When we first heard this, as kids, in the 70's, we sang "400 children & a crop in the field"!! 🤣
Life was much simpler back then, as were we!! 🤣🤣🤣
Kenny's first big country cross over hit.❤❤
One of the greatest story tellers ever! Kenny Rogers so good. Listen to Lady next time. Beautiful song. ✌️
The look on Andrei's face after the fade was priceless. Going to a bar, taking off her ring and saying, "I'm hungry for laughter, and here ever after, I'm after whatever the other life brings" pretty much sets her up as the villain. The man is suggested to be a hard working man who loves her and the one concerned about the children. In the end, her physical beauty was not enough for the storyteller. This song was Kenny's first hit after leaving The First Edition (I Just Stopped In To See What Condition My Condition Was In).
Two of Kenny Rogers' songs, "Coward Of The County" and "The Gambler" were made into movies and Kenny was in both movies.
He has so many amazing songs, Rueben James was one of my favorites, brilliant storyteller and songwriter, loving your reactions ❤️
Great great one from The Gambler. Ty MOA ☘️ 🇺🇲
This is one of our families favorite
songs. My Mom's name is Lucille and she was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. Needless to say it wasn't her favorite song.
🇬🇧 "Ruby" "Lady" & "The Gambler" are a must listen to by Kenny. "Lady" is my favourite. 🎼🎶
Love most of Kenny Rogers songs. He writes most of his own songs, and he is a terrific storyteller.
“Ruby, don’t take your love to town” is poignant and real as well. Try it sometime. Thanks for the video!
Older songs were short by today's standards, because it increased the chances of being played more often as it could fit in the musical Tetris, and longer songs were played by the DJ's when they needed a bathroom or a coffee break. Yes it is amazing that artist's could put so very much into 1.5 to 2.5 minutes. So much talent.
Thanks❤❤ to both of you for this reaction which I also requested from India! I first heard this when I was 17 (now I'm 62) and I felt soo furious to this character Lucille ! Seriously! And Kenny, what pain was in his voice as if he himself is the big man who suffered!
Kenny Rogers had a voice made for American Country. He started out as a pop rock band front man, The First Edition. He even turned his song The Gambler into a series of made for TV movies.
In the 80's when I worked in Lakeside, California outside of San Diego, California, I would go up the hill to "Barona Casino" and a couple of times I saw Kenny Rodgers, he was their promoter singing in Barona commercials. "Lucille" great reaction 👍 Peace✌️ and Love your 70 year old forever hippie Gary 😊
Many songwriters (Nashville, Austin) in this genre, but he had an ability to pick songs and perform them well - did a lot of RnR covers with a country flavor.
I remember my dad playing this record when I was little, he had a few drinks and was singing along and I was dancing around the room to it.
Now do "Ruby" by Kenny Rogers.
I remember listening to this song as a young child and it broke my heart even then ❤ wonderful reaction!!
As others have said, The Gambler should be next!
He was in rock and roll in the beginning, check out the song Just dropped in! A great song and you both will be very surprised!✌🏻❤️
Really like your reactions 👍👍
"Lady-LIVE" should be your next Kenny Rogers video you need to react to.
Andrei will show his emotions on 'Lady-LIVE" guaranteed!!!!!!!
You two are the sweetest couple. I LOVE your husbands hear. He is a real man. Tough, but Romantic with his amazing wife…….and your insights are great, especially since your primary language is not English. For most people who are not English speakers a lot gets lost in translation, but young lady you are amazing with your insight.
FYI: He has a great song the “Gambler” and it was made into a movie. Later it was a TV show, but it didn’t last long.
He became a fairly good actor too. He is a romantic.
Love you two very much. God bless
Awesome! Thank you for your kind words 💚
@@MerchantOfAlba I watch a lot of reactors and there are two I adore. You two and Rob Squad reactions. Your both married couples and very real.
Kenny Rogers - Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town
Lol..Andre catching flys...sooo funny.
😁
Now we all want to see Andrei react to "He Stopped Loving Her Today" by George Jones!
I don't like Country music however, I love Kenny Rogers!!! I am so blessed to actually be there to hear him on the radio sing his first song where I fell for him....love every song he done!
Good reaction, you understood exactly what happened and articulated your feelings accordingly. Thanks Team Alba.
Again, wonderful reaction, you two!👍👍👏👏🎉🎉 Love listening to your genuine sensitive comments and watching how you relate to each other and the music ❤
I hope you do the Gambler next from Kenny, and choose the video with him in it, its wonderful!
''So Long Country Bumpkin' is a great song by Cal Smith
Rest in peace
A sad story told with feeling by Kenny. Now I’m worried about the 4 hungry children, and I want to kick Lucille’s butt.
