Hi George.
Thank you for sharing another one of your wonderful videos.
One day I shall do an aquascape and dedicate it to you for all your inspirational videos, the way you do your aquascapes I have never seen anyone else do, you take it to a whole other level, it really leaves me speechless because your scapes are so breath taking.
You always give it your all and I believe that is the number one thing, as giving it 100% each time shows that you truly care about the aquarium life, which is very admirable.
I gave the video a big big thumbs up.
Take care.
It truly is a beautiful aquascape.
Hi George, where is the part 3 of this great video? Ciao
I love this so much, I know this video is a few years old but I just ordered this tank in the new grey colour, it is being delivered tomorrow and I want to do something similar to this scape. I am so excited and can’t wait to set it up, this scape has inspired me so much. Well done 👍🏼
Great, but where is part 3 of 3? I have looked everywhere but to no avail!
I love your style of aquascaping, George. Your tanks always look natural and unpretentious.
Thanks 🙏
As soon as you mentioned Blyxia, I remember seeing it growing in the "wild". I feel so privileged to have seen that.
That’s awesome!
so is Pete's tank
Thanks Martin.
I'm an old dog and my health doesn't allow me to do this sort of thing anymore, but I live vicariously through videos like this. I have to add, however, that I am jealous of the variety of plants and other materials as well as the technology available to hobbyists these days. When I first got into planted aquariums it was an almost unheard of hobby here in the US, and I was very lucky if I could find someone who had basic Java moss growing in their tank that I could trade some cuttings for. There were no varieties of it; just Java moss. Most shops would stock about a half dozen varieties plants, and often they were not even truly aquatic plants, like Dracaena or Spathiphyllum being passed as "aquatic plants" because they can survive a few months being submerged. I searched for several years before finding someone who would ship me some dwarf sword plants to get a "lawn" in one of my planted tanks (this was pre-internet and it was difficult to find distributors). When it came to rocks, I could generally choose from volcanic lace rock, slate, marble, glass "slag" rock, or some local river rocks. Wood was either Malaysian bog wood, or "take your chances" with some unknown variety that would probably turn moldy and start to rot after a month or two. I rigged my own CO2 reactors, first with yeast and sugar fermentors and later with CO2 bottles and home-made bubblers. Even the soil and sand selection available is incredible compared to what I had to choose from, and don't even get me started on lighting systems from then vs now! I can't believe the resources available these days, although I can't really take advantage of them myself I'm still very glad that they're available to those still in the hobby. Although truth be told, I do feel a tinge of jealousy! Thanks for your great videos!
Savant he's not in the US he's in the UK like me
Thanks Catherine. Yes, I do realize that; that's why I specified that I was in the US. Planted aquariums caught on in the UK well before they did in the US, but even here in the US there are far more options now than there used to be.
Have been gathering material to aqua scape my 55 gal. tank using your system as designs as inspiration. Your tanks are beautiful. I watch all your videos and look forward to each new one.
Great video, I always appreciate hearing your rationale behind plant selection and placement.
Nice to see a regular tank build up! Like the design. Looking forward to the update ☺️
Fantastic scape george you excelled your self again with quality content well done mate. I like these part 1-2-3 vids
Thanks Stew 👍
Love that you made this into a mini series! Great video as always. I'd put in some rummy-nose tetras.
Another great job, you´ve done! Really good harmony between the rocks and the wood. Looking forward to part 3.
Thanks Jürgen 👍
Good looking aquascape. I would love to see an update of this tank and find out more about the kit used, like filters, co2 & lighting.
Just the thumbnail of that tank looks SOOO good!!
Thanks Adam!
You may be surprised how much time and effort goes into my thumbnails lately. 👍
Nice jobb George!
Some good tips and greate way of chare them.
Better with filterwool then the coreflute in this low scape.
Done some planted tanks to grow.
Going to try Aquascape in the future but as far i have got some nice komments on my tanks.
