*Needed a cooler for a work cubicle **Fastly.Cool** . It did just what I needed, so easy to used and really cooled the space. I am glad that I got it and would buy it again.*
We have a skylight on a flat roof that was made of some kind of plastic. It never leaked but a hinge broke away from the plastic and it's not reparable. The good thing was that it opened fully so we could get onto the flat roof once a year to clean off any leaves and debris. Are there any Velux skylights that open enough to allow access to the roof?
Plan on doing a double storey. The UK council say I have to set the first floor extension back 1 meter from the side of the ground floor build/boundary. I would be losing my exsisting skylights on the side of my ground floor. I want to install a single flat skylight but approx. 2 meters in length and under a meter wide on the bit of roof I'll have left on the ground floor to bring in light. Any advice will be much appreciated. Amy x
Great video, I'm about to choose solar skylight and I'm wondering if shades can be operable on same remote control as opening skylight or needs remote for the shades needs to be wired? Which one of these skylight are easy , more work to install solar or hard wired?
Agreed! See our blog for picking the right skylight for your bathroom or kitchen! www.cassbrothers.com.au/article/picking-the-right-skylight-for-your-bathroom/
I really want to add a skylight to my renovation plans for my attic. And the benefits of a skylight that opens seem great. However I've had squirrels camp out in my attic ceiling before (a problem I've corrected)... Are there screens to accommodate such concerns?
Hi Steve, Great video. I was wondering if you can interchange between a VS solar powered window with a GPL or GGL. If they're using say a S06 size. Is there any extra work due to it being solar or can I replace one with the other?
Hi rslab! Thanks for your good words about my video. It's always good to get encouragement. The installation of VELUX solar skylights is identical to regular VELUX skylights. I've put both in. I think the size designations are the same too, but I'd check with a dealer if I were you. I'm 99% sure they're the same, but that's not the same as knowing for certain. ***** Thanks Steve. I had talked to a preferred velux installer and he was a little confused on GPL and VSS. I guess what I'm really asking is can I use the same flashing once installed in the roof. Therefore, I could "easily" just pop out a GPL where a VSS is without any carpentry work? They would both be an S06 just one is GPL and the other is VSS. I currently have GGL's and it's simple to pull out the window.
rslab Ah! now I see. I don't think the swap would be easy. It may be possible to switch the sash components (I've never tried), changing the actual frame and such would be a pain. I have removed skylights, and it is troublesome. It can be done, but it's the home building equivalent of careful brain surgery.
Find the item get the typical price. add 40% markup 1300 you may be able to get a tax credit to offset the price. For labor figure 2-3 hours for setup, install and clean up. A roofer would do it for 600 to 1000 depending if its a curb mount or deck mount. $2300.00 is a decent price for one but please make sure you have a pro install it. DO NOT go with the cheapest guy of a friend of a friend
Good Morning Kev, Sorry you didn't like the video. My son shot my installation of these skylights and edited the footage. These skylights continue to work really well. Is there something I could have shown that would make the video more useful to you? Bye for now, Steve

would be sweet to have these some point. nice video.. Are these viable in an area it could snow in or only in areas where it doesn't?

Can you add solar to manually open skylights?

My roof doesn't allow for this type of skylight but I have been interested in their sun tunnel, would love to bring more light into my kitchen

squirrels eat through lead, aluminum, wood and more so the best solution for them isn't a good outcome for the squirrels
