"obviously I filmed that in slow motion" 😅 - you do yourself a disservice Fran, great clean work on the heavy bag 👊 Top video as always, look forward to more with this lockdown looming!
Hey Fran the way you turn your fist over on particularly your hooks is a thing of beauty..I can see the added whip and hear the pop on the bag..brilliant you can tell the hours you’ve put in instantly.. The boxing foundation program is teaching me so much mate thanks 🤛🏽🥊✅
Another great video, and great insights. I love your no-nonsense approach to the sport, Fran. You convey the message you aim to get across, and don't muddy it with unnecessary posturing or wasted verbiage.
So glad to see a new video up from you, Fran! Glad to see you're doing well. I just want to sincerely thank you for making these fantastic videos that you've been doing. They are practical and straightforward for a novice like me to learn from and use; and every time I come back to revisit an episode, I pick up more things and get a better understanding of the depth to boxing. I've been playing a boxing VR game called "The Thrill of the Fight" to practice while quarantining at home. It's been a great way to use all of the wisdom you've been imparting. So again, thank you so much for making these videos!
Thank you Jeff, and thank you for watching. Really glad to be in a position to help. More and more people are talking to me about VR boxing, I need to look into it👍
Hi Jeff, what is that VR boxing like? Does it feel a bit like boxing, apart from impact ofcourse, or does it realy feel like playing a computer game? Dont you go all sweaty with those googles on?
@@erikbakker1639 VR Boxing feels very realistic. You won't feel an impact like you would, but the feedback from the controllers gives your brain enough to know if you hit and how hard you hit. It feels very much like being in the ring and sparring with someone. Obviously there's not as big of a worry about actually getting hurt, but I think that adds to seeing more of the mind games and depth to boxing. For example, I typically start my matches with the intention to practice one or two specific things throughout the match, then evaluate what was working and what wasn't between each round. Yes, you'll get sweaty lol. My recommendation is to wear a headband, keep a fan on you at all times, and be ready to drink water out of a big silicone straw between rounds. After a match or a few matches I'll usually be spent and need to take a shower. I typically wash my headset's gasket and sanitize my controllers.
@@JeffReeves thanks, that sounds interesting, i realy miss sparring, heavybag and shadow boxing is great, but i miss "the game". What kind of vr set are you using?
@@erikbakker1639 I've got a Valve Index, but I have a friend that recently got a Oculus Quest 2 and said it's really good for entry level. If you plan on playing "The Thrill of the Fight" (which is the best VR boxing game out in my opinion), you'll need to connect it to a PC though. With the Quest 2 you can do that wirelessly, which is great for freedom of movement.
Looking good Fran, some excellent combinations combined with good form and footwork that is also fight realistic. We often see coaches teaching 4/5 punch + combinations that are simply not realistic, either by shot selection or lack of footwork. You have ticked those boxes with aplomb my learned friend, keep up the good work 👍🏻👊🏼
Ah thank you Berny, always nice coming from a fellow boxing practitioner. Hope you are keeping well pal, looking forward to seeing you on the circuit...whenever that will be👍
4:46 I noticed on the left hook you jump up, don’t keep your lead foot planted. I used to do that, and sometimes do, but my coach told me not to do that. Maybe I am seeing this wrong, or you’re doing it on purpose.
Hey Fran, a great video as usual, but I have a question about the body shots. In other videos you bent your knees to drop your body before throwing hooks and uppercuts, but in this video you throw them more from an upright position. Is there something like a rule of thumb, in which situation which version should be used? And one question about the angled side step. For me, as a beginne, it looks a bit like a dangerous move, because it's slower than for example a slip. Should i use a jab or maybe a duck during the step to increase my défense against possible counters? Thank you for your help and please dont stop teaching us such great things
Great video as always fran, do you think is important to keep combos basic twos and three punch combos. Watched Inoue this weekend and he does this a lot but changes either the tempo of the shots, or target so he'll throw a one two but do it so many different ways and at different speeds for each shot and switch targets head and body?
Yes, dynamic punching is always good and Inoue is great at that. 2 and 3 shot combos are always good I think just because you can add none punching skills to reduce the risk of taking incoming. It's wonderful being able to make someone miss.
1:29 when the coach decided to hang you up in a potato sack to show you the power of proper movement for making too many mistakes when he was trying to teach you how to do it properly for 60 bucks a month.
I envy those fortunate enough to train at your gym Fran. Even online, you've helped me so much to get better at this. All the best, my friend
Thank you, that's very kind of you to say.👍

Would love your opinion on a good all round heavy bag. So many types out now.
Great power
This was 🔥 coach 💚💚💚💪🏾
Really nice!
First time seeing you hit the bag, I’d hate for some poor man fellow to test coach!
I can run pretty fast too...over a short distance of course :-) Thanks for watching
Heavy hands my brother, coming from a 60yr old who's been doing this since 18..... senior's can still rock..
