These videos from England have been incredible. Thanks for sharing your travels with us. Seeing a town so old in such good condition in modern times really puts things into perspective.

That was amazing!!!!!! I read that there is a Yew tree growing beside the Church in Fortingall, Scotland that predates Christianity. 😲 So cool!!!!!!! Thank you💖

Great video. Highly likely about the Tolkien connection. Just down the road in Moreton in Marsh the Bell pub has a very strong connection to Tolkien as well, I can't remember why. Despite going past every week to go shopping! Same with Stratford upon avon. I also go past Shakespeare's birth place as well all the other tourist spots regularly, when you get used to going past something, despite knowing world famous buildings are there, it's far too easy to accept it so easily. At least we've done the open top bus tour a few times.

WOW, Chris, when viewed from the correct angle, it almost looks like the door was built into the side of the tree. That alone would make for an erie situation. Thanks for sharing.

Love the bells!! What I love about England and all of Europe for that matter is that buildings and other things are HUNDREDS of years old. Or like hear in the states when something is 100 or so years old, THATS old. Over there 100 years is still a baby!! Have a hard time wrapping my head around that!!

Exciting to see you rummaging around some of the amazing old villages of the Cotswolds - there are so many lovely villages to explore - hope you'll get to the Slaughters... Great to see the Yew trees around the church door up close & personal - shame the church was closed, fairly unusual (it would be the front door usually to enter.) Thanks for taking us along.

what I've read about yew trees, which are often found in English churchyards, is that they often pre-date the church building itself, and indicate the site of pre-Christian ceremonies

Sadly, this isn't the real England. It's a relic from the past, a tourist attraction, a picture postcard version of what used to be.

YEW TREES were very much prised for the making of archery bows, so as to pretect them they were planted in most of the church yards here in the uk.

Bring along large sheets of paper and a charcoal pencil or something like that to shade in the inscriptions on the tombstones. Give it a try anyway.

The first two lines in that Theresa Fanny's tombstone says: "SACRED / To the Memory of". It's an old Fraktur typeface which was used in European countries.

There’s a lot of old grave yards here in England that have a lot of Fannys on the headstones. You don’t tend to see any Fannys in grave yards these days
