Well, I'm 11 years old and I love all the old music and I'm glad there are still some people that were alive during those times to tell all the people that think modern music is "the stuff" that the oldies were "the stuff". My grandparents always tell me about the oldies and I love hearing the stories they tell me.

Im willing to overlook the annoying ads just to hear these great songs! I was a child when these songs came out. I couldn't wait to fall in love . I'd listen and daydream. Now I'm 67 and still listening and waiting for Love to appear.
My wife and I use to play Bread music for our children all those years ago, now our children are in their mid-late 20's and its wonderful seeing them listening to Bread every time we visit them..
Bread were known for numerous hits during the early 70's, however they weren't taken very seriously as they were "too nice and clean". And yet their hits kept on coming. Great upload.
People don't realize that Bread was made up of David Gates and a super-hot band of studio pros who could all play multiple instruments like virtuosos. That's why they can play so well live like this. GREAT band!
You're totally missing the part where Jimmy Griffin also sang some tunes but none of them are put out as a single. In the classic band lineup was David Gates, Jimmy Griffin, Robby Royer and Mike Botts. David sang vocals and played guitar. Jimmy played guitar, keyboards and percussion and also was a vocalist, Robby was mainly the bass guitarist but he also was percussion, flute or recorder and background vocals and finally Mike Botts was the drummer. Ron Edgar and Jim Gordon were used for piano playing on the first albums. Royer left in 1972 and Larry Knechtel took his role over. Larry also played the harmonica on several songs. The band began in 1967 and took a hiatus in 1973 But returned in 1976 only to officially disband in 1978. David Gates went solo but they decided to reunite in 1995 for one tour. When the touring ended they disbanded for good in 1997.

I don't know much about his pre Bread singles but David Gates gave Saturday's Child to The Monkees and Michael Nesmith did some pre Monkees singles and called himself Michael Blessings!!!
Nope sorry it is lip synced. Otherwise who is singing harmony on Everything I own? The bass and other guitar player wasn't. The drummer doesn't have a vocal mic. He does have a boom to pick up cymbals. However it was common in those days due mostly to time and money for all bands to lip sync. The very best you could hope for would for them to sing to a prerecorded track(to give a live feel and appearance). Plus his voice doesn't change volume when backing to and from the mic. That doesn't make them any less great. It was really a money/time thing.
@zalewskimm please read the WHOLE comment. It very easy could have been synced to a prerecorded live track. Again where are the backing vocalist? He's good. But not that good.
@@tjvanpopta really that's your comeback? I do kn ow the other members. Glad you took the time to look them up. Not sure what their names have to do with it. Being a Bread fan as you are please watch the whole video. Everything I Own has harmonies on the chorus. Please listen the watch the video. NO ONE ELSE IS SINGING. NO ONE ELSE HAS A VOCAL MIC. Just sort of odd. No looking for a fight but since I worked for Dick Clark production back in the 70s. I'm aware of what and how certain things were done then. Shit like this always bothered me. Similar to no cords for the guitars. Before cordless came along. Happy Turkey Day.
Nope...not lip sync....if you watch the credits at the end it even names the backing vocalist....probably in the wings. This is a live performance for sure.

For fellow Bread fans, watch the videos of Larry Knectel. Definitely a musician's musician...On 'Guitar Man' Jimmy Griffin was having a hard time coming up with the guitar line, so Larry steps in and pounds out a gem....among others, Simon and Garfunkel were recording 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' and were looking for the piano part, and Larry comes up with the iconic piano piece that really defines the song....A true master...RIP Larry.
Tim S - Yes! Larry played on so many other hits since the early 1960’s when he was just a kid! Then man was truly an AMAZINGLY GIFTED MUSICIAN. He was a main player in The Wrecking Crew, in the 1960’s. He played on Frank Sinatra’s “Strangers In The Night” smash hit, and too many others to mention.

all is song are great but cloud and rain was at the top
This sounds like it’s actually live! These boys could play! The way David talks to the audience is great and friendly.
63 years old, brings back many memories of my teen years, music and lyrics from the heart and soul, like real music should be. Thank you for posting :)
Hi David, I totally agree and i'm pleased you enjoyed it, i still watch it frequently.
Regards,
Terry (avcdeal)
Well, I'm 11 years old and I love all the old music and I'm glad there are still some people that were alive during those times to tell all the people that think modern music is "the stuff" that the oldies were "the stuff". My grandparents always tell me about the oldies and I love hearing the stories they tell me.
@@mackenziejames6681 It's great to hear that young people today can still appreciate the music us oldies used to listen to and love. Music will create many good memories for you throughout your life and when you are an oldie yourself, you will be able to re-live them when you hear those songs that meant something to you.😄
@@avcdeal thanks
@@tjvanpopta I totally agree, being just a bit older than you. 😄
One of the best voices in rock, part of the '70s soundtrack. Great tunes.
Hi David, yes, i couldn't agree more, exceptional talent. 😄
"rock"? Nope. Soft rock, I'd say and even pop ballad... FM top 40 radio but, nevertheless, good music for sure :)
@@1958marky Sure, that's cool too or easy-listening.
Gostaria de ter notícias . Por onde andam o grupo. Ou David Gats
What a great band no mucking around ....just delivering a melody ....song that really made you feel happy and peace.
All my old songs are coming back into my life. What a beautiful, mellow voice - I'd forgotten!!!!
Hi Lana, music is such a wonderful media for evoking memories, glad you enjoyed it. 😄
I agree Lana. Listen to my song and see if you like it too. I'd be very grateful

