He sang with such ease, definately the most impressive human voice ever, no question about it. There have been many good singers in different genres, but in my opinion Ted Needley's performance in JCS takes the price, for its raw power and immensely hard technique. No one has topped it yet.
The backround orchestra sound like the alien band from Star Wars, on the other hand..

Ted was easy to meet if you ever went to any of the shows. My wife and I met him three different times back in the 90s by just hanging around the stage exit. He is the most soft-spoken, genuinely nice person you’ll ever meet. He takes time with each person waiting by the exit, even if it takes a couple hours. I have never seen him snub anyone.
It could be different in large cities, I guess. Somewhere like NY or LA could have too many people waiting around, so he finds a way to slip the mob, but in any smaller city there are just a few people. We went to shows in Orlando and Jacksonville.
I doubt he is touring anymore since he is in his upper 70s. I think he already did a farewell tour. Too bad, because you could have easily gotten to meet him if you caught one of his shows in a smaller city. Two of the shows we went to also featured Carl Anderson, who we also got to meet. Carl was always the best Judas ever. Carl sadly passed away from complications from leukemia. RIP Carl.
He has an amazing voice! God blessed Ted with a powerful voice and Ted sing it in the live presentation as well as in the movie Jesus Christ Superstar. Glory and praise to you Lord for the beautiful gift given to Ted Neely.
Ted, your vocal range is pure magic. Thank you for blessing us with it.

I'm a Gillan die hard fan but this is very beautiful. Better than the movie version which was already great.
For me the best version I heard. His last performances are still very emotional, but here his voice is better. Now after the scream he goes lower. This is really great live performance!

Ian Gillan and Ted Neely are only vocalist in my book, that sing this stuff way it meant to be singed. Original studio version of Ian, and original movie version of Ted are truly godly, and this live right here is also sweet as hell. ALL HAIL TED NEELY, ALL HAIL IAN GILLAN!!!
You would probably love Szomor Gyorgy's version of this song! It was the 2001 Hungarian movie. Unbelievable! And I mean... I love Ted and Ian's interpretations but this guy makes them look pale in comparison... The emotion he puts in it is just out of this world!
