Now time to explain the end credit scene for both of you Eros aka starfox is the brother of thanos The reason they both look different is because Thanos was born with the deviant gene which caused him to look purple and bigger than the other eternals. I honestly think all it needed was to be a series, that way they could properly build up each member of the Eternals (and maybe even delve a bit more into the sentient Deviant and the Celestials to make them feel like more of a threat). The cast was stacked, it just needed more character building that you can't really pull off in a single movie.

    Some reactors react to Arishem's confession and treat it like it's some villain's plan. He made it clear that it's just part of the cycle and Kingo makes a good point about how they'd be preventing other worlds from being created if they stopped it. Only reason Ajak went against it is because she tought of humans as a special case that deserved to stay alive for saving the universe.

    • @Riku-zv5dk
      @Riku-zv5dk 2 роки тому +100

      And Arishem had the sense of not being rash on the issue and decides to give it some consideration, a villain typically would be overtly angry about their plan being foiled, but Arishem was like 'there might be some merit to what you said, I will evaluate and decide based off your own memories of them'. He more reasonable then most bosses I have had.

    • @billycarvatt9722
      @billycarvatt9722 2 роки тому +17

      I think that it is pretty clear from the opening crawl (which I took for basically what Arishem told the Eternals/fact as far as the Eternals knew it) that Arishem is lying about a great many things, including how new suns and systems and such are made. So I do think it is, as you said, a villain's plan. He isn't creating worlds, he is doing something else with the new Celestials and therefore destroying worlds for (presumably) nefarious means. But that's just what I took out of it and am wrong more than I'd like so take it for what it is worth.

      @@billycarvatt9722 I can understand how you could see it that way. I disagree mostly based on Ajax following along for as long as she did she seem to understand his “design.” And I felt like when Arishem tells Serci the “true plan” he was sincere. I think the deception was more for compartment mentalization for a successful mission. The leader needs to know everything in case of certain things but the grunts don’t as it could interfere with the mission. Also Arishem giving humanity a trial and not just immediately decimating earth makes me see him as not a villain

    • @billycarvatt9722
      @billycarvatt9722 2 роки тому +7

      @@halohalo929 To me I have no doubt that Ajax believed Arishem, it is just a lie. I just don't believe for one second that Arishem is the only reason that new stars & systems is created. It would happen anyways. They may be doing that (creating suns & life), but only to make more Celestials. I have no idea if the true reason he wants more Celestials for just increasing their power/population or if there is some other reason he wants more Celestials.
      As far has him giving humanity a trial, what does he care about humanity? The only reason he ever cared was because of the baby Celestial in the planet. It is dead so he doesn't have to do anything to humanity. I don't think he is vengeful or straight up evil, but I do think that there is another reason he wants more Celestials and it has nothing to do with the whole "we are the only thing that can create stars" narrative.

    Yes Eros is actually Thanos' brother, which is interesting on several levels. First, since Eternals are synthetic in the MCU how would they have kids. Second, in being Eternals, that means Titan was (and technically still is) a host planet for a Celestial that will now never emerge since the population is extinct. The thing about the MCU with movies like this, imo, is that yeah it feels long and heavy, but after this they don't have to waste any more time developing these characters. We already know them now and when we see them in the future they'll get to do way more because it won't be so expository anymore for them. I.E. seeing Yelena in Black Widow dealing with family things, but seeing her in Hawkeye just getting to be her own character and be hilarious and badass because she was already developed in BW.

