Many ib fans hate Mary because of Gary hating Mary. Okay. She isn't exactly evil she's a creation of Guertina and she symbolises the daughter and Guertina symbolises the Father. Mary is sad and lonely she is also strange and weird because of her surroundings she was born in and lived in for years,giving her the personality making her think that everything that happens there is normal. She's lonely because the other paintings can't talk and she can't communicate with the art who can't talk.Ib and Gary come and Mary thinks they're also art probably... But later she could've found out they're humans she sees Ib and tries to befriend her. Since she's also female,Gary thinks Mary is obnoxious because of her childish personality.maybe that will make you like Mary more. :3 great cover Jayn!!!

I like this version very much! I mean, the others are nice too, but usually singer sounds older, while Mary's just a little girl, and the voice in this video sounds so.. Lonely and quiet, just like she feels in the gallery. I especially like how it changes from quiet to loud and aggressive in one part :DD AND i also really like how the part from 0:55 to 1:29 sounds!

so, i know this song is reaching 10 years but i dont care. i did my research and i wanna geek out here. i just found out what what this character and what "Ib" is. some things i may say may be wrong because im simply analyzing what ive seen so far with my research the first lines that say "welcome to my world thats painted with sadness" practically foreshadows saying that she herself is part of the world of paint and is stuck that way. the lines that say "here im waiting silently for you, father. why were you so cruel? why would you leave mary alone?" makes me think that shes referring to her artist or even possibly the adult figure, garry. i dont think this is the case but im considering all possibilities. the cruel and loneliness part makes me think that she holds some sort of grudge at the creator of the art shes in because she was the only girl that was created in her canvas. "please take me away i desperately promise to be a good girl, to be worthy of your love." makes me think that she has been completely desperate to leave and find the love she needs from Ib. hence the "forever together" ending in the game. "i dont need the paint books, the dolls and the dresses. just tell me why you left your pictures and gone." this line poke some holes in my holding a grudge theory. i cant explain in what way because the possibilities would go on for far longer then needed. "who are you stranger, with a red rose in your hand? i liked you at first sight, i wanna be your friend lets play!" this like refers to "Ib" obviously. "ive never asked for this place called my home, and hope you will stay with me until the end." so this bit makes me think she hates that she was created the way she did due to the amount of loneliness that came with her creation. "please dont be scared of me. im a good girl. i just want to be with you to forget my sorrow." im pretty sure this line goes forward to when Garry found out about mary's secret and practically made sure that garry kept her distance from "Ib" until his last breath. "why does he resemble he who created this gallery and pretty picture that gave me birth." this line picks up some sort of suspicion that mary really thinks that garry is mary's creator. i have a few more reason to believe this as well that come from the game. "my tears are falling, why is it so painful. i did nothing wrong so why do you hate me so much." this line of the song traces back to the ending where mary calls out to garry, Ib, and a father figure. it could also be the burning ending but the mere fact that she was being told such cruel things when she was makes me think that the cruelty of the words pierced her harder then realization that she had to give up "Ib" (i hope that made sense) "this burning canvas became your cruel answer. and now flames unsparingly kiss me goodnight." this portion alone speaks heavily on mary's defeat and death all together. i apologize for the long comment. i love theorizing about this shit between games and songs. i wanna add one more thing before i end this comment with some support. i believe garry has some sort of resemblance to the artist of mary's painting because she only interacted with garry because it was either convenient for her or because "Ib" was worried about him. or obviously because he is an adult. i love the song. keep up the good work :)
Just had the sudden -urge- to dive back into the Ib fandom and the first thing I did beside refresh myself on the game was listen to this specific cover. Even after like... 5? 6? 7? years of this being out, this is still one of my most favorite covers of ANY song. The lyric delivery, the way it tells a perfectly summarized version of events, THE EMOTION AT THE END AS THE PAINTING BURNS AND THE AFTERMATH???? Not to mention the subtle lore of the game with Gueratina- Just... Ahhhh. Relistening to this song after so long is so.. good. Older covers like these make me so, so, so excited for the Ib remake next year. Thank you sm for making this, even if this comment is WAY late.

I think in the ending Welcome to the World of Guertena, they all stay together w/o Mary killing them (Garry goes insane, Ib and Mary's relationship is high so Mary decides not to leave Garry and Ib because there's no option where Ib leaves insane Garry)
@@stickmic2 Correction, people ALREADY like him more - as you can see from the many comments bitching about why it’s so unfair people prefer Garry over Mary. Secondly, to answer the point about character development, Garry is the perfect example of doing a lot with a little. Most people’s affection from Garry comes from his personality. You don’t find out a lot about his backstory, you don’t need to. People grow fond of the character through his interactions with Ib. Not to mention his willingness to lay down his life for a little girl, despite being generally scared of everything.
What makes me like this version is the fact her tone actually switches to aggression when it reach "My tears are falling." It's like she had enough of these people and truly wanted to know why they hated her.
Of all the covers I've heard for this song, this one is so special... It has some tragic note of its own, a shade that I cannot describe... Wonderful job, thank you that it exists!

