Met him at my airport job. Stopped to tell him how much I'd loved him on Broadway in Skylight. He thanked me really enthusiastically saying, "Thank you so much! No one ever mentions the plays!" Chatted with me for a few minutes and seemed really sincere and down-to-earth. A brilliant actor but, also, a really lovely gentleman.
Bill Nighy is such a legend and the epitome of coolness, kindness, wisdom and professionalism! I absolutely adore him and watch anything and everything he is in!
He’s cool because he doesn’t even register that he is. He is the one person that utterly underrates himself. One of my absolute favourite actors and he seems like a genuinely awesome human being that I would love to have a cup of tea and chat with.
It's so true. I'm 74 years old or young or whatever and my whole life I was undermining myself. Whatever lousy, critical thing I told myself was a lie. Actually, it was my mother's voice. I'll get my leather trousers. I love Bill Nighy.❤
His advice on imposter syndrome and anxiety is spot on. I always remind myself of all the times I panicked that XYZ was going to happen, and catastrophised this and that.. and how many times it actually happened... it's zero. Zero times.
0:53 Thank you, thank you, thank you for that advice. I will take it as a challenge and try to consider all negative thoughts about myself a lie. Literally made my jaw drop when I heard that.
For decades (mid '70s to late '90s) I ONLY wore Levi's 501s, no other pants. Weddings, funerals the works. I had 3 pairs at all times, Best, casual and knocking around. When the best pair faded too much I bought another new pair and they all got demoted. Actually I guess you could say 4 pairs as I usually cut the legs off the oldest pair for (rarely worn) shorts / swimming. Then they started putting 'elastine' in them (5% last time I looked) and now they are no longer cool. I haven't worn any since my last 100% cotton pair fell apart. I was going to say "your loss Levis" but it's my loss too. I miss them but at my age I'm not going to wear stretchy jeans any more than I was going to when Levis ruined them. Bill, you're one cool dude.
He came up to me at a theatre event once and started chatting, seems such a nice guy. The beard suits him too. I’ve never heard a bad word said about him.
Greetings, Bill. Huge fan here! I've donned my leather pants - what time can I expect you to drop 'round my house? haaa. Happy Holiday wishes from Canada.
Instead of organizing, let things 'live' where you actually use them because it makes it easy to put it away. In a few cases, having more of something makes it easier. I have a pair of scissors and pen & paper for every room because when I only had them at my desk, they wandered off. Do what makes sense for you and your lifestyle 😊
Excellent Boomer Advice Aunt! You should do more! The thing the youngers don't understand is the understated, real, sarcastic, useful way we think! We are far more complex because we came up pre internet and then, when internet arrived (bulletin boards then dialup) we are the original internet generation! Two useful.ways of thinking and seeing things!
Your refusal to BS is exactly why you're helpful! I love you! In my mind Slartibartfast IS your portrayal of him and the "Hang the sense of it..." comment is something that I live by. Who cares, keep busy, better to be happy in life than right in an argument. 😌
However, I do take issue on the blue suit. Grey. A nice grey suit and white shirt is really quite lovely. Or maybe it's just my husband who looks lovely in it. I do like him very much in his grey suit.
Love Bill so much, ever since I saw him in Pirates when I was young I’ve been watching all of his other films and he’s simply brilliant. Also loved his appearance in Florence + the Machine’s music video!!!
Love what he said about reputations, SO true. I’ve seen people carefully construct very agreeable personas just for the sake of being well-liked, and it was only frequent interaction with them that allowed me to see behind the persona and spot something less perfect. This applies very much for those who post on social media, but also just for people in general in life. Also, he’s 100% right about social media - trust that the real world, most of it, is barely affected by or even present on social media. Very few things on social media have real world significance. It’s just a timesuck otherwise.
Advice for young: you are making mistakes now and you will make them in the future. Not important. Important is to learn of them. Learning is the sense of life. Cruel but useful.
Geeze no leather pants, well not leather perhaps but vegan, embrace the fake leather...am thinking of the lounge lizard Jim Morrison...wow leather ..but yes nowadays vegan...
I watch anything with Mr. Nighy in it. Anything. And it is always worth it.

