I Love this so much!!! So many Great Memories!!! ❤️🎶🎶❤️ 76 the year I met you,Gerry and Dewey!!! Dan had just left the group. sadly, but you have to follow your Heart....I Love you Just as much now as I did back then!!! ❤️🎶🎶❤️
Where did this come from?? OMG! Thank You So Much!! The final album from all three. I miss the fuck out of Dan Peek. America are an American institute that are constantly touring yet are sorely underrated in the states but who cares. They have been my go to mellow group since their first album. We are America fans. We will always be America fans til we die !
Thanks for sharing this! One of my favorite albums. A true overlooked treasure. I still have the vinyl album and the poster that came with it in my studio.
Thanks for sharing this documentary! This is my favorite album from the George Martin era, and one of my 3 favorites from the band. I wish I could be there!
Thanks for posting this. It's an opportunity for those who were not born during that era to get a glimpse of what was the band was like at their prime years.
A very climactic event... The last album with Dan Peek... Sir George Martin with a very pensive look on Gerry doing "Sarah", as if wondering "Did the Beatles even ever record anything this Profound?"... And of course, a vacation for the band, trying not to be too neglectful of the productive need that they were there in Hawaii to make an ALBUM...! The songs not just reflecting the sunny rejoicing of Paradise, as much as connecting with family, friends and loved ones, in song, putting forth a bit of a message of how work kept themselves too busy, but not too much that couldn't, even a little, to show they care (borrowing a little from "Sister Golden Hair")... -- \ : D /
Very good documentary! Why can't it be on home video? I'd buy it. Who was the beautiful lady sitting during the Gerry ballad? Interesting that there is no reference to Dan being about to leave, but he is featured less than Gerry and Dewey. (Brilliant adding Crystal Gayle and Rick Dees from "Solid Gold" at the end, lol.)
Bob...Not sure .she is, doesn't look like any of the wives or girlfriends at the time. She certainly is beautiful. Not sure if Dan or the band knew he would soon be leaving, there were tensions but I think things came to a head after they got back and his house, the While Rose, burned down.
awesome, i've been looking for this documentary for ages this may be silly but I wonder if they were really using dynamic mic' s for the vocals or if it was just for show
Too often many bands feel the need to keep churning out product that attempts to meet record company demands rather than truly inspired work. Sadly, this was the case with America.
Peek tasted everything that the world has to offer and it left him feeling empty. Even as a contemporary Christian music artist he may have experienced disillusionment. Maybe that's why he retreated to a small town in Missouri for the final years of his life. I don't think any of his America band mates even attended his funeral service.
There are many good tracks on this album, at least the ones Dan wasn't singing on. His voice just clashed with Gerry's and Dewey's. Dan had this weak 'warble' to his voice that was 'sharp' in relation to the rest of the band.
In my view, this was a poor album full of saccharine pop little ditties, silly and superficial and uninspired. Their best albums were the first three - after Hat trick their music turned to mush with one or two exceptions. They should have continued to produce their own material and go with Dewey’s writing rather than Beckley’s; there was far more substance to Dewey’s writing but Beckley wanted to innovate and keep up with the times - as a result they crashed in popularity and airplay. They could have had a really huge following. Pity.
Autentici, plini de viață, talentați, originali ! O trupă grozavă ! ❤
America, forever in my life. I love Gerry, Dewey and Dan (Rip). God bless them.🙏🇧🇷❤

I had that same poster, but lost it in a house fire many years ago. Still have the original vinyl though.

There was some good bud there in Hawaii before Reagan. God bless Sir George Martin
So great! Love Kauai and this video!
Superb stuff, never seen this before. Never forget Dan.
Dan seems distant from Dewey and Gerry. He left the band shortly after those recording sessions.
I love that album!!!!
Love, love, love!! Did this used to be a 4 part documentary??
awesome,
i've been looking for this documentary for ages

Fab album, even still.
we need one for "view from the ground"

Dan Peek was living in a small, Missouri town when he passed, it just goes to show fame and money aren't necessarily all they are supposed to be.

It's all vanity.
