I absolutely adore this! Your character is so well rounded! While a lot of “from the other person’s perspective” - versions tend to fall into an antagonist trap, “it’s actually your fault, I’m not to blame”, your version of “good luck babe” paints a nuanced picture of a flawed human being, who admits she has messed up, as well as having a lot of sympathetic traits and has understandable thoughts and emotions

This is making me think how this song could also work as a duet similar to "Somebody I Used to Know", so you get the 2 different perspectives of the couple
omg yes!! i was literally thinking about that song yesterday. it’s like the og “from the other pov”
@iambrielleanderson for real. Whenever you sang "good luck, babe" I imagined the other person saying the background "well good luck!" in response, like it's an back & forth argument 😭 ahhhh
Also, forgot to say, loved your cover ^^
@@iambrielleanderson lolol another og other pov song would be "Don't You Want Me" by the Human League (but the cover version by the Bahamas and the Weather Station is my fave)
lmao also the Pina Colada Song too... and I guess half of the Secret Life of Walter Mitty soundtrack
@@iambrielleanderson Chappell should feature you on a duet remix fr.
the lower key and everything gives me GOOSEBUMPS
@@summer_serranose thank you 🫶🫶
It’s not in a lower key.
Just taken an octave down ❤
ohhh okay, thanks for the correction!
Even with broke headphones I still got shivers from this cover. I love the changes in the lyrics. It adds so much to the narrative
@@PinkyDoggy thank you so much ❤️
Chappell Roan needs to see this!
@@coldramen896 omg i think i’d die if she did 😭❤️
Ive seen other versions of this but this takes the cake! The voice, the vibes, the lyric changes, everything is PERFECT
I love how in the original, the other girl seems to not take the relationship seriously at all but in this version, it feels like she does, true miscommunication
thank you so much!! the bridge of the original made me think that she actually was in love, so i wanted to explore the internal conflict that would make her give all that up. i’m so glad that you enjoyed it ❤️
this is so sad because it could read as someone who was scared to be open about the relationship because of criticism, and they just failed to communicate their needs
@@mjg8058 it really is. i feel like there are few things that are as painful as hurting the person that you love. it’s like knowing that you are pushing away the love of your life, but doing it anyways because of fear :(
"you just need a little air" sounded so nice 😌
@@potatoking8644 thank you!!
Kind of random but I love that the chorus is an octave lower I feel like it gives that helpless, melancholic vibe, love it!!
thank you so much ❤️❤️
I need a duet of you and Chappell with both versions combined 😭
@@heybella2867 omg that would be so cool!!
As someone that fights with internalized homophobia, I feel a lot of "I'm faking it" feelings all the time. And even though I know I only like girls I still feel the need to just have male validation since that's how people taught me I should be. I really got chills from this
Your voice is like water 😭the atmosphere completes it...Well done
why is this the best compliment 😭❤️
@@iambrielleanderson Oh. It’s not a compliment…its a fact 😙

I fully got goosebumps this is incredible and deserves way more recognition

The reverb, the somber face, filming in a bathtub, this was amazing
@@me0101001000 thank you ❤️❤️
I was nervous coming into this because I'm used to these other pov covers being vengeful and petty but this is genuinely a really nice parallel to the original and its story, and you have a gorgeous voice!!
@@fish871 thank you so much ❤️ i really didn’t want to invalidate the original version because so many people related to it. relationships like this aren’t black and white and two things can be true at once
I already loved the original but this is next level, made me really think deep into the emotions behind the song and your voice added that authentic touch to the message behind the song. Love it❤
@@aarushisudhakar2573 thank you so much for your kind comment ❤️ i put a lot of thought into the lyrics so it came across!!
Hearing this version was so healing for me. I’m now in a healthy, beautiful relationship with the sweetest girl I’ve ever met. But this song brought me back to a time when I was younger and felt this internal struggle tearing me apart. I experienced these things for so long and felt so alone in those moments. I’m thankful for the growth I’ve had since then to finally be myself. Thanks for this version. Much needed💗
@@Frankiesaur i’m so glad that you enjoyed it! it’s been amazing to hear so many stories and to see how many people resonate with this side of the story. thank you so much for you kind comment ❤️
I could go on and on for hours about the lyrical genius behind this rendition, but i just want to draw attention to how subtle but impactful your expressions are throughout this song, i literally rewatched this a dozen times just appreciating the nuances you put into this 🖤
This might be the ONLY "response/cover" song I've heard that didn't make me cringe. This was hauntingly beautiful ❤ You're so talented.

To be totally honest, the first time I listened to this, I didn't love it. But it was stuck in my head and I gave it another listen and now I've sat here and watched it at least a half dozen times. It's beautifully done. Thanks to UA-cam for suggesting this!

I also adore how this is a key/octave(?) down or just a harmony bc it really sounds like a duet when I sing over it in the original notes
@@_rat_5758 omg i didn’t even think about the fact that it could work as a duet! i really hope someone does that now… thank you so much for your kind comment ❤️
Turning “I hate to say it” into “I hate myself” is DEVASTATING. Fantastic job
The original one is totally Celia st. James singing to Evelyn and this version is so Evelyn Hugo! I'm crying, memories came back! You sang great as always

thank you so much!
@@randomrise1st72 thank you so much!! i’m so glad you enjoyed it ❤️ i really wanted to make sure i didn’t discredit the original, so i’m glad that it came across
