    Great to see my old favourite home airfield Halfpenny Green in the limelight . I’ve been living overseas many years and don’t get back to HG very often , so many thanks Ben for the chance to see the airfield again ,although I’m now more homesick than ever . Cheers and stay safe .

    Another great video.
    I’m hoping to make it to Halfpenny green either Wednesday or Thursday for my QXC. The plan is Gloucester, Cardiff, Halfpennny Green and back to Gloucester.

      I considered that but I feel it’s nicer to show it off in the natural environment, this shows it’s use across three videos and how it helps.

    Great video Ben! Learned something new in this one, when you said "QSY" at 18:27 I had to Google that as hadn't heard that before. Is that different to saying "request frequency change" or similar?

      It’s an old ‘Q-Code’ which I don’t believe is taught anymore but it’s just very easier than saying request frequency change, albeit not standard!

      @@PlaneOldBen ever had a controller not be familiar with QSY? Agreed it's a bit less of a mouthful than "request frequency change". Wasn't covered in my Comms PPL syllabus but maybe still covered in an ATS course?

      All the controllers seem to know about it, it was used in PPL flying when I first started int the late 00’s and I’ve just carried on.

    Thanks for another great video Ben - are you aware there were an awful lot of ads on this one? Probably one every 5 mins - I believe YT have changed their default ad settings recently so if you hadn't agreed to this it might be worth double checking. I think @theflyingreporter had a similar issue recently.

    Ben, did you file a flight plan in order to get your zone crossings ? I read NATS want flight plans for crossings during COVID-19 due to reduced workforce.

      No it's not! I know a 47yo new Commercial Pilot, and he flies a passenger jet. It's never too late if you're determined and work hard.
