- 30 years ago today, Karen Carpenter died at age 32 in Downey, CA. Here is various TV coverage from that very dark day--- February 4th, 1983. Finally transferred from VHS--here is my special offering to mark this sad anniversary. RIP dear Karen--We Never Forget!
Please look at 6.21 the most beautiful and sweet face ever lived: such an enchanting and unbeliavable dream can never exist again!!! I will love you for all the rest of my life, dear Karen.
I miss that beautiful lady so much...even today 34 years after we lost her. She WAS my childhood!

Yes--Karen had issues with food--but as the years have passes, we have learned much about eating disorders. Karen was a beautiful and fun loving young girl--who--like so many her age---feel they will live forever. Believe me---she had no desire to die--she loved life--and she loved HER life. She certainly could have benefited by much more concentrated care than she was receiving. Thanks for writing
Although I wasn't born until 1968, I grew up listening to the Carpenters. There music si nostalgic and makes my heart happy! What a blessing this group has been to everyone who listened.
I was born a little bit before you, and I grew up with the Carpenters as well. "We've Only Just Begun" was my parents wedding song.
If I had a chance to meet Karen Carpenter in person,it would have been great.
I have saved a lot of old VHS tapes. I transferred a lot of video onto dvd's finally and just thought that these should go on UA-cam so the whole world could enjoy them. Just glad they remained in pretty good condition.
So sad to see even after all these years 💔

Thank you for posting. I remember that day. I was shocked, and so sad. Her voice was nothing short of Angelic. Such a sad tragedy. May she rest in peace, as she leads the choir of the Angels in Heaven.

My mom and dad told me about her passing even though I wasn't born when she died.
Hi Elaine: Karen was a dear friend of mine. She was a wonderful girl with an incredible sense of humor and a great laugh! Add in the incredible voice, she was just an incredible person. Hope you get to discover some her music. The older stuff is the best!
Elaine, Karen was sincere and goodhearted. Although famous she stayed real, didn't become arrogant or conceited.

Thanks a lot for your saving these footages & sharing them with us. I loved this brother sister duo, the Carpenters. i remember being very sad at her death. About 11 years ago her brother set up & had recorded a movie sharing their story & I watched that & enjoyed it very much. i just found it here on utube & just finished watching it again. Then your video of this appeared. Thanks for sharing.

I just realized how wonderful of a singer Karen was. I've been watching as many youtube vids as I can find. I am very behind as I look at most comments that were made years age. Oh well, better late than never. Thank you for this!

I'm so glad I wasn't there the day this occurred I would've died the same day of a broken heart let me say this girl was the greatest female singer sent from heaven and on this earth to bring happiness to millions of people I love you karen you are missed like crazy your legacy will live forever
Anorexic Nervosa Is what killed her .Fans don't get much Bigger Than Me .. its a Mental Issue and can be VERY STRONG .the Person in most cases thinks they are fat , its a Very strange Disease , compulsion. In Karens Case Probably compounded by the fact she was getting a divorce and even though partly hidden was probably depressed. She was very very thin which probably caused her heart to fail..Before Richard move Karen I visited her vault at Forest lawn in Cypress Ca to give My respects..

She died from the Anorexia combined with excessive exercise, working non-stop, and the years of that took a toll on her poor heart. Her heart just couldn't take it. The heart muscles actually starve along with the body and lose strength and size. After years and years of having the disease Anorexia Nervosa...the human heart just gives out. She had gained weight before her death but the internal damage had sadly already been done. Even sadder that she was only 32 years-old when she passed on.
2024 and Karen still going strong here.
