Great video. I trained in an older 55 Baron with a Colemill Conversion. Those 300hp engines made a big difference on that airplane. And, it was lower weight as well. But THIS P-Baron has it all !
I have some time in the PBaron and it is a dream to fly. The door configuration is related to stresses on the fuselage from the pressure vessel. Smaller doors have less total pressure per side and the pressure vessel does not require as much bracing. Thanks for the video. Brings back great memories.
Was ready to hear “In the armmmsss offff an angel” haha. Can’t kill the vibe with sad dog video songs. Super interesting to see the difference in engine management with the turbo p-baron. Thanks again!
so this is what people without boats do. darned thing sounds terrific. very incredible video.
Beggin Strips! LOL Bacon is a good healthy diet! Nice flight, good job in avoiding the weather, looking forward to more in this series! :)
I just started watching your videos, i really love how you explain the Technical aspects of the flight so its not only fun to watch but a bit educational aswell, which i think for up and coming new pilots they will learn valuable information for their future in aviation.
Welcome to my channel and thanks for watching! I try to mix entertainment with informative without feeling like you’re being taught. Glad you find these videos fun and useful.
Thank you for the visuals during your trip. Helps us non pilots to understand better.
Glad it helps.
...yet another informative and very enjoyable flight...with BP , SIC and the AC...wonderful videoooh...and lovin' on the Kim Cam...with bacon...
Sweet Kris enjoyed it! Gotta love AC, we have it in our TR182 RG and it is awesome to have in south TX. Very nice P Barron!
Good Day. This is my 2nd flight with you. Very informative and well shown and produced. You two are a fun team. Clear Sky's
Cool video, and great flying, as always. Thanks for sharing.
Great videos. As a new pilot it is really a good learning experience to watch you fly. Thanks.
Thanks for watching and I hope my videos help you a little.
Lore has it that Beech moved the aft door to the left side of the aircraft, and reduced the opening size, to balance out the ‘large holes’ (doors) to one on each side of the fuselage to help with structural strength needed from pressurization. You’ll also notice there are significantly more rivets on the 58P compared to other 58 models. That and the left side door are easy ways of identifying the P model from others on a ramp.
Lovely plane, friendly, nice guys. The weather is not quite suitable, but nothing, a beautiful flight. Thank!
Awesome vid looking forward to the rest
Thanks for the rides!
Another great flight. Always enjoy the ride along.
She thought that was short the runway at my house is 2500 feet. It is tight for some planes. But we flew our Duke off it all the time. And a customer flew a king air in all the time
Beautiful aircraft. Good video on a typical flight. Busy airspace. I used to fly 727 freighters out of Miami and Orlando back to Louisville. Finished up on 747-8 freighters. Now I fly my C206G out of Wyoming hometown to backcountry airstrips in Idaho,Montana and Utah. Sometimes I wish I had a turbo!
As a "Ford" man, I think this P-model is the "Lincoln" of Barons. In addition.....GREAT filming composition and editing (as usual)!
Nice video, they are getting better... Thanks !!!
Not long after getting my Commercial Multi I got to ferry a 58P Barron from KIXD down to KOPF. Still one of my most memorable flights.
Another Great job, thanks for the ride.
I have always wanted to fly a Baron. I just love the look of them. That would be pretty awesome to have pressurization in such a small plane. I hate having to wear a cannula. Great video.
Sweet ride! Impressed with the quality of this
Love your copilot choice;enjoyed the flight
@@garysmart8158 I Thought The Sweet Ride Was The Co-Pilot
That gear looked pretty awesome retracting over the end of the runway.
Really enjoy your channel and your explanation of things while flying! New subscriber.
Welcome to the channel and thanks for subscribing 👍🏼
Enjoy your videos. While everyone's opinion varies, of the three, the later generation straight 58s with the IO-550s is my personal favorite. The 58P is noticeably heavier on the controls, and doesn't fly quite as well to me. And as you saw, it uses a lot more runway for takeoff. Accelerate/stop numbers are quite a bit larger. Harder to land, too. Faster, but burns a lot more fuel. Beneficial with a tailwind, but going high into an increasing winter headwind is a wash with the straight 58 flying at a lower altitude, yet it is consuming quite a bit more fuel. I ran into this situation frequently while flying it 135 many moons ago. Still a nice machine though. Thanks again for your posts!
Great video guys!!
I was happy when he sync'd the flights :) great flight
always love your videos you do a great job thanks
Nice flight and thanks for all the great videos! I got a commercial tune for Kim to sing. How about the Ken-L-Ration one? You know, "My dog's better than your dog." LOL
Reminds me of a sick baron I flew in back in the day. It was super loaded with everything and insane leather. Owned by a tv station.
Thank you, I enjoyed the ride
Cool plane. Looking forward the rest of the series. Sorry, can't think of any pet commercials, but thanks for getting the meow mix pme stuck in my head! 😵😉
Nice smooth ride
You nailed it, Kim! Lovin the Meow Mix!
I know, I'm like 2 yrs late, lol
those 300hp engines certainly had a remarkable impact on that airplane's capabilities. Not to mention, it had a lower weight profile. But when it comes to this P-Baron, it truly appears to be the complete package!