In memory of my father ....
it can't be that simple in 2021 ... we are listening to this song as if it were not ... so many years old ....
Hello, 2022, I'm still listening to Bread, perfect key for me sing them. 🎵🎶🎼🎤🎸💰🎱🤑.
Without question one of the best musical acts of the 70's.
Bread were known for numerous hits during the early 70's, however they weren't taken very seriously as they were "too nice and clean".
And yet their hits kept on coming.
Great upload.
Hi, thank you for the comment, i am glad you enjoyed it. 😄
Fantastic, much appreciated upload!! One I have shared and listened to often. The audience in London LOVED them, too.
@@greglaprade7507 hi greg, glad you enjoyed it.😄
That's true!
I love their music, this band was greatly appreciated in many countries, they were huge in Latin America and still are today!
People don't realize that Bread was made up of David Gates and a super-hot band of studio pros who could all play multiple instruments like virtuosos. That's why they can play so well live like this. GREAT band!
Agree
Griffin and Botts both died in 2005. In 2009 Knechtel passed away.
Thanks avc,
Lots of great memories. 1971 I was a high school
sophomore with my fist car (64 Corvair) Back then AM Radio
was filled with Bread's great music . Saturday date night cruising
to these songs. Mother Freedom was also quite a rocker for bread. 🎸😃
Would had loved to see him in concert, love his music and what voice!
Wow, at age 38, David Gates still looks like a teenager! Thank you so much for the songs! I wish there were more singer/songwriters like you today
Unforgivably overlooked and underrated. Great band, great songs
This line up of Bread is versatile and talented, David Gates always manages to surround himself with excellent musicians. nice that this television special of Bread was preserved and release for home entertainment.
This great music helped us get through the war years in Rhodesia.Out in the bush and this music came on,wow memories. Thanks for the memory.
Thank you, glad it stirred up some memories for you.😄
A voice that comes out from dreams...
Bread... what a band! And David... what a great singer/songwriter! Thanks a lot for sharing this gem!! 😀👍👍

Wonderful show. Great drummer. Thank you.
My god, this takes me back to my childhood. I'd never seen them playing all of these songs live, they are bona fine musicians who master their instruments like virtuosos. May their music never fade away.
Hi, thank you for your comment, i totally agree with you. 😄
a man good composer, writer, great love song smiling face, gentleman my favorite love song band since in 1970s!
Thank you for your comment, i am glad you enjoyed it. 😄
Best soft rock group ever!
I don't know much about his pre Bread singles but David Gates gave Saturday's Child to The Monkees and Michael Nesmith did some pre Monkees singles and called himself Michael Blessings!!!
Such a treat watching this.
............Thank-you for the upload.
Glad you enjoyed it 😄
Bread is one of my favovite bands. David Gates and his beautiful songs!💖
I’m so glad that I was born in the mid sixties and got to experience the 70’s
I'm 73 and still Lovin their music. One of the finest
One of those incredible groups to come out of the 70's such an unbelievable body of work!!!
ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME WITHOUT A DOUBT.........NO LIPSYNC HERE JUST THE REAL THING,
Nope sorry it is lip synced.
@@tjvanpopta Please explain background harmonies with no vocal mics and they are not singing. I'm sure Mr Gates is good Just not that good
@@tjvanpopta really that's your comeback?
I never knew it was a tribute to his late Father, To me its changed the meaning of the song in a wonderful way
Thanks for sharing the video 👍
Hi David, glad you enjoyed the video.😄
GOSTARIA DE SABER QUAL MÚSICA É HOMENAGEM AO SEU PAI??
Pure wholesome and meaningful songs from a super talented and decent band of my generation. Miss you guys...
I'm 60 now
.....my teen music then in the 70s.... David Gates and Bread are one of tgev1st records I bought then....his voice and music is worth a million hearts, hugs and memories...thank you David Gates and Bread🥰🥰💞
Bread for my soul. Listen to them everyday.
Fabulous singer and songwriter
Such awesome music. So thankful to these fantastic folks that made our lives so much more livable.
Nice to see bread in concert. That song, just to have you back again, I CAN SURE RELATE TO. I LOST MY FATHER UNEXPECTADLY WHEN i WAS 17.😢 I am 72 now and still I think of how much more I could have learned from him.
The most genuine group of guys EVER ! And those 1000 watt smiles will get you every time!
“Everything I Own” was my mother’s favorite song, and I played and sang the song at her funeral. Thanks David.
Mike Botts was such a great drummer. And Larry Knechtel could play anything...keys, guitar, bass. Amazing.

wow......what a performance....true talent.....Amazing band , Beautiful music ..live......
The distorted guitar in Guitar Man is superb!
Thanks Tim, that is interesting, i will take a look. 😄
Larry was part of THE WRECKING CREW of the late 60s in LA. Played on many hit records
I love his work on "Let Your Love Go", that harpsichord gives me a very good time.
That was actually Dean Parks on lead guitar, Jimmy Griffin had left the group for a second time in 1977.
Rock and roll hall of fame without a doubt. Their music is timeless!!!!!!
I love that tribute to his father. One of my favorite songs.
Their vocals and lyrics are so beautiful...brings back a flood of memories watching this. Tears. Thank you for posting.
Hi Bernadette, glad you enjoyed it, i hope the tears were tears of joy. 😄
