Challenge idea: I'd be really cool if you could make an underwater/ under island base. Small house on top, giant lair underneath. Like a big glass base that you can see into the ocean.
What about a netherite beacon

To save coal, you could try using dried kelp blocks in the furnace
my favorite renewable fuel in the game.
Tried it, enjoyed it, but took up too much time crafting stacks of the stuff and pre-smelting all the kelp ready for crafting. Lava buckets all the way (or blaze rods from my xp farm.) but lava buckets are literally the best for my setup
I often end up making a kelp farm in these island worlds. Not only is it a decent fuel source, but a food source as well.

Shield is definitely something needed in hardcore early on
If you find enough string off the spiders you may be able to make wool for a bed. Just a thought.
And a fishing rod too! Solves the food problem by a lot. In the video you can see him picking up some strings but later when he came to the surface with full inventory, I realized he threw them away. Strings are very valuable in a playthrough like this where the resources are so limited.
Great idea, and definitely important to keep everything on an island setup I keep everything and I only play vanilla 😆 you never know what could help on this game 😊
Your personality makes your videos 10x better than what they already already. Also your wasting logs when using the furnace, turning them into planks gets you more burn time in the furnace, saving scarce resources.
He should just turn them into charcoal
Yep, I cringed with each full log. I break mine all the way down to slabs if using for fuel.

Instead of using the logs themselves to burn other logs for charcoal, make the logs for fuel into planks. One log will smelt the same amount as one block of planks. 1.5 items each.

I'm playing the survival island template they offer you and I found 2 spawners 3 ravines and 2 mineshafts within 500 blocks
A plank burns for the same amount of time as a log, so you're wasting logs by not turning them into planks first. Eventually, though, I definitely recommend using Dried Kelp Blocks as fuel.
He can use planks or even better slabs
Auto-smelting kelp farm is a must.
Challenge for the next episode: use planks as fuel instead of logs :D
I guess I'm not the only one cringing at the sight of full logs burning needlessly. And better yet, use the charcoal for a slight edge over planks.
Even better: 2 sticks to get 1 charcoal, then 1 charcoal to get 8 more.

8_Make moooooooore torches
9_Build the ULTIMATE STORRAGE SYSTEM
10_Open the Portal
Challenge idea: you have to eat food from the ocean for the rest of the series, meaning you can only eat kelp, cod, salmon, etc.
Bonus: all of your build has to be fish themed.
I KNEW this island looked familiar! I played this seed several weeks ago. Now, it might be a bedrock issue, but my nether portals would never connect. Whenever I’d come back from the nether, I’d always spawn underground. And breaking the portal, would just make another someplace else. Still, it was a fun challenge and can’t wait to see how you did.

Hey Wattles, my man. I feel your struggle with coal and torches! Why not build yourself a lava farm with dripstone and a cauldron for lava buckets in your furnace? Might be a little iron expensive at first but will save you on wood in the long run :) Happy Survival!

Challenge: fully enchant your armor. Alternatively, be efficient with your logs. Turn a log into 4 planks. Use 4 planks to smelt 6 charcoal. Then use a charcoal to smelt 8 logs into 8 charcoal going forward.
Great video as always. Also I think you missed a diamond at 13:28. Challenge: find that diamond or make an animal farm, seems fairly difficult without much grass
I think the best weapon for an island boy is a trident. Make a drown farm and start trying for that trident drop.
Obviously the underwater base idea! That way you never run out of space to expand. And it'd be something new.
I'd almost prefer a conduit to all glass. Maybe half and half?

Challenge: Build a house without using Spruce Trapdoors or Mangrove wood.
You could make dry kelp bricks to cook and smelt. Leaving coal for torches in the caves.

My challenge is hunt enough spiders so you can craft the string into wool for a bed. You already have a few string I think, so the challenge is underway.
The number of hardcore worlds that have been lost to the words "just one more cave..."

You should use dried kelp blocks as fuel for the furnace. It is very effective
Maybe try out "One Block Skyblock"? You can find it on planet minecraft somewhere i forgot
Challenge idea:
Build an underwater domes/modules for each section of the base, interconnected by tunnels
extra: one of the domes is a ocean research centre with aquariums... maybe multiple aquariums for different species of fish.
Wattles, for better fuel efficiency, use 2 wood planks to burn 3 wood logs.
Also, since you have a crafting table in your mining, you could craft the ores into ore blocks so you can get more stuff.
Challenge: Find a zombie villager.
Wattles really is the OP Minecrafter. As the years pass by I realize Wattles is hands down top 3 Minecraft entertainer player in the world.
Challenge idea: explore the caves until you find a spawner and build your First mob farm. If it’s a (cave) Spider spawner, the goal would be to collect enough string and craft wool and at last a red bed 😄
Challenge for next video is to make a mob farm in hopes, of course, of getting zombie villagers. Helping you enchant your armor and expand the amount of goodies you’ll need to survive throughout the series.
Challenge idea: You should drain on Ocean monument and make it your home also get a fully maxed out Trident and finally a conduit
Challenge: 3 Little Pigs Urban Planning.
Create the plots on your island for basic design of different shack-like structures, 3 little pigs style; straw house, stick house, brick house.
Challenge: no diamond gear until you make an enchantment table and get any fortune on you pick.

Farm Kelp man... use it to burn items or charcoal. Epic challenges. Just Thought....Sugar cane... books??? enchanted table??? also collect string for bed.
You can use Redstone torches to light up caves you know. Mobs only spawn at light level zero

Challenge idea: create a building using between 2 or 3 of your least favorite blocks
Challenge: Build a shipwreck base that is repurposed for living like a castaway. The anchor line could be a way down into your caves.

Challenge Idea:
Spend days 90-100 of your island Survival with a Turtle on a lead. You brake the lead, you can no longer move. This would greatly limit your mobility

aaahh I enjoyed this ep so much, I'd be so scared in those caves with all those mobs knowing I'm one creeper away from dying and losing everything, don't know how you do it! it'd be cool to get fully enchanted gear next episode as a challenge, but a good old food farm might even be a better idea haha
New challenge: go adventuring to find a village! You can find crops there and maybe bring back some new saplings or chicken eggs with you.

Someone has probably already come into this, but you don't need to use logs to fuel the furnace to make charcoal. You can use planks which gives you more fuel for the amount of wood. ;)

Challenge: build a base that is hidden underwater in the kelp with an area on the surface for the turtles (Sorta like a pirate ship area). Or feature the current bottom comment.

You can make more charcoal by replacing the logs with planks in the bottom slot of the furnace
you are on an Island surrounded by KELP.
Kelp can be used as a fuel in ovens..Blaze rods work too if you get that far
Kelp - abundant , easy to collect and farm, totally a renewable & therefore unlimited fuel source.
