    I’ve been voyaging in NMS since the Bad Old Days, but whenever I stop for awhile, I forget everything I’ve learned. This is very helpful. Thanks.

      Same here. I had 3 different saved files and the last one was from 2022. I keep doing this over and over no matter the game. Medieval Dinasty, NMS, Gas Station Sim, Journey to the savage planet, Guardians of the galaxy, you name it. 🤷‍♂️

    Dear Jason ❤
    I wanted to express my deep gratitude to you. Thank you for creating these videos, and thank you for the incredible way in which you present them. As a newcomer to No Man's Sky who isn't very proficient in English, playing this game would be almost impossible for me without your guidance. Reading in-game content is challenging for me, and since the entire storyline in No Man's Sky revolves around text on the screen, it becomes a significant barrier. Even when I do manage to read, understanding the content is difficult due to my unfamiliarity with games of this nature.
    What sets you apart is the consistent effort you put into explaining everything, even if it's something you've covered multiple times in your previous videos. Your dedication to providing comprehensive explanations is commendable. Moreover, your willingness to read and interpret everything that the in-game characters say adds a layer of immersion that is crucial for players like me who rely on auditory cues to enjoy the storyline. No Man's Sky lacks voiceovers for characters, and without your insightful commentary and storytelling, I doubt I would find the motivation to continue playing.
    I want to emphasize once again how grateful I am. I began playing the game about two months ago and initially stumbled upon your No Man's Sky Beginners Guide for 2023. Now, with the release of your new and updated guide for 2024, I am thrilled and thankful that you continue to support and guide players like myself.
    Thank you so, so much! 💖

    I might have made that 1st base by the holographic tower you saw, those come with a landing pad, which is very helpful in the early game, as taking off from a landing pad does not consume launcher fuel. It also comes with a good bit of flat land for building on. That is my tip for new players placing their 1st base.

    I have only just discovered NMS. Downloaded on my PS5, I have played for about 5-6 hours and I am thoroughly enjoying it; even the stupid mistakes.
    The most laughable one was running out of fuel between planets and having to search UA-cam before realizing I can mine asteroids ! 😳😂🥴
    Currently attempting to build my first base. Its a steep learning curve but immensely satisfying when I solve a dilemma.

    At about 30:00 Jason said there's a bug where terrain will restore after several days... anyone know if this bug has been fixed, or if they plan to fix it? I'm hoping to find a nice planet to build a Hobbit hole in as a home... It'd suck to have that all filled back in later!

    One of the most useful tips I learned is to use uranium instead of crafting launch fuel. Just mine a couple uranium deposits and you'll be good on fuel for a long time 👍

      @guero6103 it may not be the same now. It may only work on some ships. If I recall correctly, there should be an sort of x,y coordinate displayed somewhere in the cockpit. Useful for keeping track of where you've been.

    i started this game on switch yesterday, i played the original launch version which i did enjoy. figured i would try it now that its more robust. i was trying to find the terrain manipulator but no one ever explained it would be received as part of main story. when i finally got to the beacon which i know now would give me the blueprint, the game crashed while approaching it and i went to bed, didnt even know i was that close to getting it

    Lately, I have been farming resources. I use the restore mode on the terrain manipulator on ore deposits like the copper one. It literally restores the copper! I can just mine away at the copper and then restore it, and mine again.

    • @nathaliecarluccio7559
      @nathaliecarluccio7559 2 місяці тому

      I tested it, I refilled an old one with normal terrain but no ore was added ! I think when you mine copper and have it in your inventory you just put it back there with the restoration. If I have no material in my inventory, I can't restore at all 😊

    Thanks! I'm new to the game and just starting my tutorial base and you answered a lot of my questions. The only issue is that I need to figure out the PC keybinds since you only give the console keybinds. I had no idea about the different sizes for the mining beams, how to flatten terrain, how to move my base computer, how to remove walls, etc. The in-game tutorial is a bit lacking to say the least.