Yes, some parts were slow and some deleted scenes were kinda important tho if you check them out. Nevertheless it was still a good movie and doesn't deserve the low rating and hate.. The vibe of the movie really captures the characters involved, these are eternals and basically have godlike beings such as celestials, these aren't your typical street level marvel heroes. The whole "Why didn't they help against Thanos?" question that everyone loves to trot out every five seconds holds absolutely no water anyway. Tony and Strange didn't even know a thing about Thanos until literally ten minutes before he appeared out of nowhere and wrecked shop. Then the battle got whisked off to Wakanda's hidden country only known by a handful of people associated with The Avengers. Within a day or two of him first turning up, The Snap had happened. But the second any new character appears with a power, everyone thinks they not only automatically had knowledge of him coming that The Avengers didn't have, knew the fight had gone to Wakanda and had the means to get there in time to help out. It's ridiculous. The world AT LARGE had no idea what was about to happen, all they knew was there was a ship in New York with some aliens, and then not long after that, half the planet disappeared.

And if they wanted to intervene with Thanos, they could’ve definitely reached him. I’m just curious why Arishem wouldn’t be concerned with someone who is actively interfering with its plans by wiping out half the population.

      @@KissablePurpleMonkey okay. So a ship appears in New York, then takes off back into space a few minutes later.
      Within the space of a day (two, maybe?), Thanos arrives in Wakanda and The Snap occurs. How is anyone not already in that circle of people meant to have any idea where to go or what's even happening after the first encounter in New York? Are they just meant to know everything that's going on because the audience does? If they've been split up all this time, the fight would have been over by the time they all got back together. It took longer for them to reunite in this film than the entirety of Infinity War's happening.

You realize that EVERYTHING that has happened in the MCU, even the events of Endgame up until this point has been practically a footnote in the thousand plus page tome of the history of the universe.
    Also the final Post Credit scene was of Dane Whitman (aka Black Knight in the comics) about to finally wield his ancestral weapon, the Ebony Blade aka one of the most powerful and feared weapons in all of Marvel comics. In the comics it is actually the weapon that decapitated a Celestial and that severed head became Knowhere from Guardians of the Galaxy. And when Blade showed up in voice only at the end it’s implied that they will both work together in the upcoming Blade movie.

    33:37 a lot of reactors have missed the point that in a roundabout way, Thanos was right. Without the blip, Tiamat would have emerged weeks from Infinity War (considering time to increase global population after 5 years plus the half brought back).
    Kang was also right to not purge the Avengers from going back into time. He wouldn't exist if they weren't allowed to.
    Thanos was right. He may have massacred trillions across the universe but he also saved Earth and countless other planets from destruction by the Celestials.

    I loved this movie. This was such a huge story to tackle for people that know nothing of the comics. My biggest complaint was the lackluster chemistry between Sersi and Ikiris. Every other side relationship felt more genuine. I think it gets way too much hate.

    • @srae1971
      @srae1971 2 роки тому +2

      I thought it was pretty clunky in the first 30 minutes or so, the delivery of all that information was not handled well at all. But past that point I liked it a lot. It's funny that the chemistry with Sersi and Ikaris was off because Gemma Chan and Richard Madden have been good friends for a long time.

    Love the Game of Thrones callback with Dane and Ikaris (aka Jon and Robb)
    Also, the voice at the end that said “You sure you’re ready for that Mr. Whitman?”
    That was Mahershala Ali as Blade. Blade is another MCU movie soon to start filming.
    In case you didn’t know, Mahershala Ali was in Mockingjay as Coin’s right hand man who had his legs blown up

    The post credits really points to where the MCU is going in terms of opening up the movies to more cosmic stories. the end credits are interesting in that Pip, in the comics was a sidekick of Adam Warlock.And we know Adam Warlock was/ is planned to pop up in Guardians of the Galaxy ( we saw him being kinda born at the end of Duardians 2). And Dane Whitman in the comics is a character called The Black Knight, and that voice was Mahersalla Ali, who's gonna be playing Blade. I wish they'd shown his face.

