Halo was always a big deal for Xbox and when the Xbox Avatars were introduced there was a ton of Halo outfits and other items for your Xbox Avatar. Now the first game that had any of these items were Halo 3 but with the release of Halo 3 ODST and Halo Reach they really stepped things up.

They did completely overhaul live avatars a couple years back, but it seems like interest had dwindled with time
@@MisterJohnDoe I never knew about these new avatars, but they look off. Nobody has to create something new for everything, and Nintendo has been using the same style off avatar Miis since the Wii
Man, I miss the avatar system, especially with the fact that some items had to be earned instead of purchased. It really helped me feel invested in my account, feel like I was "building" something instead of just using my 360 to play games and leave. It's the closest thing I've felt to that sense of a "metaverse", with your purchases and achievements carrying over between completely unconnected games, and I wonder if we're ever gonna get another system like that somewhere in the future of gaming.

God, I remember these... I miss playing Castle Miner Z with my avatar decked out in the Nanosuit or that Ultra armor.

@@godofworts6366 Bro, my world's spawn was covered in Space Rock, I had Bloodstone and Laser weapons and Rocket Launchers out the ass, my home was built into the side of a mountain and had enough gear in it hidden in the walls that I could wage a one man war on the whole world, I spent so much time on that world and did everything from digging to Hell, walking TO Hell, and then going even farther.

Spartan exterminator shirt for the avatars is cool and all, but getting one from the halo themed loot crate was even cooler. Still have it and it looks amazing

Since the online is shutting down in Dec & a lot of the gear is unlocked through waypoint, there’s only a few months to grab em’
I’ve just started marathoning through the series to get enough achievements for EVA.
7 games, 3 months, all legendary.

Man I remember years ago when I bought the AC2 Ezio robes for my Avatar. Also another one I liked was for Fable 3 where when you became King/Queen of Albion, because not only did your Hero get the crown and royal outfit, but your Avatar got it as well
Miss the old avatar system, remember always seeing my friends avatars on the homescreen and liked it a lot. New avatars seem like an afterthought that are used hardly anywhere.

If you're scraping for Halo content, why not review & share your thoughts on the movies? Forward unto Dawn, Fall of Reach, and Nightfall. Those three are as close as we'll get to Halo movies at this time.
You even got Halo Legends, which is a bunch of shorter stories.
@@bsblleon01 IMHO, Forward Unto Dawn was the strongest, and could stand on its own. Fall of Reach is pretty good & gives some background to Chief, Halsey, and the Spartan II program. Nightfall is kinda weak buy gives Locke some character and background, which I am told is lacking in Halo 5.
Legends, Fall of Reach and Forward Unto Dawn are my favourites but it’s so weird that you realize Chief is only in his teens during that movie.
I think it's kinda funny how they get progressively worse overtime with each one. Legends was good but weird and inconsistent. FUD was a big fat 'meh' that seems like some shitty Lifetime movie if you ignore the Halo aesthetic. Fall of Reach had awful directing and somehow made one of the best written stories in all of Halo fiction into one of the worst, and let's be honest, who even remembers anything about Nightfall, let alone cares about it? All in all, the only one that's actually fun to watch and not boring as hell is Legends
My favorite had to be the carmine shirts for gears 3. Turning the shirts into votes on whether or not carmine loved or died.

Man I really miss a lot of these. It was an amazing time to be a gamer. You reminded me of a lot of achievements that I hat to grind for hours/days for. Looking at you ODST firefight…

Oh wow, this was a total blast from the past! My colleague and I were responsible for the Halo avatars released between ~2011 through 2013/2014 (e.g. Halo 4, the Halo Universe collection, and some of the smaller titles like FUD, Spartan Assault, and most of the in-game or event exclusives). I laughed so hard at the "Chief Snuggie" part of the video. My coworker and I still laugh everytime we see that one. This was probably one of the best memories of my career. I'm glad you found some of these as cool and hilarious as we did! Thank you for making this video.

