He's one of my favorites as well because he's so relatable. Everyone has a Davy Jones inside of them, and all it takes to set him free is one betrayal too many. This song definitely captures that aspect of the character.

Davy Jones is probably my all time favorite villain and I knew about Fialejas cover for a while by now but I NEVER imagined you to make a cover for it. Lemme tell you, I couldn't be happier right now. Alarm is set for the premiere, I'm NOT gonna miss this one
If only they had let him be the villain of the third movie too. Far more compelling and tragic character, and Nighy and the effects team did an amazing job.

If Disney wants to right their ship of floundering movies, a well done prequel, featuring this story of Davy Jones falling in love with calypso and becoming corrupted would be the best way to do it.
And meeting with the first Brethren Court and Pirate King.

People have been going out enmasse to see Deadpool and Wolverine, so when competent people are involved, and there is no woke BS involved, people would probably watch. The issue is Disney routinely goes woke, and very often goes out of their way to tell everyone they are doing it. Like the announcement that they are making Bonnie Anne a black character, even though she was a real person and white.
A Davy Jones Prequel series would have obviously had a black female lead along side Jones, since it was already established Calypso is a black woman. And no one would have cared.

@@danielsnook7362 Totally. For the longest time, I would interpret the idea of the line as "if you cut someone they'll never heal" which is a terrifying enough curse to inflict onto someone. But now I see it could refer to invisible wounds like anger and betrayal. These emotional wounds can push men to become monsters.

What makes me happy is every year since Pirates 5, somebody releases something Pirates of the Caribbean related, 2020 we had A Pirate’s Life in Sea of Thieves, and since then, the Depp v Heard stuff happened, sparking it up more, and then Filmento releases a few other videos praising Pirates of the Caribbean for it’s genius writing, and then we get colm here releasing a lot of other Pirates of the Caribbean stuff. Not to mention the potential of Depp returning for Pirates 6

Davy is such an amazing villain because he actually has a backstory. He was betrayed by live, and he became a broken man. He's not evil, he's hurt and feels betrayed. And I think what makes him hurt more is that he loves her so much that even after everything she put him through, he still loves her even though he doesn't want to.
He couldn't even stop after he cut out his own heart.

In a sense Davy Jones is the Dracula of the seas. Both great men capable of great love, forsaking their humanity and turning into literal monsters in the process once the love is cruelly taken away. Not exact a copy of each other of course but they're not so different.

Davy Jones is honestly a really cool character design. His love and passion drove him into villainy as he became a literal monster from having it used against him, and despite the past he shared with Calypso turning him into that state, he can never forget her no matter how hard he tries.

This tune is still one of my favourite pieces of movie music. It has so much dynamism to its tone. You go from the soft, sad lullaby of the music box to the lamenting rage of the pipe organ.

They do not come form the film I can say that much for sure. I have the OST for this film, got it way back in the day, and they aren't part of the original.

Not to nitpick, but it’s more of a quartet. He does bass and tenor and then the two women have their parts. At the very least it’s a trio. Colm’s bass and tenor are amazing when overlayed like that.
Even after 16 years, Davy Jones' Theme still remains tragically beautiful.🫀

Davy Jones 100% needs his own movie where he falls in love with Calypso, and looks after those who died at sea for 10 years and then at the end of the movie we see him happily waiting for Calypso, but she doesn’t show and then we see him scream in anger as the sun sets and break down in tears. That would be the most depressing movie ever and I want- no… I NEED TO SEE IT!

This was one of the best POTC songs I ever heard! It nearly moved me to tears, especially with the addition of Rachel Hardy and Fialeja. This trio should do more songs together.

This group inspired my high-school show choir, we managed to compete with college groups from that performance. We brought home an open invitational collegiate regional reserve champion award. The first major choir win ever for choir at all.

I can relate. Over time some of the most heartless and determined and dangerous villains are all the ones who had their hearts torn out by tragedy.
This song always makes me think of a tale of a tortured soul that fell to shadow. Lost all sense of humanity, all except the love that they have for one that dare not fear them. That does not die from gazing upon them. Seeing who they truly are. Broken.
In the end, the shadow gives its heart for her. So that no harm may come to her, and that they may forever love eachother to the end of days.