Skylight was terrific!!

Love his advice about switching off all social media & opening the front door!
anyone over the age of 45 will tell you that.
Bill Nighy is an international treasure.

What a lovely, down to earth and honest chap he is! Thank you, Bill. 😊
Of *some* use? This is some of the best advice I've ever heard in my life.
I have had a crush on him since I first saw him. What an amazing person. Lovely person. Lovely human being.
Same
You’re not alone.
My most favorite person on the planet 🩵 thank you British Vogue!
Kim Hill interviewed him. She was so in awe. Never heard her fall over herself doing an interview before.
We all, mostly all of us, love him in NZ.
Absolutely one of the best actors of all time
“Get with it, get hip”….. the best advice 😂❤
Is there anybody more FABULOUS, more hysterical, more gentile, more iconic than Bill?!? We need a show with Bill doing just this 🎉
His advice on imposter syndrome and anxiety is spot on. I always remind myself of all the times I panicked that XYZ was going to happen, and catastrophised this and that.. and how many times it actually happened... it's zero. Zero times.
I really liked the radio being the vehicle for the interview questions. Well done.
I could listen to Bill whole day!
Bill Nighy always has the best advice!🌟Love his perspective on life! 🇬🇧

Bill, you're one cool dude.
God I saw him once in the cafeteria in Tate Britain. He is so effortlessly cool.

He is so suave, effortlessly cool.
Can we have some more of this?
The key take away from this is to wear leather trousers so you get Bill Nighy to come round your house
Lol 😂😂😂
That was my main takeaway too
would and will.
I adore this gentleman.
Cool.
Elegant.
Humble.
Kind.
Wise.
Perfect.
Man this advice was timely for me. Huge thanks to all involved.
I wish the Charles Paris Mysteries on radio were filmed with Bill! I absolutely love them
Bill is fab. My take - What advice would you give - “Don’t take anyone’s advice - you will work it out - like we all did”
Greetings, Bill. Huge fan here! I've donned my leather pants - what time can I expect you to drop 'round my house? haaa. Happy Holiday wishes from Canada.
😂
The best tip for staying tidy is indeed to just not own very much

I would fly to London (from Texas) just to hang out with this guy. Forget any sightseeing...unless it's something Bill thinks I should see.

Bill Nighy .Ive been mad about him since forever.Bill for head of something.
Your refusal to BS is exactly why you're helpful! I love you!
In my mind Slartibartfast IS your portrayal of him and the "Hang the sense of it..." comment is something that I live by. Who cares, keep busy, better to be happy in life than right in an argument. 😌
"I'll see you when I get my glasses."
Perfect.
However, I do take issue on the blue suit. Grey. A nice grey suit and white shirt is really quite lovely.

Love Bill Nighy
Dear Mr Nighy, I've been a fan ever since 1981 when I heard you as Samwise Gamgee in the BBC Radio 4 dramatization of Lord Of The Rings.
Excellent advice from a handsome man, yes please.
Don't worry about fashion.....love it ❤
Effortlessly, magically cool. Innate.

Keep it Loose Bill!
"Don't ever wear leather pants..." Best advice in this post! No one looks good in leather pants.
Elvis looked good in leather trousers in his 68 Special ❤️
Geeze no leather pants, well not leather perhaps but vegan, embrace the fake leather...am thinking of the lounge lizard Jim Morrison...wow leather ..but yes nowadays vegan...

Ah, we all looked better 40 years ago! Have a lovely holiday.
Reminding me what uncle Billy said on TV in “Love Actually” 🥹
Don’t do drugs… 🤣
Become a popstar
Bill Nighy has 'moderate' OCD? 🤔 at 3:20 ? Nothing wrong with having things aligned the way you want ... just an observation. Love Bill's work.