    The voice in Kit's post scene belongs to Blade (Mahershala Ali). Kit's character is known as Blake Knight and he wields the Ebony Blade (which was mentioned earlier in the movie by Sprite in a scene where Thena's wielding a sword in the Domo). The Ebony Blade is a cursed weapon forged by Merlin in the past, whomever wields the Sword becomes a hero - or a villain (just like in game of throne when they say that every once a Targaryen was born, a coin was toasted by the gods to decide if they would or wouldn't be mad). About the setting in the time line, Eternals is set right after Shang-chi! And... yeah, it's Harry Style in the 1st post scene. He's really Thanos' brother, since Thanos is partially an Eternal at some point, but he also has Deviant genes, which givens him his appearence - which is completely differente from his younger brother as you can see. It's expected that Kit Harington might comes back in MCU in Blade's movie (which will start its production later 2022)

    With the exception of Thena, who suffered repressed PTSD from her past planet journeys, I think had the rest been aware like Ajak, they would have all came to the same mindset.
    It seems to me, by preprogramming them to follow their missions, they didn't have the capability to fight their programming, unless they had the full context of previous lives.
    When Ajak confided in Ikaris the real deal, she set off the emergency default in Ikaris that would make him obey his programming from the Celestial.
    Come the next world, with Ajak gone he would reset and not do what he did again, because he is programmed to protect Serci at all times and to fall in love with her. Perhaps the trigger for them to self evolve is a form of love. Knowing the facts, but at the critical moment, choicing to end his life instead of sacrifice hers made him real for the very first time. He evolved in that moment.
    Unless they hint at Ikaris' body being created to withstand the sun and he just cocoons himself within it (Jean Gray/Phoenix style). Idk. There was no showing of his body melting or burning, just a bright burning light, so....
    I had a big GOT nostalgic moment when seeing Richard and Kit back together on screen.
    The two sexy Stark men. Robb's last words to Jon. "Next time I see you, you'll be wearing black."
    Jon: "I always looked good in black." And now he'll be taking the black of a different kind. The Black Knight. This made me curious about Ikaris really being dead, or are we being misled, because they will run into each other again when they might have to square off or work together to defend earth or something.
    I didn't know the voice at the end, talking to him off screen, was Blade. Thanks to New Rockstars for their easter egg videos for that tidbit. Now, we'll finally get to see how the vampire world will be weaved into the MCU.
    Mobius from Loki, put it out there first when he mentioned the TVA arresting vampire variants, but this just became official.
    Angelina was amazing in this movie, even though I was not taken away by this movie. I can still appreciate the fact that this will connect to the bigger story. Perhaps it will be more impressive to me after more of the next phase is revealed and I can see the importance of their part within it.
    Even though, for now, this is at the bottom of the totem pole of my MCU movie list, it's still above the last one on my list...the hulk movie. It's like the shame of the family you don't want people to know about. It's so skippable, imo.
    An Ikaris and Serci comparison to illustrate what I meant about alien A.I. becoming self aware of his choices because of love: Vision in Captain America Civil War. Hurting Wanda made him have a doubt and messed with his mission focus. As he said to Tony..."I got distracted." Tony: "I didn't think that was possible." Vision: "Neither did I".

    Per Screenrant:
    "A key question around the Eternals Dane Whitman credits scene is who was the voice that asked Dane if he's sure about taking up the Ebony Blade? The off-screen voice that speaks to Dane in Eternals' post-credits scene has been confirmed to be Mahershala Ali's Blade. Ali's solo MCU movie, Blade, which is coming in 2024, is the next most likely appearance by the Ebony Blade and Dane Whitman himself."

