Yea. The digital version was a bit hard to program. You had to update the FC, goggles, the air unit. Root it, add extensions, then program the cli. But worth it to get the OSD working.
@@chadcarpenter9742 If you do it right, yup. I will be testing the best analog rig I can put together here shortly. It has over twice the output power as the DJI systems we use. I expect half the range. This is mostly due to digital’s ability to reject multipathing / bad video signals. Analog can be good in the right environment with the right setup, but rarely better than DJI’s digital system 🤙
Nice job. I did something similar a year ago with a 3d printed RC car (the Tarmo4), and adding DJI FPV to it. SO much fun! Does your gimble prevent bouncing in the FPV video? That makes mine tough to drive, but it is still fun. I really liked your head tracker, and functional mirrors. Buzzers on drones are used to find it if it crashes in a field, so I was skeptical when you said it was an anti-theft device, but then I saw your other video! LOL.
FPV cars are sooo fun. The Gimble doesnt seem to help too much for the video, but drivable for sure. I am installing the proline duo shock system soon to see if there will be a difference.
This is great info, I do wish you went deeper into the settings for the FC to activate 3d motors and forward→neutral←reverse. Also are you using dshot? If so 150,300,600? I've been working on a build very similar to yours with a hosim x07, speedybee f405 v4 stack(still on the fence about this esc vs a true RC car unit), gps, analog fpv(head tracking is a bit expensive for me ATM), elrs for telemetry paired with a radiomaster pocket, and analog vtx. Having the hardest time figuring out reverse from motor 1(only motor)after dshot is enabled. Installed bluejay on the eac and enabled 3d motors in FC, ripping my hair out!! Lol
how about using the fc also for handeling steering and throttle? youll need to use inav then. also for your next fpv rc car why dont you use the "speedybee f405 wing APP"
I did try to use a few Wi-Fi remote cars, signal pretty weak that I can drive those in my yards front & back, tried to use GoPro mini11, same thing lost signal as I close my door when I was in side my house.

Not know how good its long term quality , yet just carrying camera around both fron/ back yard , while monitor screen inside my house, it’s signal range seems to be strong. Cool car. It's always interesting to see other solutions to various problems. Did you consider running the car straight from the flight controller? This way you could dramatically reduce the amount of wiring and have flight modes, stabilization, full osd features and statistics when you disarm.
I thought about doing it on my NX8. But a car remote is such a smooth diving experience compared with a flight controller. Plus the ABS and gyro helps.
@@thelawfamilyproduction329 I use a stick controller because that is what I'm used to. Theoretically it could still be done on a trigger controller. You just have to set your neutral trim to match the FC. My setup uses the FC to run the car. Feels similar to flying a quadcopter with arm, disarm, osd, stats, modes etc. Heading hold in iNav works just like ABS.
Planning on doing this to my Xmaxx but adding an ELRC unit allowing me to roam my whole neighborhood from the comfort of my home. Very complicated but definitely possible. But I do have to ask, for the air unit fans where do you connect the JST connector and what If I have 2? I am also looking on the website for the speedy bee and there seems to be no connector for the balance cable, is it just the esc port?

how do you set the GPS in order to make a home point direction and a flight time? iam using speedybee F405 too, i can get the satelites but i cannot get the home point direction.. i think that it must require an "arm command" for get the home point directions, is it true?
I've got a little 1:16 I gave the fully articulating camera w/flashlight, it has 1.3ghz AV and 5.8ghz relay for my LCD screen. Everything about the car was extremely easy to setup, but the hard part is still the video quality and distance. 5.8 was great for me at high power until I got that extra foot outside my limit, which was maybe 50 feet tops through obstructions. 1.3ghz was not much better, but did penetrate well.. however the distance only improved another 50-100 feet tops for me. It blows my mind how buying a DJI and goggle system is basically giving orders of magnitude better reception. Like, it's got to be something around 100X better than any 1.3ghz system but I've yet to see any real explanation as to how it's possible.
Yea video and distance for FPV RC Car is the hardest thing to do. DJI have some sort of magic that makes everything work. Not sure if it's the channels, hardware, etc. But the dual 5.8 works really well. The upgraded antenna from TrueRC helped with the range when I tested them. Check out Chadd RainsFPV for the 03 air unit instead. I think it has better range penetration than my set up.

I suppose it's also possible since I've only tried about 5 different transceivers that none of them were any good. I know some other guys using different similar air units that are cheaper but I'm just going to go straight to the DJI without possible steps in between lol. Part of me has the creeping feeling it's not so simple and involves various other factors (such as location) but I guess I'll see!

Only solution I really found not having a built in camera mic was to use a little electret and extra amp board for it. It works but the sound is so crappy I only just mainly hear the motor. I can hear the steering servo move and stuff like that etc but if someone were standing in the room talking it just wouldn't come through. This has been the case with basically any audio setup I've tried.

Amazing work! I heard that Dji O3 air unit need a flight controller armed to get the full power mode out of it. How can i bypass that mode without using any flight controller. Thanks😊
If you want something that is very easy to set up, but want a camera system. Check out the Radiolink rc8x. They even sell the camera and receiver system from the same company. Once installed then you can have the camera system directly on the remote screen. Should be an easy install.

@gprov590 I think in theory it should work. The head tracking takes up the port on the controller for the elrs unit. And you should be able to control the gimbel on the controller switches. Check out ChadFPV for his elrs build.

The new HD goggles I use for quads and planes, unfortunately, don't link up as easily as my analog goggles though, as in the setup we're speaking about, so there hasn't been a Walksnail based HD ground build yet.

Not with this set up. I know some dude was able to do it if programmed with a regular air receiver. But with a car remote w/ gyro and a.b.s it is a different set up
@@thelawfamilyproduction329 your speed and things come from the gps that is on the flight controller not the esc. Did you turn the motor protocol off on the motors tab in betaflight at least?
@gotdrift8 I could have plugged the battery with a capacitor with a switchboard to control the electric current, but I found it easier to just stack the unit and clean. There is no need to turn motor control off as the car is controlled via the Radiolink controller with abs and traction control.
I do these videos as a hobby, but feel free to ask any questions on these comments. In the near future, I will be working on another build video for a smaller RC car but a much simpler way to build it.

I might consider selling this local. And build a new system on the X maxx. The Camera can be programed to turn more, but it might damage it if it goes over 180 degree angle The total cost will be closer to $2000 Canadian.

Haha I had a flight controller plus the normal receiver on it. Only way to get that range.

Haven't tried it myself, but some people have connected a communication system with an analog system.

Why use the esc from speedybee? Can't you just power the FC with 5v
You can. But you won't get any telemetries such as direction, speed etc. Thought it was important to feel like driving a real car.
