Such a great film, I can't wait to see it again. One thing this film does that is miraculous is make it compelling both to hardcore Dylanologists such as myself, who understand and appreciate all the attention to detail you discuss, such as the studio equipment, Greenwich Village signs, clothing, etc., and to newbies, such as my kids, who know some of the tunes I've been playing around the house for years but don't know all the legendary Dylan lore. My kids and I love the film equally. Bravo to all involved.
There’s so much heart in this film. Heart from the producers, crew, and actors! Doesn’t need to be filmed on VistaVision or be exceedingly long to be great. This was the film of the year!
I'm not sure the makers or casually interested people realize how much an impact Dylan had on some of us. It was life-changing. They did good making it, though. Thanks to them.
I can't remember when I've enjoyed a movie as much as this. It transported me to another world and I constantly forgot I was watching a movie and sometimes forgot I was in a theatre! I saw it twice in opening week to help the numbers. Everyone who helped create this should be proud beyond measure! Congratulations! I can't wait until I can buy a copy of this and watch it whenever I want. P.S. If Timothy doesn't want to give up all that he's learned - then please go on tour and play a Dylan cover show in some smaller venues. I'd buy a ticket no matter what it cost!
Watching this, I have a significant experience inside of me that this director and the actors are taking us through a fabulous time machine ride during the greatest era of music in our lives. It's a six-star experience of one of the best times of change, and movement in time.
I was never a Pete Seeger fan, but from the first scene I know this interpretation of Seeger was perfect because it's just like I had imagined him from Barbara Dane records on which I heard him sing and talk.
Amazing to learn about how this film making happens behind the scenes. So highly professional! Such depth of focus! The sets, the clothes, the microphones. It was a great, moving film with great performances.
Dylans songs came from him learning thousands of songs, reading lots of books and then coming up with similar songs from his point of view. Many of his songs have been studied and people have figured out the musical and lyrical references to older songs.
I loved this movie. I love Timmy. But I have to be honest. After the second time through, I realized that Bob's voice is significantly more soothing than Timmy's. He got the sound of it pretty decently, but it felt a bit grating after a while, so I went to listen to old Bob live shows and his voice is cleaner and softer, even with that signature mid range tone. I think this was the best way to film the movie and I wouldn't have liked it with lip syncing, but I also think Bob's actual voice wouldn't have ever made me say "what is everyone in this movie hearing that I'm not," because it is actually really good.
Ok so dissect the voice it’s not suppose to be exactly like Dylan it’s the essence of it’s the inflictions it’s a performance it’s not a mimic it’s not cloning! My god it’s a movie it’s en telling a story wtf?
As much as I love Dylan and his music (and the film), there's also a sad, hard truth to acknowledge. Namely, that part of the reason his lyrics resonate even six decades later is that the country has regressed so significantly, socially and politically. I'm not sure anyone at that time quite anticipated the the depth and breadth of conservative backlash to the 'times a-changin'' so much.
Read about the plot twists in the writing, recording, and reception of Like a Rolling Stone, what it did for the trajectory of his career, what it did for rock 'n roll and folk, what it did for songwriters, and you've got a sequel.
"He's not only singing the music he's playing the guitar, he's playing the harmonica"....I'm betting Timothy could probably play harmonica better than Bob.
True. In order to get everything into the movie time frame they had to combine some of the different events into one. It still makes for a good scene. I've seen this movie twice and loved it both times. Hope it wins an Oscar. ❤😊
Not good. I don't understand what people are seeing in this movie. I'm 67, I grew up in this era. Absolutely LOVE Dylan. Four people walked out of the theater I was in 3/4 of way through. Had to fight to stay awake, extremely boring. 100% media hype.
Well I’m 73 and actually did grow up in this era. And this film was nothing short of brilliant. You are of course entitled to your opinion, but you are in the minority. It’s sad you found it boring, and yet call yourself a Bob Dylan fan. Bob worked on the script extensively. It was good enough for him. Pity it didn’t meet your high standards.😊
@@larushka1 "Bob worked on the script extensively." Yes, that is why there are no clunky A + B = C explanations . Dylan was/is an enigmna, even to Bob himself.
Blown away by how great this film is. Deserves all the accolades it’s up for. “Who wrote this?” “He did.”
Yup. He did indeed!

Seen it already three times. Each time it got better. I got the most out of it the third time.

I’d say so.
Agree u left feeling good I did anyway
This is so well put together... so much detail, thank you for this!

Except let's not forget Bob is still alive and well and still performing! He might not want someone impersonating him in concert!

Outstanding movie! The cast was exemplary and the performances magnificent. I’ve seen the movie three times. And I want to see it more!

This movie keeps wanting me to see it over and over….like the Elvis movie! Excellent.
I liked this much more than Elvis. Elvis was to much Flash not enough substance imo
Must say when that scene where they play Subterranean Home Sick Blues on the Theatre Sound-system was incredible….thing was hot and groovin
It was a great movie I started listening to Bob now
Loved it! ❤

Ok…. & what Dylan shouldn’t be revered

great movie
Splish splash skert skert … the statistics the statistics!!
Make a Basement Tapes sequel!
he should make a film about Woody....
Bound for Glory has been made into a movie (haven't seen it so don't know if it is any good though)
He said play it f-ing loud, no play it loud…
1:30 James Mangold pronouncing “folk “ with OL sound instead of fow -k the L is silent
QUÉ ESPERAN PARA ENTREGARLE SU OSCAR A TIMMY???? 🙏✨️
first❤
Looks nothing like b Dylan
Which is good. Timothée is better looking and made the songs sound better.
"He's not only singing the music he's playing the guitar, he's playing the harmonica"....I'm betting Timothy could probably play harmonica better than Bob.
Don't get crazy the man's had fifty years of doing it
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves now
Judas yelling wasn't in newport. Was in England.
well guess they decided to put it in the movie,

They weren’t making a documentary! And Bobby D personally approved the script and made additions and changes.
@@larushka1 that's true. Anyway I'm going to see this movie 20000 times.
I've seen better. WHy not show him in Minnesotta? Why just start right when he arrives in NYC? Pretty lame storytelling.
Because showing him in Minnesoota would be fiction.