As fore fish I shuld go Rasbora Brigitae and Otocinclus. Some pygme corys and Nerit snails and sherry shrimps of cause :)
Another nice one.. As with the rest, i can't wait for the update.. As for fish scissor tale rasbora have become a new favorite of mine. I have a small group in a tank with a crown tail beta and they're pretty neat. They school really well.
Thank you George for the inspiration. I enjoyed every single second in this scape.
Awesome! We have a lido 120 and we adore it. 😄❤️
You're one of the best to follow. So much learning from your videos. Thanks and plz help us with algae control. looking forward!!!
Thanks 🙏
when will we be seeing part 3 of this video?
This Sunday 1st April 2018 👍
looking forward :)
Me too. I edited it this morning. It looks great!
That's a very nice looking scape , very well composed. I would like to see a few ottos in there
Brilliant as always George, I always get inspired to get creative with your videos....right I'm off to have a play 😁👍🏻
Is there a part 3 to this?
I really love the driftwood
Amazing video and in my future tanks I am going to use all your advice.....at the moment I have a 90 lt Askoll pure system and I have already followed your instruction
Thank you! 👍
Is there a part 3 Video?
fantastic scape!!
i would put green neon (paracheirodon simulans) along with a group of otocinclus and a pair of blue rams..
Did part 3 ever get published?
Love it! Great video and always pick up a tip here and there. Great work George!
Thanks Mike 👍🏻
Now I think I may have to rescape my 75 gallon again, gave me new ideas...
Was there ever a part 3 to this? I can't find one.
Thanks for the video George, for Dry Start Method... , do you need to mix liquid fertilizer to water for spraying? if so,,what kind? and also, do you need to open a small hole on the tank cover while covering the tank to let air get inside the tank?
Hi Jess, hole isn’t necessary but opening up to air every day or so is a good idea (for 30minutes or so).
No need for ferts in the spray if you are using soil 👍
It’s probably my fault but where can I find part three? Love this one and thinking about buying a lido 120.
Nicely done!
Is it a non co2 aquascape? Which lightning is used ?
I Fell in love with this scape, especially the root! I want to buy it from you so badly 😭 haha
Love your videos mate!
Ive always wanted to make a crypt-heavy scape so will look forward to the next update
Since you mention fish;
I reckon loads of tiny fish would look really good in here;
Like a big school of green neons, a few otocinclus, some dark coloured Endlers aaaand a nice female betta =P and some cory's if you think theres space at the front !
Now I feel like a new tank for myself might magically appear in my house this week...
Thanks mate! 😊
Hey George- perfect scape and great idea for the taller tank.... are you doing a Part 3 update video?
Ps....any plans to visit Northern Ireland?
Hi George, excellent videos. I am building the same aquarium in UK and I struggling to find a good piece of river wood. The one on this video looks perfect. Could you please tell me where have you found it? Could you please recommend some stores? Thank you!
Hi George. Please, what’s the name of the soil you added after Tropica and why you did it? Nice job! As always. Another great “Farmer”
Greatings from Mallorca! Here when got a great aquarists community!
really Top George , i like the Juwel Aquariums :-)
Nice video! I'd put manacapuru angelfish and/or some dwarf apistogramma cichlids
Ah remember the update video :)
I like it George!
Fish choice/suggestions: cardinal tetras and a few golden rams or maybe some rummy nose tetras with a few leopoldi angelfish???
All parts of the picture very good are consistent among themselves
It's very beautiful !
Nice Scape
Ember tetras would be awesome in this scape
Were you planting in a completely dry substrate? I find it even easier when I spray a bit of water on top of the aquasoil, not pour it.
Excuse my ignorance please George, do you add cold water to the set up when first filling up or do you warm it first?
Usually warm it, but cold is usually ok unless there’s tropical fish in there...
Keep em coming!! Loving it, quick question George, with regards to the aquascaper soil/fertilizer how necessary is it? I have low demand plants, a quite capable DIY Co2 system and a decent maintenance and dozing routine but only simply aquarium gravel. Plants are looking decent, there's some growth but I want to rescape and add soil, its just so so pricey here in South Africa. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks Connor!
