That paper towel trick blew my mind.
It's so simple but it works haha you can also take dry leafs and transfer that to the metal.
@@GomeowCreations A leaf pattern! That i would love to see.
I have that rolling mill, also. Love it!
Another informative well made video...
Bravo...
Thanks for sharing!
Thank youuu
😉👌👍noice video. Nailed it again. I would love to own a roller but still debating on durston or Pepe.
Get the Pepe is much less cost and just as good quality
And you can save $30 with code "meow" 😅👍
Very cool!! Would love to see how to use texture plates without a roller mill 😊
Oh, you want me to do some hard work haha 😂
@@GomeowCreations lol those textures are gorgeous!! It would be super hard without the mill though huh...
I have never done it but have seen people use a press and hammers to do it.
@@JayDub_143 Roberta Phil w/Oregon Trails Silver made a video on how she transfers designs without a rolling mill from texture plates. Perhaps it will help you out..... ua-cam.com/video/EQ5_gugd8Q4/v-deo.html
@@tywhitmire860 Thank you so much! I was wondering the same thing as I currently can't afford a rolling mill.. that looks to be very doable. 👍👍😊
I have some of her texture plates and they are the most beautiful works. I don't have a mill so I use a big wad of fun cool and hammer the crap out of it. But you need to take the piece down so it doesn't move. Have fun. Are you a member of the misfits group on Facebook?
I'm not a member and I can't seem to find that group at all when I search for it... I can Google it but non of the links work for me 😅
@@GomeowCreations use the Facebook search and enter metal art misfits were a fun group. And you'll love Roberta!
@@GomeowCreations Shared to Metal Art Misfits, and Inspiring Metalsmiths Jewelry, Roberta closed member requests as she wants to stay small, but will contact her to see if she will let you in Randy. You probably can find us in Inspiring Metalsmiths Jewelry as we take member requests and are getting bigger all the time!
if you want a muted pattern the use of the idea of rolling onto hardened metal..just a thought
Do love the paper towel texture. BTW did you receive the stones I sent?
Yes I did, thank you very much. It all looks awesome. I need to think of what to do with them 😊
Awsome video👍 where can I purchase such detailed plates like those.. and have my own design engraved .. thank you and ,ugh success
If you are looking for custom textures your can always use a laser like I did in this video. ua-cam.com/video/HaPVAtwQRdA/v-deo.html If you don't want to get a laser I could always make you some custom paper textures for a fee 😁👍
where can i purchase the dials on top?
I'm looking to purchase one of these mills and was wondering what size yours is for a visual reference
I have the 130mm combo mill. I like the size of it and it gets the job done. If you do want to get one and save a little money just make sure to use my link in the description and at checkout use code meow. It will save you $30 and it will also help support the channel 😁👍
I bought a Pepe mini rolling mill and cannot get it to take a printed pattern at all. I have thoroughly annealed them too. Is this small mill not suitable for prints? Very disappointing.
What do you mean by a printed pattern?
@@GomeowCreations i mean it will not transfer the texture on to the metal. I tried buying the laser printed patterns from Rolling Mill Resources but the patterns did not transfer to my silver. I have used other larger mills in classes and never had any problems but this mill just doesn’t do it. Tried using various other textured item with no results. .
You much be doing something wrong. Seeing that I haven't had any problems using texture plates and laser cut paper.
Are you just not tightening I'd down enough? Normally I will put the material in with the pattern and smug them up on the roller and then take them out and then tighten it up just a little more.
What is that paper used for? Is it a tissue paper?
Some people like to use paper to protect the rollers. It isn't always needed
Randy I have a question are you ruining your rolling mill by running those plates without protection. Steel on steel? Every video I’ve seen uses some kind of card stock or something to protect the rollers.
I used the “MEOW” to order tools from PEPE Tools, wanted to say thanks for teaching me how to use my new 130mm rolling mill!
I would advise to use softer metals to sandwich the steel texture plates. If you accidentally roll bare steel into the plates when it’s too tight it’ll damage the rollers.
Yeah that is a good point. The rollers are a hardened steel and the texture plates are a cold rolled steel. You are not going to hurt your rollers doing this as long as you are clamping down on the soft metal like brass, copper, silver or gold with the pattern on the soft metal. It would start to damage things if you just put the texture plate in on its own and tightened it down and tried rolling it through. But don't know why you would do that haha.
I'm interested in purchasing a Pepe Rolling Mill; however, I am not sure if I need the wire channels or not. I am interested in texturing wire (not interested in making wire). You mention texturing in this video but didn't show it. Did you put the wire in a wire channel with the texture plate? I'm trying to decide if I want more real estate by not getting the channels. Any other benefits to getting the wire channels?
I have never used a texture plate on the wire just on sheet metals. I really like having both options to make my own sheet and wire all in one mill. So if you can't get 2 mills this is you best option.
I am kind of frustrated, when I do it the way you say to do it, the handle on the roller machine is extremely hard to turn. And if I make it that it’s loose the pattern doesn’t go on the metal at all or just a little bit. I tried what you said to turn it on little past the zero when I have it set but then I can barely turn the handle. Did my husband and put that handle on a little bit too tight? I was so excited to get this rolling machine, and now I’m kind of disappointed
It sound alike you are just making it too tight or too loose also did you soften the metal?
I’m having the same problem with it and I’ve tried every way possible! I’ve used a durstan mill in class and so I know how to do it but this small Pepe I cannot get to work for textures at all. I’m so disappointed with it.
I guess you can use fabrics too.
You can and it does some make some cool looking metals, I will do a video on that soon 😁👍
