I loved how SCTV always integrated the musical acts into the skits.
Indeed
Cheesy by today's standards, but this is a treasure. Gerry Beckley is one of my top 3 favorite singer/songwriters. His melody structures are so pleasing to my ears. All of my range-of-emotions are engaged, if I listen to 3-4 of his songs. Again, his production values/choices are always spot on. What he does these days shows how he's still on top of the production/writing scene. Long live AMERICA.

Yes they do , it’s all politics, America is one of thee very best Rock bands of all time! The hall of fame took so long to induct the Moody Blues that Ray Thomas passed away the month before! They also took their sweet time inducting Ringo Star, he’s a Beatle for God’s sake ! America definitely should have been in already!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🎸🎸😊
It's a pity they haven't included this song in their concerts. They are a great band!

Yeah it should be a staple in every show. I think I’ve heard them play it once live but it’s rare now. It’s actually a Canadian song by Ian Thomas.

America the band is wonderful in the most awesome ways I’ve been following you since I was 13 years old I saw you in concert at the Warner Theatre in Torrington Connecticut was the greatest day of my life… You were the biggest and the best back in the 70s always always been my favorite band And now that I’m in my 60s you are still my favorite band always thank you for so much for all the wonderful years of music you’ve provided to me I wish you nothing but the best❤❤❤
as a fan of sctv and realizing america was on sctv makes me 10x happier (that includes the one where rick moranis did a tribute skit for michael mcdonald) because they had a chance to be collaborating with a legends from the second city!!!

This is awesome! A very rare find. Now does anyone have the actual music video to this song? I seen it aired only one time years ago. It showed Dewey & Gerry in a limousine in the storyline in the video.

looking back a few years ago, i would always hear it from the radio every morning and wonder who sang it, because the harmonies weren't explainable on how good it was. the melody and the magic within this song shines anyways; right now that i‘ve found it, it's always on repeat to my music player. love this.
Fitting that they are doing their remake of a great song that was the classic tune written by Canadian musician Ian Thomas,the brother of SCTV's Dave Thomas.Awesome!

This is so funny and I've had the opportunity to see America the band in concert twice in person
At 22 this was the very first song I played on the 8 track when my 82 Vette was delivered. I loved the song even more than I loved the car. They were still a good match though. I think I wore that 8 track out because you couldn’t rewind them. You had to fast forward through the whole 8 track just to hear the song again. Good times, Good times

@@bigrockies True that it is an Ian Thomas song, and I love his version, too. But America also did a great job on it. Given that Ian Thomas is the brother of SCTV's Dave Thomas, I doubt they would have had America do the song on SCTV if Ian didn't think America did a great version, as well.
Music isn't a competition, son. Good musicians cooperate and appreciate each other's excellence.
@@squirrelbutler2119 You're right. It's not a competition, dad. It's a preference. I also (heavily) prefer Thomas' version. Although a very "soft" song for him, he seemed to make it a little grittier. America's version seems too fluffy (as I try not to say gay).
Yeah, when @bigrockies said that one version is "better", he made it a competition. But when you say you 'prefer' one over the other, that's just musical tastes differing. Big difference.
