GREAT VIDEO. RUDY IS ALWAYS A PLEASURE TO LISTEN NOT ONLY TO HIS PLAYING BUT HIS STATURE AS A SPEAKER. LOVE PREMIERE MAGAZINE. BOUGHT MY DAD MANY ISSUES. 💜
Rudy has always been one of my top 3 favorite bassists, mo matter what he plays, his tone always comes through beautifully, that unmistakable treble driven tone, he's a great performer and a real humble and classy guy.
@@davidmerlin3344 no Lee and Bob recorded on both ozzys first 2 solo records,. Rudy and Tommys name are listed on the inside jacket of the album...Tommy spent forever telling ppl that it's obviously not me playing drums on dairy of a madman. the lineup of Osbourne/sarzo/Alridge/Rhoads/airey never made a studio album together cause Randy died and eventually Rudy left and Bob was brought back in as bassist. plus Tommy left aswell a few yrs after Randy died Bob and Lee were pretty much fired .imo they were the best lineup... though with Rudy and tommy
Not always a good thing. Like most careers. The more jobs you have the more flags it raises. He is like a loaner bass player with no staying power. Why does no one want him long term?
Operation Mindcrime most definitely has a bass sound that is unique. Most all of Queensryche has an identifiable bass tone. I don't know if this bass is it, we need to hear it live, but that is a radical sound for sure.
That’s a bargain and you won’t find a more versatile, bass that covers everything you could ever want to play. Also I think it’s one of the most ergonomic and easy to play basses ever made. I don’t own one, but I will after 26 years of playing it’s next on the list.
Rudy! Rudy! Rudy! Imagine, circa 1980, and one of your best friends, guitar virtuoso Randy Rhodes, tells the former front man for Black Sabbath, that he won't play guitar for him without his bassist joining him. We all know the results. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall.
Hmm maybe on stage dog. Let us not forget the great Bob Daisley and a couple others, penned those first three Ozz albums thinking Blizzard of Oz was the bamd name. They used Rudy live, Bob in the studio.
Sir Sarzo is a great person..thanks for your help(at Mates) in the 80´s Rudy...being in a band isn't for my no more..I am my own person-keep rocking bro !
there was an interview of Rudy uploaded on youtube during 2008, it was shot in 1982, just after Randy Died, like the day or two, he looked fresh and young, hair long for that Diary Tour, the quality was supreme, i mean filmatic clear, you felt Randy Around him, it was like if you where in the room and Randy had not died and as if the band just rolled in grinding on a tour, the energy was still in the air but Rudy looked shocked and numb, i never seen a video of anyone from that time with Randy or just after his death that looked as good or if not BETTER then the photos and the video was raw, he paused allot to cry, some times to answer he had to take a breath, he was testifying to something.. i do not see this video online or know why anyone would hold it back, maybe Rudy himself does not remember it or knew the camera was on . anyone who knows please share info!
WOW ! SIMS pickups and mini toggles I'm guessing for coil tapping. SIMS are so versatile. I believe with the two pups you can get 16 variations. That P bass tone sounds magnificent. I do feel like he jumped ship from Peavey though, which saddens me. I'm a Peavey guy.
There was a 2nd red prototype that sold on reverb for $2000 The Euro Spector's should sell for quite a bit less.. Still waiting to get my hands on some Sims pickups..
Beautiful instrument, but also great showcase of the pickups. One without the budget for the full package could easily spend the $500 on the pickups and turn just about any bass into a tone monster.
Maybe so,I just get option paralysis with so many choices so it seems all i''m doing is dialing in tones instead of playing..With passive the road is more narrow, but more straight & long if that even makes sense.
***** Yeah man I feel you. You seem like you like things simplistic which is an excellent way to be I'm like that myself but I like to have a balance in between complicated and simple so I can just sit in the middle.
@1dabirdman Those Sims pickups are passive. It's the Bartolini pre-amp that is the active side. Very simple pickups, 3 options in each: Humbucker, Split-coil P, Single-coil J. The combination of two of them means so many more combinations and it's all genuine organic pickup in a casing that covers those classic tone positions. No witchcraft modelling, etc. Pure pickup.. Literally like having 15 basses in 1, but with very simple function. I highly recommend them just as passive pickups. The consistency across all strings is immense. Real game changers
specters are such a strange bass, something about there tone just stands out. back in the 80s before i even started playing guitar i noticed guys playing specter basses always sounded better, i mean always.
Absolutely. What Rudy says about Spector's and Queensryche' sound is dead on. Same can be said for early Alice In Chains, like Rotten Apple. The Specter really stands out.
Listening to him with Geoff Tate, he did NOT capture the bass tone sound from Operation Mind Crime at all. I'd bet the switch to Spector was purely a business decision.
That's great Rudy, Spector makes a fine bass. Did you know that 98% of concert goers will not even notice WHAT bass you're playing OR the difference in pickups or preamp? You're the only one, in the studio and at home that will notice any difference, besides the sound engineers. Look at how far up that bridge is! It's like a guitar. Hey Stuart, move it back an inch or two and make the Spector's more comfortable/playable and not such a long reach to the lower register.
Lawrence Cuccurullo I don't know about the 98% of people not noticing the bass. Maybe the drunkards won't notice, but anyone who goes to see a live show takes in every bit of it - insturments and musicians.
Lawrence Cuccurullo all that being said, I'm not patricurlarly a fan of that bass, but I'm just saying people do notice things, even if they can't tell you what affect the preamp has on anything, they can "hear" it.
The only Spector where one can access the 24th fret without fighting the body. Stuart needs to make them all like that. The neck is too long for ease of playing lower strings. Make it 21 frets and shorten the amount of arm stretch. Do we need all those settings? No we don't. HOWEVER its all about sales. The next new gimmick to lure people to open their wallets. Wonder if they sold any of these? Bet not. Guess he got tired of Peavey.

