i didn’t either but i downloaded google photos then added my google account . & all my photos appeared on there so i backed them up . then i went to settings and turned off photos for icloud . then it jus started going down 💀 idk what happened but i cleared all of my other storage and still had photos backed up to icloud . hope that helped 😭
Check your photos album->recently deleted(scroll down to the bottom,will be written in blue)...it's like a recycle bin on pc...whatever media you delete goes there and gets permanently deleted after a month I guess.. you can manually clear it too by deleting everything on there (in assuming you don't need any of those and that's y it ended up in deleted folder)from photos app. Try it..I think it will work
I followed step by step, everything you said, and it worked perfectly! I was at 63.5 out of 64 GB used space, with more than half of that being used by other. Now I'm at 10.3 out of 64 GB (without apps, but they weren't taking up that much space) used space and only 2.57 is used by other. Thank you for the info. and instructions. Its a life saver!

IMPORTANT ERROR IN VIDEO : this guy has the paid version of iCloud storage, where most people don’t so if you’re like me you only have 5 GB of iCloud storage which is definitely not enough for all of your photos and apps. So doing this will make you lose most of your photos and app data.

What’s weird is most my storage was used on photos, I use to have 42GB of photo storage, so I cleared that to 12 GB of photo storage, but then all the sudden that’s when my other shot up to 33. I was deleting unwanted apps etc. But just as suddenly, the 'other' decreased back to what it normally looked, just over perhaps 15 GB of the 64 GB storage. I called apple twice to fix the issue with "other"storage taking up almost 80% of 60GB storage and they could not help me resolve it at all. All their suggestions failed. This YT video literally saved my headache and cleared so much memory.
This has definitely worked for me. I had 64 GB and other used 59 GB now I'm down to 1.4 GB. Thank you. All my photos and videos were already backed up on Google photos.
Guys this video is the one you need because all my info is saved and did not need to back up. For example, messages, notes, contacts etc. Just make sure to follow each step from the video, I was scared at first that all my information was going to be gone but no, I am so happy that I found this video.

I found out that “other” goes up by deleting ur photos. It was at 14g I kept deleting photos and videos back and fourth and now it’s at 26g the more photos and videos u delete the more the storage goes up wtf
Vallie Productions I downloaded google photos and it just saves all ur photos on there. So u can log on to any phone and ur photos will be on there. Also wen u take pics or videos they go straight on the app. Then u can just delete all ur photos and videos from the actual photos app and they won’t delete from the google photos app.

I followed the instructions and it worked great for an older 16 gb iPad that was constantly bumping up against full memory warnings. I regained about 5gb headroom. FWIW, I have been wondering for years about this mysterious. “Other” category that was sucking up so much space
I found a trick behind the storage problem. Basically you need to select the photos you want to delete, but before deleting them you have to airdrop them to another device. Once that’s done you can delete the photos and boom, that’s most of your storage cleared. You can even hide the photos on the other device if you don’t want others to find out. Keep in mind this only works if you have another Apple device and their storage isn’t low. I hope my weird little trick helps...

Thank you so much. This worked like a charm, after struggling for a while. Went from 25 GB "other" storage (which grew each time I deleted photos/media), down to 1.2 GB. Not in the video, but I made a redundant back up of all media just in case, using a program called "anytrans". (Since I don't have enough space in my iCloud to do that). Other than that I think this video is perfect. The main strategy to it is making sure iCloud updates everything; erase the phone; and then do *not* restore from iCloud, as that will include "other." Instead just let iCloud do its thing with each of your apps. In the app store, go to the purchased tab to download what you want again. But I definitely recommend a manual backup on your hard drive just in case something goes wrong. Thank you!

Wait so if we haven’t performed an iCloud back up in a long time what happens to those photos that aren’t backed up? Wouldn’t they disappear? Also if we do reset everything, do the photos on our phone disappear but remain on iCloud?
For me i ran out of icloud storage but i didn't loose photos that weren't backed up, but to be safe i'd upload your photos to your computer before doing the reset.

Be brave and listen to this video!! I watched the whole thing through first, so I knew what I was going to get into (Yes, you have to redownload your apps, etc). I finally did it and don't regret it at all. Went from 37 gigs other to 4 now. TIP: Afterwards if you think you've lost something you backed up to icloud, go back into the icloud settings after restarting it and see if it just needs to be switched back on (my messages weren't there until I turned it back on manually). It takes time to redownload the apps and sign back into them all, but it's 100% worth not having to fight the phone and deleting stuff 24/7 and it really not deleting storage at all. It's like having a brand new phone. Again I say, BE BRAVE AND DO IT!