I know this video is rather old, but I got an ad for a mobile game called "Tales of Grim," and I think they used your version of this song in the background. I hope they asked for your permission first.
Gonna go out and say it... *STOP* saying things along the lines of: "Oh *NO* Mary's *NOT* evil! She just wants a *"friend"* Okay? And no it's not because I dislike her character, in fact I love every character in Ib! The problem is, she didn't just want a "friend". In case you didn't know the *BASIC* plot of Ib, on Mary's end, she needs a sacrifice if she wants to travel to the real world, so she can take their place in existence. Not just a friend. I mean yes it's true, a friend is one of the things she wants, but quit acting like that's the ONLY thing she wants! Plus the sacrifice thing is a tad bit more justifying of her actions than wanting a friend. "Oh yeah I'm gonna potentially cause harm to these people because I want a friend!" Said literally no one ever. And even then her actions aren't justified. These two people, ACTUAL HUMANS WITH ACTUAL LIVES AND LOVED ONES TO RETURN TO get trapped and you want to sacrifice at least one of them. It's honestly a bit selfish. But I can't be mad at Mary, she probably has no sense of right or wrong at this point, being "born" into a dark place. She never had actual people to show her how to behave etc. due to her legit being a painting. But she *obiously* was getting desperate, I would be too if I hadn't seen sunlight in years. Idk why but i teared up at 'she only wanted to be with her father'. Now that i realize it she was the last painting created by her 'father', the author of the museum, so she didn't get to spend any time with him. Also she is the first painting yo have a full body, which explains why she tricked Ib and Garry so easily. Sorry if this is wrong, just got over nostalgic :))

No no, I did this version! I made sure the parts were still creepy because it's how the song was made and I absolutely love it like that. The faces were quite hilarious at first. When people started hearing it, you could tell they were a little freaked out, but after a bit, they actually started nodding their head to the beat. @teaganeastman

Man after playing the Remake this just fills me with sadness. I wish there were an ending where all three could have gotten out and been happy. I love both Garry and Mary and wish both could have a happy ending. Same with Ib.
For those who don't know its from a free RPG called Ib. If you play it or watch a playthrough of it the song will make perfect sense. (The game starts out a bot slow but gets really good. Besides, its free so even if you dobt like it I don't think you gave the right to complain.)
Ib is a game that I hope does NOT get an anime, fan made or not. Part of the charm is that are so many different endings, and you can choose in your mind which one is "correct". An anime would make this extremely hard to pull off, unless there was a separate ending for each ending in the game. On a side note, Together Forever is my favorite! Followed by World of Guertina, where at least they are all together. And still alive, despite what many claim.

Mary is probably my favorite character in Ib (Garry is 2nd Ib is 3rd) I just love her personality and how she appears as the main antagonist (villain) but all she really wants is to go outside and have friends....

so, i know this song is reaching 10 years but i dont care. i did my research and i wanna geek out here. i just found out what what this character and what "Ib" is. some things i may say may be wrong because im simply analyzing what ive seen so far with my research
the first lines that say "welcome to my world thats painted with sadness" practically foreshadows saying that she herself is part of the world of paint and is stuck that way.
the lines that say "here im waiting silently for you, father. why were you so cruel? why would you leave mary alone?" makes me think that shes referring to her artist or even possibly the adult figure, garry. i dont think this is the case but im considering all possibilities. the cruel and loneliness part makes me think that she holds some sort of grudge at the creator of the art shes in because she was the only girl that was created in her canvas.
"please take me away i desperately promise to be a good girl, to be worthy of your love." makes me think that she has been completely desperate to leave and find the love she needs from Ib. hence the "forever together" ending in the game.
"i dont need the paint books, the dolls and the dresses. just tell me why you left your pictures and gone." this line poke some holes in my holding a grudge theory. i cant explain in what way because the possibilities would go on for far longer then needed.
"who are you stranger, with a red rose in your hand? i liked you at first sight, i wanna be your friend lets play!" this like refers to "Ib" obviously.
"ive never asked for this place called my home, and hope you will stay with me until the end." so this bit makes me think she hates that she was created the way she did due to the amount of loneliness that came with her creation.
"please dont be scared of me. im a good girl. i just want to be with you to forget my sorrow." im pretty sure this line goes forward to when Garry found out about mary's secret and practically made sure that garry kept her distance from "Ib" until his last breath.
"why does he resemble he who created this gallery and pretty picture that gave me birth." this line picks up some sort of suspicion that mary really thinks that garry is mary's creator. i have a few more reason to believe this as well that come from the game.
"my tears are falling, why is it so painful. i did nothing wrong so why do you hate me so much." this line of the song traces back to the ending where mary calls out to garry, Ib, and a father figure. it could also be the burning ending but the mere fact that she was being told such cruel things when she was makes me think that the cruelty of the words pierced her harder then realization that she had to give up "Ib" (i hope that made sense)
"this burning canvas became your cruel answer. and now flames unsparingly kiss me goodnight." this portion alone speaks heavily on mary's defeat and death all together.
i apologize for the long comment. i love theorizing about this shit between games and songs. i wanna add one more thing before i end this comment with some support. i believe garry has some sort of resemblance to the artist of mary's painting because she only interacted with garry because it was either convenient for her or because "Ib" was worried about him. or obviously because he is an adult.

