I can't believe he actually died in a housefire after making a video about messing with fan heaters. The news report said that the fire was started by an electric blanket though. Thank you for your great videos. RIP

You make something that seems so complicated seem so simple. Great to know how to save money not replacing a heater for something like this!

For my use case which is usually heating a room, I wouldn't bother with a low and high switch. If you aren't tripping the circuit breaker, running the heater on high is more efficient than low because it heats the room up faster and put less overall stress on the heater over the long run with the thermostat is used in a generally sized bedroom. I you're heating a master bedroom or a living room, you should look into 240 volt heaters at that point. Running a heater on low is useful if you are tripping a circuit breaker or you have the heater blowing on you like on a desk. Having a separate switch that controls one of the heating elements is useful if you could only find 10 amp switches since there would only be around 7 amps passing through a switch. With all the power going through one switch, you would need a 15 amp switch for sure. I'd check the power draw on each setting before doing that just to be safe since each heating element might not be pulling the same amount of current.

Great fix and vid. But I wonder. The thermostat bi-metal contact 'switches', are the contacts clean...? The arc over time you see. If not, the thermo metal 'switch' leg(s) is / are out a shape / 'tired'! It asks for lot of try and error patience, but they can be bent in shape so it works again as intended. And if not, get yourself another thermostat asap pls. Till then stay with it and awake while using this heater 🤞

My cadet electric wall heater was working just fine. All out of the blue it just started blowing cold air. The fan blows. Tested thermostat and works. Kicks in when i set it at warmer temp but just blows cold. I hit reset button, didn’t work, i reset the circuit breaker, no change. Is there a way to fix it or do i have to go buy a new one?

I have a similar heater but mine starts off by blowing hot air then after a minute or two it starts blowing cool air, what could be the issue?
    Thanks in advance.

So in my case it was a faulty thermostat, I had to leave the dial at a certain position for it to work.

I should not need to take my heater apart in order to find out why it is blowing cold air. The unit is brand new and should be working. I have only had it for 3 days!