he's the kinda guy you ask to be in your band regardless if he can play an instrument.
Always has been one of my favorite bass player. Saw him live with Blue Oyster Cult and it was awesome. Sounded so good.
Sarzo is a legend.
Rudy is badass. One of my favorites player and nice human too
first time I saw this, I thought he was the bassist version of michael angelo batio.
metasublime No wig for Rudy!
I always thought MAB looks like Bart wearing his wig in 'Homer's phobia'?
Ha, haaah, Really. lol
SARZO RHOADS ALDRIDGE THE 3 BEST PERFORMERS OF ALL YEARS WHAT A BAND great music on diary of a madman
That wasn’t the musicians on DIary of a Madman. It was Rhoads/Daisley/Kerslake.
Only Randy was on Blizzard and Diary.

No one in rock history has a more extensive resume than Rudy sarzo
Not always a good thing. Like most careers. The more jobs you have the more flags it raises. He is like a loaner bass player with no staying power. Why does no one want him long term?
Billy Shehan: "Hold my beer."
Super cool interview indeed. Rudy is off the hook.
Operation Mindcrime most definitely has a bass sound that is unique. Most all of Queensryche has an identifiable bass tone. I don't know if this bass is it, we need to hear it live, but that is a radical sound for sure.
Charlie Foxtrot The 3rd I believe that Eddie plays an NS2 through GK 800rb. ....
$2899 WOW!!
Can't wait till these hit the used market in a few years..
The first ding would make me cry.

Well, it's been 4 years now, and the first time I've seen this bass. I'm curious, but I still LOVE my Peavey basses.
Awesome combo. Spector n Sarzo. Amazing. Tnks a lot.
Great looking bass. Spunds awesome too!!!
guys the passive vs part is a GREAT addition for the pickup vs wood discussion
Let the guy speak, for fucks sake. The interviewer just wants to interview himself.
That sounds incredible.
Rudy! Rudy! Rudy!