    A NMS game save can have max 400 base computers. There are 256 galaxies, each with more systems and planets/moons than you will be able to visit in a lifetime. A base have a radius of 300 u, where can drag an electric wire. Can in a way expand a base by placing something like a battery or generator at the border, for then place down next device within 300 u (horizontal) of that. Often usable for putting down auto mining and/or some special power generating devices (as heat and resonance). That way do not need to "waste" a base computer.

    My Best Tip to avoid the ground growing back bug, Always BUILD your base above elevate it so the ground cannot touch it.

      It actually looks better if you have some sort of foundation as well

  • @niwty
    @niwty 8 місяців тому

    Jason one major tip re initial base building and avoiding terrain etc growing back into you base is to raise it off the floor.
    Place your refiner down and place your first floor panel on top of it. Then pick the refiner back up and lay the rest of your base. You can always add steps for access and arches below the floor to simulate supports at a later date.

    • @larrylindgren9484
      @larrylindgren9484 8 місяців тому +2

      Never build my base on the ground. Any little bump will come back. I'll build a wall piece then put a piece of flooring as a roof. Delete the wall piece. Now you flooring is off the ground. Build away never having to worry about coming back and having your base filled in with dirt and rocks.

    • @niwty
      @niwty 8 місяців тому +1

      @@larrylindgren9484that is what I said!🤷🏼‍♂️
      If you place your refiner down and place a floor panel on top of that rather than a wall then its usually high enough off the ground to avoid terrain and plants regrowing but not so high that you’d need to place two walls or arches below it to simulate supports when building in undulating terrain.
      Any ramp or stairs you build from it will just continue below surface level automatically making a seamless join with the terrain again.👍
      If you wanted to you can even dig down and build a room full of solar panels and batteries as a power source (Yes, they work perfectly underground too😳) and just restore the terrain again and build up off of your half submerged building.
      Useful if you don’t have an electromagnetic power source and it saves cluttering up your base with Solar Panels etc.

    I just can't. I don't get it, I don't get what people like about this game... Every couple years I hear so many people say "its so good now guys", so every couple years I install it thinking I must be crazy, and then I remember how much I hate the UI and the crafting, how tedious and stupid every early quest is. The main challenge or boss in the first 2 hours is figuring out the awful UI and what order to click on what Mcguffin button and find a mcguffin thing burred in the 3rd hierarchy of a mcguffin item 16... and ya the late game sounds cool, it's why I keep trying. The ships and space fleets and all that stuff sounds really cool, but they lock it behind a awful, tedious UI a ?2+ hours tedious intro that I can't f'ing stand. All I can think is that if the entire game is fetching crap a with different colored pixels and a slightly upgrade mcguffin device B just to find the spot in the awful UI where it can be clicked and then likely clicked again or dragged to the only place it could possibly be useful because "game play" I guess. Every two years I try and then remember what I think of the idiotic nonsensicle crafting.... need a metal sheet, no problemo, I'll just turd one out my suit pocket, heck here is 15 metal sheets, need something refined, oh sorry we need to build a refiner thing, which we will destroy right away, we have to put fuel in it, raw materials, and then stand there for a bit - all for game play and buttons, I pushed like 7. Winnning... people willing to put up with this crafting and this games UI would also probably farmville over eldenring I have to think. 8 years and the intro or new player experience is still, from what I can understand; based on hear say is nothing like the "actual fun game", they have just not bothered to unlock the good part of the game from being behind a shit mountain, a useless tutorial that isn't helpful at all.... no one alive still wants to climb the shit mountain, those willing to climb it already have and the rest of us never will, no part of the first couple hours makes me think I could possibly enjoy another 20 hours let alone 10,000+ regardless of how many farmville lovers say the next 10,000 hours will be like. I beg future me to recall and not bother with this shiny turd ever again. The next person that tells me this is a good game I will immediately assume they think phone games are fun and ignore every opinion they ever have about anything else, ever again. I hope.
