setting of aurora veil, which lasts even when snow goes away. Rain and sun, on the other hand, mainly boost pokemon or attacks while they are active. This means that snow teams are fairly comfortable losing their weather, making them more adaptable. Alolan ninetails is pretty high usage, while baxcalibur (a slower, bulkier mon than chien pao or weavile) is a common partner for it. There’s been some occasional cetitan usage too, especially in earlier sv formats, and even a few frosmoth teams have floated around. Iron bundle is fantastic right now and arguably, though not super high usage, a defining pokemon in the current meta. I’ve actually been running a snow team using alolan ninetails and mamoswine to decently high ladder placements on showdown, though i don’t play bo3 so its legitimate value is a bit questionable. And of course, as previously mentioned, chien pao is a defining pokemon of the current meta. I figured you might not know given your reference to the tiering in smogon formats.
I really love some of these! Tbh though, the shapes of those Pawniard line counterpart pokemon kinda counteracts the purpose of a shield or armor, because blades will get redirected to the crevices after striking. There are weapons and armor designed with this in mind though, that were utilized for breaking an enemy's weapon much faster. Defense through offense as well.
I'd definitely add a yetot to my party, so adorable. I'd probably evolve it into an Abomage to mirror our rivals likely use of the alternative evolution as she mentioned being a successor to the fairy type elite four
Brandon, I LOVE the Pokemon you've designed for Devhar, especially the amount of detail you've put into the lore - hats off truly! I have to say though, Emberfly caught me a bit off guard and my brain went "no no no this isn't working". I noticed 2 things that I wanted to point out, which IMO make Emberfly less bug and more teddy bear. First, the shape of the face - the "antennae" are currently positioned in a very mammalian ear-like location on the head and the face also feels very...mammalian with cheekbones. Second come the eyes which are too small relative to the head. If you remove the wings from Emberfly, it very much looks like a cute little teddy bear. IMO if you simply make the eyes larger and move the antennae more towards the middle of the top of the head, it would look more bug-like.
Would you consider making a video explaining how you researched and got town ideas for a country I can't recall you mentioned ever visiting? GOD I love your work lmao
Wait, I’ve heard that mongoose story before. Except it wasn’t about a mongoose, it was a dog named Gelert. Interesting how some countries all over the world have the exact same fairytales but with different variations
Bit of a random thought, but I think what would be cool. Is a Pokémon game based around fossils being recovered. Many more fossils to find and revive amongst other non fossils. And finding ancient ancestors of your starter Pokémon and other Pokémon found in the world, basing the story around the concentration of fossils in the area and how the ancestors are so concentrated with the modern Pokémon in the area. And maybe the villain group are trying to revive these fossils but fusing them together, similar to how sword and shield did it but with much more diversity and combos etc. I dunno, just a fleeting thought. What do you guys think?
Rookler,Knightarge, and Queendache, are instantly my favorite counterpart pokemon because of how they mirror Pawniard,Bisharp, and Kingambit, and because of how they got the secondary fairy typing, which is the opposite of the Bisharp line's secondary dark typing.
Here is an idea for a dog pokemon: A Rajapalayam breed based dog, with Fighting/Ghost type. Fighting as the dog was mainly used for hunting and ghost because of its looks
Hey man, Mattox again, I just want to say I love your work and videos. I have been making Pokémon of my own lately and I use your videos as inspiration. I cannot thank you enough for making videos on this platform. Thank you for everything.
In Cherokee mythology there’s something called the Uktena which is another red fiery dragon like snake with a gem stone in the middle of its head. And tbh, when I first Vrithon, that’s what I thought it was based off of
The snakes actually are more like Gigantophis, another giant snake that lived in the Sahara desert 40 million years ago, unlike Titaboboa who was in a swamp.
Zangoose, the Ghost Ferret Pokémon, a Ghost type. These Zangoose live in abandoned buildings and cold clearings. The Zangoose in Devhar have a bigger grudge with Seviper than even their Hoenn cousins. People used to keep Zangoose as pets, but then they started to get and street fight them against Sevipers. This practice caused the Zangoose population to go down. They quickly died out in Devhar and became Ghost types. This may be the cause of their bigger and more strained hatred towards Seviper. People in other regions heard about the extinction and started to protect and conserve Zangoose. But it was too late in Devhar.
The Zangoose inspiration story sounds very similar to one I think is from the UK, where a dog was left to guard a baby. Another animal (maybe a fox?) tried to eat the baby, but the dog stopped it in a bloody fight, the baby was safe but their cot was knocked over. When the father came home all he saw was the dog, blood and knocked over cot, thinking it was the dog who did it, he killed it. Only after, then finding the baby and dead fox, realising his mistake. It's been years since I've heard the story but I think as a way to atone for the wrongful killing, the dog was celebrated as a hero or something. Very similar I think.
