@@sagesavage8114The original song isn't biphobic. Chappell wrote it about herself. It's based on her experience and how she came out. She dated a man (almost married him) before coming out as lesbian. She's the "when you wake up next to him in the middle of the night with your head in your hands you're nothing more than his wife!" girl. That whole verse is her basically talking to herself.
@Sturniolo22 she can be talking about herself and still have biphobia present lol in fact knowing she's apparently talking about herself (which is kinda weird with the constant "dedication to my ex" thing) just kinda makes how it comes off worse. She has this "every queer woman is comphet" air about her and has a tendency to be quite mean in general so yeah even if it actually is about her coming out, it doesn't really change my feelings considering lyrics of other songs I've heard and how I've seen her engage in interviews thus far.
@@Sturniolo22 in case you didn't know, lesbians can be some of the most biphobic queer people. I have encountered it myself a LOT. It doesn't make her lyrics sound any less bitter. She paints it as if she's angry a woman she wanted chose a man over her. We call that "biphobia". It really doesn't matter if it's actually about her, how she painted it says a lot and none of it is very nice. She's also called people "freaks" unnecessarily on plenty of occasions just for liking things she doesn't. If she can do that, she can DEFINITELY be biphobic.

omg im so glad i found this!!! this is truly so, so beautiful and your voice is gorgeous! this might get a little rambly but i think this is the perfect time to say all this out loud 😭😭this version resonates so much to me because im almost 16 and i dated a girl online for almost an year and im also muslim, raised in a very religious house and country so it was just really diffcult for me to navigate that as a girl dating another girl and its definitely part of the reason it didnt work out and my ex added good luck babe to like a pre-break up playlist (making playlists for eachother was our thing so she knew id see it) and it really like hurt me and soured my perception of the song and chappell in general bc now she was just someone connected to that whole thing but i heard this and i feel so seen idk i just really loved that it shows how much the other girl might be hurting too and WHY she did what she did and i see myself in that bc the main reason our relationship ended was bc i was scared and guilty and yeah religion and societal judgement and fear really was the root of everything and i couldnt deal with it any longer even if i loved her. i knew i wasnt giving her what i should but instead of voicing my feelings i just avoided her and yeah she claims to have fallen out of love and i still cant make sense of how i feel about the whole situation. at the end of the day its just a really shitty and hurtful situation for both people i think. and she found someone new after a month so 😃like yes its a good thing that it ended because neither of us could give the other what we both deserved but it doesnt change the fact that even after nearly 3 months of the breakup, it still hurts and ill never get back what i had with her because idt ill ever be able to be openly queer and coexist with my religion
anyway, sorry for that! i got a little carried away 😭
