A fun little tidbit for the Nintendo PlayStation. After the deal with Nintendo didn't work out, Sony turned to Sega of America and offered a joint venture; however the Sega board of directors vetoed the idea and went with the Sega Saturn.
Sony was like “SEGA does what Nintendon’t, I think they’ll help up” only to have to make it themselves
for the Nintendo Playstation, you claim there was no CD hardware found, but had you even looked at the picture of the thing you would have noticed it is a tray loading CD drive and it is clearly RIGHT THERE on the thing, and had you searched youtube for two minutes you would have found videos where the thing has been tested working by Ben Heck and PatTheNesPunk.
He got 2 things wrong in that segment anyways. But yea, there was the hardware, but if I remember correctly, it was actually the software that was missing, or was so basic that nothing could run on it, until someone spent 1-2 years trying to get it work
Having been able to get 1 console every 4 or so years, I didn't get too many. Glad to know there were those even hardened players didn't get.
Nice job postin' this a day after Onaretrotip postin' 18 unreleased consoles yesterday.
Glad you properly labeled the Jag as 32-bit.
I’d love to see Johnson & Johnson develop a console - The NoMoTeario
Can only imagine how different gaming we be if Nin/PS stay together.
BattleModeBainbridge they would have a monopoly on the market
Reinaldo but then again Nintendo wouldn't have done a lot of things that PS did because of the kid friendly vibe Nin likes to have so we can only guess. *Hmmmmmmmmmm*
BattleModeBainbridge b
I doubt it would've lasted very long. Way too many egos involved. My guess is they would've split and it would've been ugly.
There’s one unreleased console you forgot about: Project Atlantis.
Project Atlantis was planned to be the successor for the Gameboy Color. Atlantis supposedly had a 160 MHz processor and 32-bit color graphics. The console was cancelled due to being to expensive to manufacture and short battery life.
@4:33 You mean Nintendo and Philips not Sony and Philips.
@5:47 The Amiga CD32 you show has a 68020 processor and not the 68000 you talk about what came in the older Amiga computer such as 500/500+ for starters, yes the 68020 is part of the 68000 series but it's not the 68000 chip.
@6:18 The Atari Jaguar was a 64bit and not 32bit.
Send me your videos before uploading them and I'll check them for you.
ZACH SPEIGHT who tf are you ??
Clearly Rich can't "Do The Math"
Nerd
EVERYONE knew about the Sega Neptune, Hyperdimension Neptunia is LEGENDARY after all :D
This is not sarcasm but an honest compliment: I am impressed that I'd only heard of two of these before from the Gaming Historian.
You mean, Nintendo tried to relaunch with Phillips? 4:34 That’s how the CDI became and those god awful “Zelda” games
1:33
"The CDO"
You mean "3D-O"? Sounded like you got it mixed up with the Phillips CD-i.
I also want to give you kudos for calling the Jaguar a 32-bit system, much to the dismay of the system's advertisements claiming it to be much more powerful.
How does one not know the one and only NepNep!?
What about the Nintendo Ultra 64?? The only mention of that was in the intro to Killer Instinct back in the day.
IIRC, The ultra 64 was just a codename for N64 before it got it's official name.
Why can't these gaming channels never name their videos "X things you MIGHT not know ever existed". Because yes, in fact I knew about the Neptune.
Same. Feel like the Nintendo and PS deal was commonly known about as well.
They told it wrong as well.
True Pika. I read about the Neptune in a gaming magazine in the 90's and the Nintendo/PS deal is fairly common knowledge now.
It's click-bait. Pure and simple.
The amount of mistakes in this video are hilarious. Rich as Atari said "Do The Math" Jaguar is 64 bit console not 32 bit that was the whole slogan. Also when did Sony & Philips make a console? Oh you meant Nintendo...
Moron. The jaguar didn't have a 64 bit system. That was a lie. It used two 32 bit processors that they said added up to 64 bit, only they didn't work that way. They had two 32 bit processors that worked independently of each other. So instead of one 64 bit system, the jaguar was actually just two 32 bit systems. Which made it a pain in the ass to create games for which is why so many third party developers jumped ship to Nintendo, sega and Sony. It was just too complicated to create software for two independent 32 bit processors. Which was why the jaguar had so few games which was why it failed. Atari torpedoed itself.
The historical info about the 32x was all wrong tbf
Honorable mention should go to the Atari NES, which could have been released and was thisclose to happening.
Heard about all of them before except for the Wowow. I lived through those times when video game mags were full of rumours every month. ;-)
A CDO? I KNOW OF THE 3DO, but cdo.....
The Atari Panther was streets ahead
Imagine the stuff out now we don't know about
Who else managed to guess the first one thanks to the Hyperdimension franchise?
Atari Jaguar was not a 32bit machine. As we all know it was a 64bit machine.
Andrew McLean it has two 32-bit processors ("Tom" and "Jerry"), which created problems with developers who wanted to produce games.
RC from the NYC didn't say it wasn't without controversy but 64bit nonetheless.
The Atari Jaguar was 64 bit not 32 do some research
Regarding Namco’s system does anyone know how it would have compared to the NEO GEO?
What are you IGN?
I love this channel.

When you call yourself a master race like pc, you’re really not
I heard of the Sega Neptune never actually seen one though
The konix multi system.
What's a 'cdo?' Is it a mash up of the cdi and the 3do?
Yeah, everyone's heard of the Play Station.
Did you know sega used to make consoles? Nintendo dicked over Sony? Could you guys be any more patronising? This isn’t our first day on the internet & this isn’t the first list of this type. Oh, you are just aiming your videos at 8 year olds...
0:10 HAIL
...I thought Brits were legally required to say "snez" instead of s.n.e.s.?
I think I've actually had a Nintendo PlayStation I got rid of it pretty quickly.
Would give a thumbs down because you claimed Nintendo is not in the console war. They do not fight on the same level than Sony and Microsoft because of power. They fight with quality content.
I knew the atari
The Phantom :o
Sony and microsoft are like jedi and sith
Nintendo is like our lovable special needs relative

I Only now game cub because memes
Oh wow
This video has some terrible misinformation.
Nice
Heyyy
Atari Mari was the 3600 in Japan and east coast USA but it only sold 3,000 because Atari didn't know how to market the new system. Plus SNK was partners with Atari at the time and they were going to have Atari and SNK as first party but Atari was going bankrupt in early 2000 then SNK stop making new games.
Another thing was Nintendo PlayStation system. Sony made a offer with Nintendo to make the console that was CD base and if you didn't know the PSE console model was going to be the Nintendo model but sony wanted their games to be a first party and the person that made the super mario brothers, Zelda and star fox complained about what sony wanted and Nintendo sued Sony over the software and that ended their partnership with Sony. Then 1996 Sony announced the PSE then in 1999 they made the PS1 and they made only 1,000 games for the PS1 but the PSE had 100 times more then the PS1 so in 2001 they made the PSE Slim then 2002 the PS2.
Wow, it's like power doesn't always mean better...yuh hear that Xbox!? You too, Sony! Um, Nintendo, you're great, just keep doing what' you've always been doing,...that's staying 3 generations behind current hardware. It's not like you guys haven't done so successfully a billion times over the past several decades.