Great video, thank you
It was a perfect flight all except for the singing part. :) Just kidding guys. Always a pleasure to ride along and you have developed Kim into a real great copilot, even if she does eat fat.
and the nose piercing
I heard Flexjet 578 on frequency. That’s one of the Challenger 350s I fly. That’s one sweet P-Baron. Not too many of those around these days.
Nice aircraft! I was a bit disappointed about the FOD on the ramp at the end, though. lol
As soon as the water bottle hit the ramp I yelled out FOD Walk....
@@usmcdevildawg5655 sounds like you have done a number of those FOD walks. I recalled doing a lot of useless walks at El Toro, just because.
You Both are Terrific People!
Thank you for the kind words.
Congratulations on your engagement
Awesome, can’t wait.
Nice flight.
As always, there is no prettier SIC than Kim... I'm still totally amazed though. How in the world does she keep SO thin when all she does is EAT? Its a mystery that's for sure.. Beautiful flight in an amazing plane... Like you said, the 'P' does everything well AND it's got A/C!! Yeah..... I know if I where in the market for a piston twin, I'd HAVE to give serous consideration to a "P"... Great video as always guys. I just love the way you guys always seem to have SO much fun flying together.... It's a thing of 'beauty' for sure....
Another great video.
Beggin Strips is one of my fav animal commercials. I think my fav is “Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike....guess what day it is! Guess what day it is!”
The Bacon Baron. Nice flight
Good video. Thank you.
amazing video!..hey..your singing reminded me of a Top Gun dialogue..
Charlie: "Listen, can I ask you a personal question?"
Maverick: "That depends."
Charlie: "Are you a good pilot?"
Maverick: "I can hold my own."
Charlie: "Great, then I won't have to worry about you making your living as a singer."
greetings guys! you are great.
Must be nice! Your airplane is at the Avionics Shop for major upgrades and you get an even better airplane to fly in the meantime. You must be living right!!
That why I love the P-Model and because of pressurization and too keep everyone happy
Great video, I enjoy flying vicariously since I'm not a pilot, just a big fan! Do you think there is a need to amend the pre-takeoff checklist to include an item for "hair"?!
what a great flight thanks
Great to see the P Baron ! Really nice aircraft. But I still love your 55 , and look forward to see it when it comes out of the shop.
A really nice avionics upgrade.
Then, next up is air conditioning ??? Really need that in Florida., sorry kim. Thanks again for another terrific video !
Good looking, sense of humor, eats bacon, perfect!
Agreed 😉😎
Good comparison, interesting differences. Go Beechlife!
Got to love the BeechLife 🙊
Nothing like cold AC on a hot day!
Bacon is health food? Not sure where that info comes from, but I like it!
Awesome hair, SIC!
Can you tell me what brand sunglasses you both wear? Thanks. Great vids.
Love my 58P! We fly ours about 220 hours a year and if you practice progressive maintenance annuals are usually less than $10k! We routinely fly 21-23k and get 220-225kt true. They become a different beast when you get above the teens. Also not a fan of LOP on a P baron the savings isn’t worth it. If you fly P barons fuel isn’t where to save money.
How long did it take to learn the maintenance?
Where do you take it for annuals?
@@Chuckyeager1942 there is a wealth of knowledge on P barons at beechtalk. I do a mid year 100 hour and then the annual. Fly regular and respect the engines and it’s a beautiful bird. I do my annuals either with Broadies in FTW or a small shop at my home field.
Very nice!
Pretty cool videos! Regards from FRA
Moving onto d/c I love these vids looks like alot goin on up there reminds me why I'm going for an amt an a demand im doing pretty well on paper would love more hands on thou that will come im sure but what a great vid to acclimate one who never seen an aircraft up close or even work on one so i try an share these with my classmates
Salut tank you vidéo magnifique super
What was the deal on your mixtures on final? How come not full rich?
I love your videos. If I could have seen then back in the 1970's when I flew my E55 Baron around the country I would have been a much better pilot. Love W
I think the reason for the doors on the P being on opposite sides of the fuselage is to do with structural integrity with a pressurised airframe.
ding ding, we have a winner. Gotta spread the load. I'll bet the stringers are beefed up as well with an extra frame around the openings. PS. "animals are great, animals are great, animals are great."
Winner winner chicken dinner. We got a genius here. lol
Man, you zoomed out of that 2600 strip! Amazing video, looking forward to seeing more of this plane. One request - think you could do an interior cabin tour for us?
Elliot Britton And then there is accelerate-stop distance. (Eyebrows raised)
@@mannypuerta5086 you treat it like a single engine airplane and take your chances.
@@jeffking3693 Well, thankfully, professional corporate and the airlines don’t. If anyone wants to do what you say, I hope they’re flying solo when no one else unknowingly places their life in the pilot’s hands.
I think this one of Mindy's favorite airplanes. Never asked before how many airplanes are you rated in.