Great reaction.
The next song you could react to is Rueben James when he was with the group The Fifth Edition.
the gambler should b next. great reaction as usual! :)
Hey you guys should react to the song Lady, but be sure and react to the "live" version of the song. Kenny started his career with the First Edition, before he went solo.
Please check out "Ruby" soon.
I wasn't quite sure what you and Andrei were talking about, but he was saying "big like a mountain". mountain
The way people pronounce "mountain" in the U.S. often depends on what region they come from.
Have you guys reacted to Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love To Town? As far as I know, Kenny didn’t write most of his stuff, but he was an expert interpreter.
Love it! I am still waiting for one of my favorite reaction channels to discover Hank Williams III. Particularly the songs of Lovesick, Broke and Driftin' (Cecil Brown and Atlantic City). The Straight to Hell album also has plenty of amazing tunes as well (Crazed Country Rebel, Country Heroes, and Pills I Took)
Thank you. It's on our list 😊

Both of these songs are themed on World War 1
I use to think Kenny was singing "400 children," instead of "4 hungry children"...
I remember singing that as a girl. Big family! 😆😜 lol
@@proudmoon3 ~ I think I did too. And I remember thinking, "that's a lot of kids"...😄😂😂
Guy's... GERRY CINNAMON is a guy you will absolutely love! Scottish singer/ song writer! His song "Belter" and "Canter" are the best places to start! Trust me guys... you be so surprised! p.s stick the subs on because his accent is crazy hard to hear at first!
Thank you 😊
😮🤣
Check out Kenny singing Music Man. The song was written by him and is about Waylen Jennings.
Kenny Rogers has been some movies, a good family movie is "Six Pack"
3:50 "he looked like a mountain. Usually it is pronounced more like mouw-ton or mout-an with the 't' hardly heard. By the way, Kenny died in 2020.
I suggested this song he did "Buy Me a Rose" he tells a story how he screwed up a marriage and he worked to fix his mistakes he made 🌹
If you like story telling then you should react to two performances by Scottish Australian Eric Bogle. Both are ant-war songs - The Band Played Waltzing and No Man's Land (The Green Fields of France). They are not pleasant stories to listen to but they are poetic and very well performed. There are many versions on UA-cam but by far the best are those performed by Eric Bogle himself, who wrote both songs.
Thank you for the recommendation 😊
I found another Johnny Rivers song for you to react to: Seventh Son. I think you’ll love it.
Radio friendly length.
he does say mountain...not mound. .
Great song from 1977. Glad you are doing more of Kenny's music. He has a huge library of great songs. I am a big fan & had a lot of his records starting with his group The Fifth Edition to his solo stuff. One of the great story tellers!
I debated with myself for a while about whether or not to post this , but finally decided to do so ., because my own story is very similar to this .We had been married for 14 years and had 4 kids from 13 to 6 years old . I came home from work one night to a note on the table which didn't really explain anything and 4 kids asking me " Where's mommy ?" I had no idea that we were even having a problem , so this was like turning a corner and getting hit in the face with a baseball bat .The next night I got a call from the other guy's wife who let me know what was going on .My wife had run off with her husband . They had 6 kids .So the two of them had run off together leaving two spouses and 10 kids .I am thinking , Holy Shit , my life has turned into a sleazy soap opera .From her I learned that this was a regular thing for her husband . He would find some stupid slut and run off with her for a month or two and then when he got tired of her , he would go back to his wife , WHO WOULD TAKE HIM BACK .And that was exactly what happened in my case . He went back to his wife , who took him back again for the 5th or 6th time and then my wife called wanting to come back to me . I told her HELL NO , divorced her and got custody of the 4 kids and the house and did not have to pay any alimony .The experience changed my outlook on life .I had thought of myself as a husband and father first and then found out that I was just a dumb jerk who was being used as a meal ticket .
Thank you for sharing. These things shouldn't be happening...the wife of the other guy made me angry though. She's letting him do whatever. Why would he ever stop?! Sending you much love from both of us 💚
None of this foolin around with "LADY".........the live version is the best and watch the women swoon !
I would never leave my children...No matter what ! No marriage is a piece of cake..And I would have love to leave a many of times..But my child came first..but I understand some women are abused..I still would take my child and run in that case..
I'm with you on this one 👍
I don't...or didn't like country music, either, Dominika. It all depends on the song and especially HOW it is sung, the voice that GOES with the sound and the song itself!!! I'd say.....MODIFIED country music??
Well said 😊
Kenny has died, so can't write anything anymore.