You can only imagine it, because it never happened. At least not according to Rudy himself. Read his book.
Sir Sarzo is a great person..thanks for your help(at Mates) in the 80´s Rudy...being in a band isn't for my no more..I am my own person-keep rocking bro !
One of my ultimate bass heroes
Rudy ur the best . Saw u back in the early 80s with QUIET RIOT
Rudy has always been a awesome bassplayer...oh and Spector IS the shit!!!😁😁😁
Rudy Sarzo steps up and joins the Spector fam ..rejoice !
Amazing bass, lots of versatility. SIMS pickups are interesting to say the least!
Rudy seems like such a solid dude!

Homeboy needed to shut up and let Rudy talk more! Great player and a class act, Rudy is.
Wow!! I want that Bass
Im so glad they are using the Bartolini . at least the consistency will be there .
Dammit, I was hoping for a 'lick' or two... LOL... Gotta love Rudy... Bass God extraordinaire!! :)
⬇ ...Thank You... \m/, ,\m/
I love Rudy

Those basses sound best when licked...
lolol this NAMM is the year of everyone switching endorsements
Love Rudy, but as a "passive" guy, those pickups frighten me!
1dabirdman those pickups are so good man so many options.
Maybe so,I just get option paralysis with so many choices so it seems all i''m doing is dialing in tones instead of playing..With passive the road is more narrow, but more straight & long if that even makes sense.

What's with his pinky / left hand technique?
Somebody say, "Hey nice Warwick!"...
when they should be saying "Hey nice Spector". Warwick ripped off Spector. Not the other way around.
Oi vay... irony Mr Ross...
I have a Spector bass and it Growls. Seriously !
Nice! Sucks for Peavey...but hey what'ch gonna do
Rudy is great.
specters are such a strange bass, something about there tone just stands out.
back in the 80s before i even started playing guitar i noticed guys playing specter basses always sounded better, i mean always.
I'm with you. They have a very distinct sound and the second I heard it I said "That's my tone!!!" 30 years later it's still my tone.
elevenAD The maple top, EMG's & preamp Is THE Reason !
Absolutely. What Rudy says about Spector's and Queensryche' sound is dead on. Same can be said for early Alice In Chains, like Rotten Apple. The Specter really stands out.
una pregunta y disculpen mi ignorancia, Rudy Sarzo no toca con tanto grado de dificultad
has anyone seen any videos or know any records where Rudy is playing this guitar??? Please let me know! thanks
COOL !
Love It !!! #Namaste XoXoX
What happened with Peavey, Rudy? Does the bass in pic (to your left) look familiar?
Great hair!
Hartley Peavey is gonna be pissed..
Rudy has been using Peavey/Cirrus since Whitesnake..
art...
What scale is he using at rhe beginning ? Any idea someone ?
He is quite skilled
Lol.he was using a peavey and he said the same shit. All these guys at Namm are about the flavor of the month.
Wow! Swiss army...bass!
If I wanted a bass guitarist ild choose Rudy or Jason newsted there idols of mine there bad ass dudes
What happened to Peavey, dude....?
Pretty much gone. I don't think they have USA builds anymore, only asian.
Peavey's gone downhill every since the step son took over.
sammy reynolds the moved away from their American products and now nobody cares.
Federico Malaman in the back lol
Listening to him with Geoff Tate, he did NOT capture the bass tone sound from Operation Mind Crime at all. I'd bet the switch to Spector was purely a business decision.
Joe McAllister I agree. His bass sounds great but the classic Spector sound is EMG PJ’s
Sounds great. Usually with these Spector demos the sound is so bright, my ears bleed.
FIRST FIRST FIRST good guy great player
Carlos Lozada 19TH 19TH 19TH

viva cuba
A beautiful bass....not for me though...way to complicated.
Rudy is kinda old and there isn’t a single grey hair :)
crguti The Cubans never age!
How is this like the ONLY NAMM video I've seen without a TON of background noise? :D
Take that stupid triangle thing off your microphone.