Love your channel.👍🇺🇸
Thank you 😊. Be sure to spread the word 🍻
Another superb video!🥇 I like the gnarly weather views and🌧 cloud fly-by shots. Also always enjoy the all pilot tech talk. I have my PPL but I'm still enjoying learning about other types of planes and instrument flight techniques and procedures. Kim - I am looking for a copilot and adventure lover who likes planes and is fun like you. Since my divorce, I've dated some but if she doesn't like flying it's a deal breaker.. one of my non-negotiables. How did you two meet? (AND I was hoping for the duet on that grease track you started singing :D
Met at work. But I’m with you, none aviation lovers are a deal breaker. Non negotiable.
@@BaronPilot could you subtitle the atc communication to the foreign viewers?
Love the BeechLife swag! Maybe I'll be the first in KVRB.
Need to show the world your love for the BeechLife.
Awesome. I want to fly someday.
LOL! "Negative, Ghost Rider..." Fantastic!
Listening to the power on takeoff is great!!! Don't be scared of it Baron Pilot and let it flow
Can you get the FTA A/C unit for a 55?
I don't speak English. C'est un vrai régal de vous regarder échanger en volant. Bonjour de la Guadeloupe île française dans la Caraïbe
You got to sing the skittles bunny commercial lmao
So Awesome!! In a couple years I am going to purchase an 84 or 85 58P. I have searched UA-cam for videos of a 58P and wanted to see the pressure controls and I have found none until now. Thanks and the Baron is my favorite twin in fact got my multi many years ago in a TravelAir. Love the videos, keep them coming!!
Flying this airplane really makes me want one.
Baron Pilot, as I started looking and I set a budget of $250K engines at TBO for a 58P, I really liked all the changes to that airframe and cockpit in the 84 and 85 models. I was thinking if I bought one at TBO I could drop reman engines in and would not worry about how someone else had flown them. Well the bad part is that I have to increase my budget to double or more than double to get what I want, lol. But the resale is so high on them, I think it would just end up being an investment that held value. I can’t wait to see more. I ordered a shirt too yesterday.
That’s some of the fastest gear extension / retraction I’ve seen on a plane.
Very nice plane. What is the square in the middle bottom of the windshield for?
Hot plate to melt the ice on the windshield.
I just came across this video and Kim my favorite dog commercial is “Bacon, Bacon, Bacon”!
I love your videos ❤
Thank you 😊
Love the flight: Bacon, water, AC and $2.98 for 100LL. Life is good
Great video Kristoffer! And by the way, all Barons are Cadillac's. ;o)
TRUE 😎
Anyone knows how to fly without Foreflight these days?
Merely teasing :) Great video, thanks for sharing!
Is FLA ever "without weather"?
Great demo flight! P Baron is the way to go👍🏻. I’ll see if you’re in KPGD, next time I fly there to visit friends. Are you trading up, from the 55? Captain Dave, Cherokee six, Eric and Captain Valerie’s friend from sun n fun
Just out of curiosity what’s the monthly ownership costs of a P58 Baron like the one in the video?
Pressurized sure looked great.
Fine job in flying the P. You need to get your GF into the loop and she can be your co-captain and be a valuable asset with a crew concept. The P is a great plane, but your 55 is pretty hard to beat flying around FL and the SE.... just add ac and your set. I've enjoyed my 58 for over 25 years now, flying to every state in the US except Hawaii. Hard to beat and don't miss having a turbo or pressure for most of the trips. Now the trip to Alaska, pressure would have been nice flying over the mountains.
Keep up the good work and let us know what you get for air conditioning.
So you bought the P58?
Definitely a sweet plane. When are you taking me up? Come to Chicago and we can do the Chicago skyline and hit up Pilot Pete’s!
Just started watching live in Venice
That was a very well made video. I enjoyed it immensely.
I do not have a pilots license. But I have spent many pleasant hours with a Baron on Flight simulator ten. It swiftly became my favorite of all the planes available.
With it set to realistic I was able to take off from Meigs (which no longer exists in the real world) and make touch and go at Midway, then Ohare, and back to Meigs for a landing. I did it for the challenge and the rapid practice. You had to land on the first ten feet of runway at Meigs, and get hard on the brakes or you were going in the lake. LOL
Another fun test was to take off from the field near Richland Center, WI then touch down at S&S ranch. I had to use the GPS to find S&S and get lined up for that. What drew me to S&S is the factory there where they make motorcycle parts, and the fact my father was born there in a house that is still lived in. Another one that has no room for mistakes, but it was fun.
Some of the fields in Alaska were a blast. It might be boring to a real pilot like yourself but the scenery and the visual sensation of flying and landing safely were most entertaining to me.
I subscribed so I can watch more videos from you.
Meigs Field breaks my heart and many others. Welcome to the channel and thanks for subscribing!
Nice Baron! But I like the panel in yours better. Looking forward to my social distancing shirts getting here :o)
My panel is way better and getting even better. But I do love this airplane. Let me know when you get the shirt.
Did you rent this machine or do you have a great friend?!
Nice flight Very nice information on the two different Barons. Kim if you want to sing the Seresto Seresto Seresto🎶 song in your voice not Jake's that'll work. 🌹👍😁