    21:49 I liked seeing *Nikki* laugh at a joke, and then immediately comment how some of them are ill-timed. And then not 15 seconds later she's laughing out loud _again._ 😏
    I wasn't expecting a lot from this movie, but I certainly didn't see the problems you saw. I thought it flowed quite well. _But hey, we all have our different perspectives._ 🤷🏼‍♂️
    I quite like how it expanded the Marvel Universe. But I do wonder how they're going to handle this going forward. My expectation is that the _Eternals_ are not going to be quite as Earthbound as they had been.
    I am bothered that the reception this film received will prevent Marvel from doing anything different going forward. They're going to stay to the same formula that is starting to get quite tired IMO.
    As for your concern about including new characters, you just simply start with their origin story. Which is what virtually every Marvel hero was given. _Fantastic Four?_ They don't exist until they go into space. They don't have to *already* exist. _The mutants?_ Easily explained by any event that we saw in the past, having *suddenly* brought them about.¹
    *Edit:* I recently saw a discussion about how _Spider-Man, No Way Homie!_ steps away from the standard Marvel _"sadness, and then a joke, sadness and then a joke"_ situation that *Nikki* pointed out. How it allows moments to _simply be._ I hope they take a lesson from that film.
    ··•✺•··
    ¹ ─ Of course they can always be pulled in from the Multiverse.

    I really liked ETERNALS, it was almost not a superhero film but about Gods and their creators. The cinematography, score, etc was on WB level of production in terms of quality - like recent films Dune, The Suicide Squad, Doctor Sleep, and of course DC films akin to Man of Steel, ZSJL, etc - but the pacing was a bit off between characters and their motivations, and lacked some character development but they do have a really good foundation and bunch of characters for a sequel, so I welcome ETERNALS 2. This is a film that felt more matured, focused on plot instead of packing in action, Gods essentially trying to be more human in their justification as to stop Tiamut, like the Gods of Olympus trying to stop Cronus from destroying Earth.
    Zhao' direction was great for this kind of MCU film; but 500 critics give it 48% compared to 10000+ viewers whom gave it 78% on RT, fan and viewer reactions matter more, they always have. A bad review hardly stops me from seeing a film.

    Hi Guys! Glad to see you guys enjoying Eternals. On Kit Harrington's character, Dane Whitman. Dane's family history is indeed "complicated". They have been the inheritors of the legendary Ebony Blade. Their Ancestor was the original Black Knight in Arthurian Legends. When he wields the Blade, or it is bound to the Blade, it is said he has strength, agility, reflexes, at par with Captain America. The thing is, however, is that the blade is cursed. Every time the blade draws blood( or was it kills?), the wielder slowly goes crazy. I think i remember that the blade gets its powers by absorbing the souls of the people it kills. So basically, the person bound to the blade hears the babble of the souls the blade has killed over the centuries....

    I really like this movie. Before seeing it I wasn't all that interested because it looked very different from the other MCU movies. There is a reactor who described the movie very well as "A love letter to humanity" which I understand and it is insightful and a very fitting observation. Here is what I think - the Eternals are pretty much gods because they've lived for thousands of years therefore, as we all know from Greek gods, they don't behave like humans, not at all. The movie has to portray that they are so unlike us but that for some reason they've decided to live among humans and so we get to see their take on humanity - it is a view from the outside as well as from the inside, but it is an immortal's point of view. When you see scenes of a city moving in accelerated time this is a little of what it might be like for them. Okay so they're very different from humans - but yet they're all familiar because they belong to the history of human civilization. This is a really good fit, a fantastic way to write these otherworldly beings into the MCU. I thought that they might just say it's an alternate universe, but they didn't. So I really like this movie in the right context. Regarding pacing, it didn't bother me a bit at first viewing but I was primed by that idea of what this movie was supposed to be about - it ponders a simple question, are they worth saving?

    And, I think I would have been on the side of Kingo ( not Ikaris, his actions were too much). If the birth of a Celestial means I don’t know how many planets being born as well and the balance and continuation of the universe, well, that’s a lot more important than a small planet, in our case. But, in conflict with that, comes the point of, in that reality, we did fucking save the universe and destroyed Thanos ( who’s actually related to the Eternals in some capacity, with deviant genes, so they should have intervinde) we deserved a brake and also, 7 thousand years ago how could they have known that, but anyway, they are not gonna ran out of celestials.
    MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, absolutely DISGUSTING that guy being chosen to be the brother of big boy Thanos, absolutely horrible choice. We deserved a bad ass eternal-thanos-bro