Just had the sudden -urge- to dive back into the Ib fandom and the first thing I did beside refresh myself on the game was listen to this specific cover. Even after like... 5? 6? 7? years of this being out, this is still one of my most favorite covers of ANY song. The lyric delivery, the way it tells a perfectly summarized version of events, THE EMOTION AT THE END AS THE PAINTING BURNS AND THE AFTERMATH???? Not to mention the subtle lore of the game with Gueratina- Just... Ahhhh. Relistening to this song after so long is so.. good. Older covers like these make me so, so, so excited for the Ib remake next year. Thank you sm for making this, even if this comment is WAY late.

I think in the ending Welcome to the World of Guertena, they all stay together w/o Mary killing them (Garry goes insane, Ib and Mary's relationship is high so Mary decides not to leave Garry and Ib because there's no option where Ib leaves insane Garry)

Correction, people ALREADY like him more - as you can see from the many comments bitching about why it’s so unfair people prefer Garry over Mary.
Secondly, to answer the point about character development, Garry is the perfect example of doing a lot with a little. Most people’s affection from Garry comes from his personality. You don’t find out a lot about his backstory, you don’t need to. People grow fond of the character through his interactions with Ib. Not to mention his willingness to lay down his life for a little girl, despite being generally scared of everything.

Gonna go out and say it...
*STOP* saying things along the lines of: "Oh *NO* Mary's *NOT* evil! She just wants a *"friend"*
Okay? And no it's not because I dislike her character, in fact I love every character in Ib! The problem is, she didn't just want a "friend". In case you didn't know the *BASIC* plot of Ib, on Mary's end, she needs a sacrifice if she wants to travel to the real world, so she can take their place in existence. Not just a friend. I mean yes it's true, a friend is one of the things she wants, but quit acting like that's the ONLY thing she wants! Plus the sacrifice thing is a tad bit more justifying of her actions than wanting a friend. "Oh yeah I'm gonna potentially cause harm to these people because I want a friend!" Said literally no one ever. And even then her actions aren't justified. These two people, ACTUAL HUMANS WITH ACTUAL LIVES AND LOVED ONES TO RETURN TO get trapped and you want to sacrifice at least one of them. It's honestly a bit selfish. But I can't be mad at Mary, she probably has no sense of right or wrong at this point, being "born" into a dark place. She never had actual people to show her how to behave etc. due to her legit being a painting. But she *obiously* was getting desperate, I would be too if I hadn't seen sunlight in years. Scratch that, I actually haven't seen sunlight in years. Please don't think I dislike Mary's character, I love these character's and the character arcs and plot because it's just so interesting. But my god *STOP* saying she isn't evil because she wants friends. Sure, everybody had a different view of right and wrong. But Mary most-likely knew what she did was wrong. Idk why but i teared up at 'she only wanted to be with her father'. Now that i realize it she was the last painting created by her 'father', the author of the museum, so she didn't get to spend any time with him. Also she is the first painting yo have a full body, which explains why she tricked Ib and Garry so easily. Sorry if this is wrong, just got over nostalgic :))

No no, I did this version! I made sure the parts were still creepy because it's how the song was made and I absolutely love it like that. The faces were quite hilarious at first. When people started hearing it, you could tell they were a little freaked out, but after a bit, they actually started nodding their head to the beat. @teaganeastman

For those who don't know its from a free RPG called Ib. If you play it or watch a playthrough of it the song will make perfect sense. (The game starts out a bot slow but gets really good. Besides, its free so even if you dobt like it I don't think you gave the right to complain.)

Ib is a game that I hope does NOT get an anime, fan made or not.
Part of the charm is that are so many different endings, and you can choose in your mind which one is "correct". An anime would make this extremely hard to pull off, unless there was a separate ending for each ending in the game.
On a side note, Together Forever is my favorite! Followed by World of Guertina, where at least they are all together. And still alive, despite what many claim.