I remember you could make the avatar burp by clicking one of the sticks when you were customizing them. You could even change the pitch by moving the stick.

One thing you missed is that if you attended Halo Outpost Discovery in 2019 and got a VIP ticket, you'd get two halo costumes for the newer avatars. I forget their official canon names, but it was a blue JFO Reach spartan and a brown Recon spartan named Hazel, which I personally have equipped since it's very rare.
I remember playing Kenect Sports, Joy Ride, and Kenect Star Wars with my friends and family. It was fun. Even though the Kenect is really hated, I still had some fun with it. I still have it a long with my 360 elite.
I really wish Xbox expands the 360's lifespan

I remember playing Castleminer Z and that little town kind of like call of duty but with avatar. It was really fun especially with the ODST armor or gears of war helmet and armor as well.

I had the halo 4 game of the year avatar collection set for the Xbox 360 which you forgot to mention. It came with a ghost, snuggie master chief, and these rugby like skins, and a whole bunch more.

You forgot to mention that if you attended Halo Outpost Discovery you got codes for spartan Hazel and spartan Owen costumes for the new avatars.
They're what I wear on xbl, if I didn't have them I'd probably still be using the one avatars still.
I loved trying to unlock all the halo related avatar stuff, especially doing the vid master achievements

Do you know if any of these work in Sega All-Stars Racing? I know the Classic Master Chief one doesn't but that's the only one I have. On the other side the full Crackdown costume does work as do some others so it seems almost random on which ones work and which don't.
mine is Deathstroke and before that it was a vampire but when I play motocross madness it turns into the vampire again cus I never changed it I just put Deathstroke one

I remember I had the Halo reach beta sweatshirt, the beta was fun and reach itself was fun so many memories in custom games and matchmaking
My xbox avatar is still wearing the Halo 4 platinum helmet and the Halo 3 ODST heart shirt
I rocked the Reach beta sweater for a long time. Later I had Rahm Kota's armor, a Battlestar Galactica viper, and I think a lightsaber. Very cool!
I played through ODST with my cousin, and we had just accidentally assigned each other with roles, me on brutes, him on engineers, meaning I got the Good Samaritan achievement and the ODST avatar outfit

I remember me and the boys on a sleepover at my place, we would spend all night looking at the avatars and playing indie games with avatar support
The first XBOX I had bought was in fact, the Halo Reach console and I loved the Toy Falcon it came with, later getting the banshee became my favorites.
Going off topic I also remember that the Eternal Helmet Burn Bright, Burn Blue was also something you could get someplace like Halo Waypoint and being mistaken for a Dev was pretty cool.
I had the dead space 2 suit for mine holding the medpack from l4d2 I miss those days

Fun fact: my UA-cam profile is still my old avatar rocking the halo 4 goty clothed master chief from the halo 5 trailer. It was my profile picture for more than half of the Xbox Ones lifecycle

I know I changed my avatar when I got an Xbox one.
I looked back, didn't have anything special. Had more stuff in my original account, the one I made later I out the Halo Wars 2 beta shirt on with a jackrabbit prop. Would have worn the halo 4 purple recruit armor without the helmet with probably the piller of autumn prop.

For Xmas I got the halo reach Xbox 360 controller, which came with the banshee toy for my avatar. I was 12, just turned 23 yesterday. Damn.
I remember there was a game on the 360 that used your avatar and it was like Minecraft but you were trying to reach the center of a huge procedural world and there were aliens and stuff that would attack you. Can't think of the name of it to save my live
Halo Outpost gave you an opportunity to get Owen and Hazels mark V armor so that's another Halo thing for the new Avatars and god damn it I want Owens armor

They really should bring back the Avatar aspect of Xbox Live. Now they're pretty much forgotten, all you see is a profile picture. Whenever you click on a profile, the person's Avatar should be the first thing you see.
I had the platinum armor mk6 and loved it even had unlocked all the waypoint avatar items I miss those days unfortunately that account was permanently banned :(
