Hi everyone,
New Edit: Upon further evaluation and reading the comments, I have to decided to change the thumbnail and the title back, and more similarly to how it was originally. The latest comments have made a lot of sense to me, and I appreciate and thank you for all of your support.
My intention was to write this song from the POV of MLM. I also wholeheartedly believe in and support lesbian rights. With that being said, let me remind again that this video is simply purposed for making a cover song, and solely for the music. I will not tolerate the non-constructive hate and threats, and please stop sending any such hate to one another too.

ikr! even if you change the gender, the "nothing but his wife" doesn't really work bc it's about women's identities being reduced to their husbands, which doesn't really happen to men, and "deny your feelings" instead of "stop the feeling" works better bc of the whole "men don't have emotions" crap, which makes it more likely that they'd straight-up pretend their attraction doesn't exist, rather than acknowledge it exists and try to stop it.

For all the people bitching in the comments, first of all, it's a MLM version of the song. Second, it's a song. It's art. Art. As in the literal form of expression with maleable interpretation and capacity to be relatable to anyone who desires to relate to it. I could listen to Heather by Conan Gray with absolutely no desire to be a girl like Heather, absolutely no interest in a guy in love with a Heather, and absolutely no interest in a lesbian or bisexual girl interested in a Heather, and I'd still be able to relate to the core themes of the song on pure feeling alone. Lastly, the original song unchanged is already a pretty good, if not perfect, version for a guy to sing and relate to on any level, so he has done nothing and literally has to do nothing to try to claim the song for men or whatever it is you want to call it. It's insane to me how a members of a community that has fought so hard and long for inclusion are trying to claim a piece of art as unrelatable to anyone else. You can't demand alliance from others if you refuse to see beyond your bubble and be allies to anyone else. So ignore the haters, Zach. in finding out you're a lesbian, there's two steps. realizing you like women, and realizing you're not attracted to men.

Now the way in which it operates has been observed to be different. The way it's enforced in men is commonly acts of physical violence against men who don't conform, but it's the same thing.

I took some music theory classes before and did have to write lyrics for an original song as part of the coursework. So Ill say this, writing lyrics goes differently. And you managed to change the lyrics and yet it flows as well as the original along with the instrumental!
Additionally, I love the lyric changes! Its not just pronouns and in my view, highlights more of the toxic masculinity men go through, especially those in the closet.
