Hey Rachel, any chance of you and Colm doing ever 1)Last good bye 2)I see fire Gratitude from Mithrandir Please send your reply to The shire, bagend, middle - earth
@@ColmRMcGuinness I m impressed by how high you can go…I can’t even always reach those notes, and I’m kinda between mezzo soprano and soprano! Untrained, but still. Love seeing your skill!
Honestly, it adds so much to include Rachel's voice in the chorus. Thematically, it changes it to feel like it is not just her father, but the entire nation of Kul Tiras singing/scolding at Jaina. Also, I love Colm getting a solo for this. Don't get me wrong: I love the singing triumvirate, but it's that more special to hear that tenor on its own. Fantastic work, the both of you!
The Warcraft version did it's job well by delivering heavily on the Cinematic/epic choir feel with this song. This version of the song delivers amazingly on grounding this song in reality with how well it is sung. You would not be surpised if you walked in a Tavern by the port and hear someone sing this as everyone stays warm by the fire and exchanges stories. Or you could totally imagine hearing this version being sung in a musical.
@@petezAAPete it actually did make it into the game. i distinctly remember a boat ride during the story in zandalar where your going from where you crash land on the shore (alliance war campaign) to the other area (cant remember the name but its the area with the dark irons) one of the npc on the boat was singing it.
Your sweaters always look so comfortable. Also, this was am amazing rendition. Both vocalists painted a vivid picture of the story, even were I not a huge WoW fan I'd be in love with this song. 10/10
Whoa, that was haunting to the n-th degree. You guys nailed the emotional response the original was going for, and Rachel's final line, while not carrying the same threatening weight as Bailey's original performance as she completely stopped the song and just spoke the last line with murderous intent, I think she nailed the idea in from a musical perspective, it's unique, and provides a complimentary take on the original.
This song is the "theme" for one of my favourite D&D characters, a pirate captain with wicked family whom she betrayed and left for dead out of guilt for the crimes of their family. Guess I need to add this cover to that playlist now. Thanks, Colm & Rachel!
Beware, beware the daughter of the sea Beware, I heard him cry His words carried upon the ocean breeze As he sank beneath the tide Those blood-soaked shores of Kalimdor Where sailors fought and died The admiral fell at Theramore Because she left his side Why this? Why this, oh daughter of the sea? Why this? Did you forget your seaside days? Always the pride of our nation’s eyes How could she go astray? When she did flee across the ocean deep The admiral followed west What else but sail to save a daughter’s life And pray she still drew breath? But there he found upon those distant shores Enemies ’pon the rise! But when he faced those savage foes His daughter stood aside And buried deep beneath the waves Betrayed by family To his nation, with his last breath, cried Beware the daughter of the sea! I’m listening now, father I heard, I heard, across a moonlit sea The old voice warning me Beware, beware the daughter of the sea Beware, beware Of me
Thank you for sharing. Reading it, I tried singing it, although, Idk if I sang it correctly. I got to the part, near the end, about buried beneath the waves, and the rest of the song had me feeling the power of the words. Although, the shivers are, now, gone I still feel the power of it.
Rachel has the perfect voice for this song .. and Colm seems to be able to play every instrument, as long as it has strings. I am utterly impressed 🌺⚓️
@@maryaigler7651 If I'm not mistaken, a lute can refer to any stringed instrument. By the way, that was a bouzouki or an octave mandola, depending on how the strings are tuned. I'm guessing Irish bouzouki, though. A mandolin is smaller, and is one octave higher than this long-necked relative.
Really beautiful and haunting at the same time. Your voices go very well together. And Colm, cudos to your improvements on your upper register. Your high parts sound terrific (ok, along with the lower rest, but that's now taken for granted). And the production is also spot on. Enjoyed your collab verrry much. Cheers!
Thanks so much Bernd! I read your entire email and took a lot of it to heart! It's one of the most important pieces of constructive criticism I've read and I can't state how much I appreciated your input. Sorry about the delay in response to it, but again, It taught me quite a bit about my own sound that I never really considered and I agree that my mid-higher register appears to be the 'Colm-sound'. Cheers for your time, kind words and feedback, brother!
@@ColmRMcGuinness Hi Colm, thanks, I am really glad, that I could contribute a tiny little bit. You share your art so generously and with such dedication, that you deserve more than cheap criticism. This is absolutely excellent!! One of my favorite songs from WoW and this is just fantastically done. Very happy you included the “beware of me” at the end. Most covers I’ve heard cut it off and it drives me insane. Really loved the duet - like it was both Jaina and the Admiral singing. I just love this so much!
At this point everything you both Collab on turns into pure gold. The previous song (My Jolly Sailor Bold) has been on repeat in my Spotify list for such a long time. I love it to the moon and back. This song will be added to that playlist! Love you both!
Hi Colm! Thank you for the song with Rachel. For this one, I must say I will draw attention to the professional instrument performance. Your posture and clean sounds really help keep the rest of the 'space' clear for the softer vocals to come through, and that's a win :).
Better and better every song Colm does tops the last. The duets are always a amazing mix of the voices. Another surprising addicting song please keep them coming.
Yeeeeeees I can't WAIT for this! This one's already going in my playlist before it even comes out... You two together on this song is just fated to be amazing holy smokes...
Ohh this is incredible; y’all’s first collab was what got me into both your channels and this 2nd collab doesn’t disappoint. Spectacular-and I usually don’t even like this song. 10/10
You two have truly magical voices and this performance of this amazing song (which brought me back to WoW some time ago) is unforgettable experience. Thank you very much for this. Listening to both of your channels almost every day.
I can't tell if it's the choice of songs you collab on, or the beauty of your voices together, but I get goosebumps every time! I can't love this enough!!
I've been begging Rachel for a cover of this song ever since we got in touch(March 2020). It took forever(I'm not a very patient man, I know), but boy, the BLOODY WAIT WAS WORTH IT. And, Rachel, you couldn't have picked a better partner in crime. From a grateful patron: Thank you for always delivering.
The emotion in this performance is incredible. You can feel the pain and anguish, not only of a man, but of a parent, a ruler and a people. Now if you'll excuse me I've got to go see whos cutting onions.

Eyyyy thanks friendo! Loved your version! Must work again soon 🤜🤛
Thanks Lauren!! When are all three of us doing a collab?
Ok hear me out.
We all sing in a stairwell.... ON a ship!

@@ColmRMcGuinness that could make for a very cinematic video!
Somebody send this to Laura Bailey, what an outstanding rendition and performance from you both!
its even better because colm mcguinness did the soundtrack for critical roles second campaign, so they are already aware of him
He did?! Nice!
Seriously. Rachel and Colm's rendition of this song is right up there with Laura Bailey's original version.
...I kinda want to hear him sing it with Laura some time now.
Watched Laura perform this live at BlizzCon 2018. It was incredible.
That "of me" at the end *shivers*. Beautiful performance from both of you !
Rachel did a sick job on it! When I was editing the video for the first time and saw the finished ending, I stood out of my chair!