This video was very well done and straightforward. I had 32 gigs of storage space on my phone and all of it was used up. I backed up to iCloud and additionally backed up to iTunes on my PC. Then I followed his procedures to reset the iPhone; however, before I started the reset, I went into my listings of apps and made a hand written a listing on a piece of paper of each app because I knew I wouldn’t remember what they were. Once the phone came back up I was easily able to go back in and restore all of the apps one at a time. This dropped my storage from 32 gigs to 12.

Just followed instructions and now my iPhone 6s has other storage of 1.2 gigs. It was at 9.5 gigs of other and system used 5.2 gigs and couldn't download any apps. Was going to buy a new iPhone 11 but now don't need. Great instructions and really works. Mahalo & Aloha

Vallie Productions I downloaded google photos and it just saves all ur photos on there. So u can log on to any phone and ur photos will be on there. Also wen u take pics or videos they go straight on the app. Then u can just delete all ur photos and videos from the actual photos app and they won’t delete from the google photos app.

Kylie_Cxconut go to icloud.com sign in, press photos, if its not on photos, go to albums, scroll down until you find recently deleted, you might find it there if you backed up icloud.

If your not on WiFi I would wait a day before doing this and allow recent photos a chance to download
okk . hear me out . i downloaded google photos then added my google account . & all my photos appeared on there so i backed them up . then i went to settings and turned off photos for icloud . then it jus started going down 💀 idk what happened but i cleared all of my other storage and still had photos backed up to icloud . hope that helped lmao

I followed the instructions and it worked great for an older 16 gb iPad that was constantly bumping up against full memory warnings. I regained about 5gb headroom. FWIW, I have been wondering for years about this mysterious. “Other” category that was sucking up so much space

I found a trick behind the storage problem. Basically you need to select the photos you want to delete, but before deleting them you have to airdrop them to another device. Once that’s done you can delete the photos and boom, that’s most of your storage cleared. You can even hide the photos on the other device if you don’t want others to find out. Keep in mind this only works if you have another Apple device and their storage isn’t low. I hope my weird little trick helps...

Thank you so much. This worked like a charm, after struggling for a while. Went from 25 GB "other" storage (which grew each time I deleted photos/media), down to 1.2 GB. Not in the video, but I made a redundant back up of all media just in case, using a program called "anytrans". (Since I don't have enough space in my iCloud to do that). Other than that I think this video is perfect. The main strategy to it is making sure iCloud updates everything; erase the phone; and then do *not* restore from iCloud, as that will include "other." Instead just let iCloud do its thing with each of your apps. In the app store, go to the purchased tab to download what you want again. But I definitely recommend a manual backup on your hard drive just in case something goes wrong. Thank you!

You are genius! It worked... I was able to retrieve 24GB of 32GB back onto my iPhone 7plus by following your exact steps in the video. Yes, I had to re-download some of my apps, but it was a breeze 💫 compared to that annoying “Other Storage” that took up my most of my storage. I would def recommend this to my friends & family.

Wait so if we haven’t performed an iCloud back up in a long time what happens to those photos that aren’t backed up? Wouldn’t they disappear? Also if we do reset everything, do the photos on our phone disappear but remain on iCloud?

For me i ran out of icloud storage but i didn't loose photos that weren't backed up, but to be safe i'd upload your photos to your computer before doing the reset.

Be brave and listen to this video!! I watched the whole thing through first, so I knew what I was going to get into (Yes, you have to redownload your apps, etc). I finally did it and don't regret it at all. Went from 37 gigs other to 4 now. TIP: Afterwards if you think you've lost something you backed up to icloud, go back into the icloud settings after restarting it and see if it just needs to be switched back on (my messages weren't there until I turned it back on manually). It takes time to redownload the apps and sign back into them all, but it's 100% worth not having to fight the phone and deleting stuff 24/7 and it really not deleting storage at all. It's like having a brand new phone. Again I say, BE BRAVE AND DO IT!

Clear other storage by long pressing power button and when the screen for power off appears long press home button and when a black screen appears restart your iPad by clicking on Power button and you cleared CACHE ON IPAD

This video was very well done and straightforward. I had 32 gigs of storage space on my phone and all of it was used up. I backed up to iCloud and additionally backed up to iTunes on my PC. Then I followed his procedures to reset the iPhone; however, before I started the reset, I went into my listings of apps and made a hand written a listing on a piece of paper of each app because I knew I wouldn’t remember what they were. Once the phone came back up I was easily able to go back in and restore all of the apps one at a time. This dropped my storage from 32 gigs to 12.

Anyone who is having problems with “other” , just sign out your settings ID (aka Apple ID) then go to storage once your signed out you watch the other bar drop :) Hope this helps

Jess. t I did lose everything. Had backed up though so I recovered 95% of the storage and had to reinstall some apps. It sorted out my storage issue though. This was a risk I was willing to take.