I’d recommend a decent liquid fertiliser in any planted tank. But it’s less important the richer the substrate. More so for rheophytes (Plants on rock and wood)
Any update on this scape? I’ve drawn much inspiration from this for my new tank.
I’m hoping to see it soon!
George Farmer , I also bought some filter floss to plug the gaps in the rock scape. Cheers for the great idea.🤙
You’re welcome!
Hi George... what sort of filter is this running?
Not sure - I’ll find out and let you know.
Why not put in a piece of light diffuser in before setting those stones directly on the glass bottom?
You don't really need it aslong as the stone isn't huge.
Love your videos btw joel.
Great idea, thanks! 👍
Hi George, what kind of lighting do you use for this Lido 200. Since my own Lido 200 came with very weak lights, i am looking to replace the original lights.
I didn’t check. I think the original lights but all plants are easy
It's a Juwel Helialux 700 with an addition led strip fitted to the rear flap. Not bright light but the quality of the light is really nice . Very natural lighting.
All my plants (crypts, ferns and mosses) are doing very well, except carpeting plants, due to the hight of 65cm i think. You didn't use any carpeting plants in this aquascape thats true. I am trying now Marsilea Hirsuta and Helanthium Tenellum as last remedy :-)
Thanks, my Lido has the two T5 LED replacement lights, i am not very happy of them. I am looking at the Daytime eco 70 fixture with 3 LED rows.
I used to run 4x t5 tubes on this tank. Bright enough for a good carpet of Echinodorus tenellus but I prefer the more natural light of the LEDs.
Superb scape!
Do you think you might have algae problems due to large window on left ?
Fish: panda loach as part of clean up crew
It was ok before 👍
absolutely fantastic video
Thanks Rob! 👍
What kind of planting forceps are those? I need a pair! That tank needs a healthy school of axelrodia reisei (ruby tetras)
Regular aquascaping tweezers. Available from most big names- Seachem, JBL, Dennerle etc.
Where is part 3?
Is it the Stock lighting for the lido 120?
I think so 👍
What would a setup like this cost with Co2 and the hardscape you have and substrate
Altogether for the tank and everything you’re looking approx £1000 I would guess.
Where can I find part 1 please?
To Pete.
Please may I suggest a pair of German Blue Rams and, perhaps a Blue Diamond
Angel Fish?
Merci
Do you hafto wash dennerle scapers soil and JBL pro scape soil
No, best not to wash it. And fill tank very slowly with water to prevent clouding
Hey awesome channel ☺ Keep it up!
Hi George very informative video once more. Coincidentally I’m just setting up a lido 200. I’ve posted a critique my hardscape thread on ukaps titled dragonstone and big wood . I’d greatly appreciate any feedback. Many thanks. Keep on scaping.
Hi David, I’ll take a look now. Thanks 👍
When I was watching this I never thought of fish do I have to add them ha
Fish choices: Otocinclus, Ember Tetra, Cherry Barbs, Amano shrimp
Can't find part 3 :(
Looks great! thanks for sharing
😄
I think snake skin barbs would look sick in that scape.🤙
Love it
The hardscape looks like a "The Birth of Venus" painting. But, I might just be seeing things. Lol!
id put 20 ish green neon tetra and some dario dario
Tank size please let me know??
Google Juwel Lido 200
Briliant
That first stone is always nerve wracking...
who you by the stonnes
5 bosemani rainbows, 5 sterbi corys and 1 super red bristle nose
I would love to put some clown killis in there.
Sweet scape. More importantly, what are your thoughts on Wendy's dropping a new mixtape and officially beefing with McDonalds and Burger King? Who will win this patty fueled showdown? Will it escalate to violence? I guess we all have to pick sides now. Sorry BK and MickyD's but I'm apart of Wendy's gang now.
... anyone can cook lol!