Boomoth reminds me of a wooly mammoth Pokémon concept that popped in my head a while back. Not really an artist or designer, so the look was vaguer: the image in my head was more or less a brown Phanpy with tusks, covered in Buneary fluff. The concept behind it as a Pokémon, though, completely different. Rather than being a fossil Pokémon, my mammoth would be, of all things, a Fire starter. Little warm elephant floof that blows fire from its trunk. And then as it evolved it would become Fire/Ice type.
a long time ago i've seen an video about boitata , it said that he would swim with the head out of the water to avoid getting its fire eyes extinguished and would drink all of the water from the river, i couldn't find the video but if i do, i'll leave it here :)
See I get that many don't like pawmot's design, but for me it's literally just so cute. like "head empty no thoughts" Now if it had a different signature move...
All of these are great designs, but I'd say my favorite of them would probably be Abomage. It's reference to the classic Black Mage design in Final Fantasy is absolutely amazing, and I'd love to use one on my team. I can see now why you put it in your thumbnail.

Oh my arceus. Emburm is so adorable i want to protect it at all costs
Great Fakemon and lore. **applause** Also, best Jynx redo.
At this point, we really have to make our own franchise buddy. We can change the name from Pokemon to something else to avoid copyright issues
Props to you for making the first mammoth Fakemon Ive ever seen that isnt an Ice type!😂
I love these. Awesome job!
It’s just a magicians trick for him to make an awesome video like this😊
I couldn't help myself when I saw Eren's founding titan face when you introduced boomoth
Let’s go my favorite animal 2:26
0:37 2:18 kid named earthquake (i love these design and both are amazing concepts!)
OMG THE YETI FF REFRENCE FOR THE YETI MONS. Im such a ff fan i love the blackmage look especially
Have you seen the Pokemon Amber fakemon region?
Rookler,Knightarge, and Queendache, are instantly my favorite counterpart pokemon because of how they mirror Pawniard,Bisharp, and Kingambit, and because of how they got the secondary fairy typing, which is the opposite of the Bisharp line's secondary dark typing.
Here is an idea for a dog pokemon:
A Rajapalayam breed based dog, with Fighting/Ghost type. Fighting as the dog was mainly used for hunting and ghost because of its looks
I love your content Brandon, fakemon is one of my favorite concepts
Hey man, Mattox again, I just want to say I love your work and videos. I have been making Pokémon of my own lately and I use your videos as inspiration. I cannot thank you enough for making videos on this platform. Thank you for everything.
Wow the windmill butterfly is beautiful 😍
Abomage is my pride and joy, if anyone were to take him away then I would cry for a week.
how would the dehydrate move work against solo water types? would it make them typeless?
I think it would make sense if the Water type became the Ground type
Normal type or something to that effect!
In Cherokee mythology there’s something called the Uktena which is another red fiery dragon like snake with a gem stone in the middle of its head. And tbh, when I first Vrithon, that’s what I thought it was based off of
You should check out Pokemon Opalo if you want to see an Uktena based Pokemon.
The snakes actually are more like Gigantophis, another giant snake that lived in the Sahara desert 40 million years ago, unlike Titaboboa who was in a swamp.
This are some of the best fakemon I have seen
Zangoose, the Ghost Ferret Pokémon, a Ghost type.
These Zangoose live in abandoned buildings and cold clearings. The Zangoose in Devhar have a bigger
grudge with Seviper than even their Hoenn cousins. People used to keep Zangoose as pets, but then they started to get
and street fight them against Sevipers. This practice caused the Zangoose population to go down. They quickly died out in
Devhar and became Ghost types. This may be the cause of their bigger and more strained hatred towards Seviper.
People in other regions heard about the extinction and started to protect and conserve Zangoose. But it was too late in Devhar.
Great video as always Brandon, but one thing i would love to see is a video with charcadet evolution
the pikachu clone kinda looks like a fusion between dedenne and morpeko :0 it's adorable
Shaminable and Abomage are PRECIOUS
I lol'd when I saw the BLM/WHM contrast, but Shaminable also reminds me of the Nu Mou of FF Tactics in its shape. A+, would def have on my team
First Pikachu clone I ever wanted on my team
Boomoth reminds me of a wooly mammoth Pokémon concept that popped in my head a while back. Not really an artist or designer, so the look was vaguer: the image in my head was more or less a brown Phanpy with tusks, covered in Buneary fluff.
The concept behind it as a Pokémon, though, completely different. Rather than being a fossil Pokémon, my mammoth would be, of all things, a Fire starter. Little warm elephant floof that blows fire from its trunk. And then as it evolved it would become Fire/Ice type.
Go(o)d idea
a long time ago i've seen an video about boitata , it said that he would swim with the head out of the water to avoid getting its fire eyes extinguished and would drink all of the water from the river, i couldn't find the video but if i do, i'll leave it here :)
I love digryll and helmite
Oh my godness Emberfly is so freaking adorably cute that I wish it was exsisting😍😍😍😍
See I get that many don't like pawmot's design, but for me it's literally just so cute. like "head empty no thoughts"
Now if it had a different signature move...
All of these are great designs, but I'd say my favorite of them would probably be Abomage. It's reference to the classic Black Mage design in Final Fantasy is absolutely amazing, and I'd love to use one on my team. I can see now why you put it in your thumbnail.
