- I depart Wolverhampton (Halfpenny Green) and transit Liverpool's Class D Controlled Airspace back inbound to Blackpool. I'm also testing out the SkyEcho 2 from Transair, which I'm happy to say I really like and it worked extremely well during these flights!

I'm taking my PPL lessons from Halfpenny Green, I can't wait to start flying again. I think the Golf - Romeo Bravo was the plane I flew for my introduction flight.

Great video as always Ben, and good to see you back. Sadly the only time I can exercise PIC these days is in flight sims but hoprfully some RW right hand seat flying once the restrictions are fully lifted.

Been there and drive pass Wolverhampton Airport when travelling from Telford to Wombourne, near by. Always look up to see if there are planes.
I really enjoy visiting as there’s a great view from the cafe and the tower are always helpful and welcoming, pop in next time you drive by.

Really like this video . Both HG and Blackpool Airports have close affections for me . Blackpool was where I had my very first flight as a kid , and HG was my home airfield when I lived in the UK before relocating to Australia many years ago . Ace Videos. Im doing my PPL H from Barton atm. I noticed you didnt speak to Warton when you where approaching from the south. Was it closed? Last approach I did into there from Southport was very busy on the radio, speaking to Warton just before Blackpool.

Really enjoy your flights and procedures. How often do you typically do FREDA checks, and do you include lights/switches in these checks or? I'm struggling with finding a good flow check method or this Mnemonics alternative, any inputs about your procedures are much appreciated.
Videos will be back out to normal now! I usually do a FREDA check after departure and then at any significant periods, for example a zone transit. If not, aim to do them every 20 minutes minimum.
@@PlaneOldBen I will try to adapt this procedure. I think it is a great way to remember to scan the engine instruments, and thinking ahead in regards to COM settings etc. Do you include a check of switches (to catch if you forgot to turn of landing light etc.?) Thank you for your answers, and the excellent video inspiration :-)

Ben, currently thinking of doing my PPL. HOw much does it cost if you wanted to rent a 172 for a day?
Probs over £170, you're better off hiring a 152 If they have one

@@RedBoxFishing typically it’s anywhere from 150-220 per hour. This could be with fuel or without fuel and depending on the condition/capability of the aircraft
