I've been cancer free for a while now but I never got a chance to say thank you for keeping my laugh alive during my 2 year treatment
That's awesome!!! Hope you enjoy all the little things in life!
God Bless you friend! Eff cancer!
You Are Welcome 👍🏼
Hello! My mom was recently diagnosed with cancer and I'd love to hear a success story (if its ok with you). Ive been anxious since the diagnosis and my social media has been pumping my feed with a lot of badly ending cancer stories, Id love a positive ending cancer story for a change...
They’re currently helping me work through the end of my marriage, happy to have em. Congrats on being CA free😊
Anyone else concerned about James's water intake?
Very much so
Nah he is fueled by kombucha and soft drink
I was actually just kinda wondering how often he needs a piss?
I don’t care about James but I hope Maso is fully hydrated
Not a day gods by I don't worry about that thirsty man
I Sure hope Mr.Sunday is staying hydrated.
X-Men 97 is incredible. The way they managed to recapture the magic of the original series but also improve on it is truly commendable. Also Cyclops' little line about "black leather", just *chefs kiss*
rogue and magneto is creepy vibes. she's 20 he's 60. nah
@@hudsonclarkkidk if that's creepy. Weird, but creepy? Nah.
@@hudsonclarkkgrow up
THIS PLANET SURE IS WEEKLY
I'm worried, he sounds so dehydrated
But then we heard that pull tab noise. Now we can relax about it
Hopefully his need to pee doesn’t cause additional damage, I’m worried
please do a podcast on those deals that went nowhere because I think a lot of people would be completely shocked at just how common it was like 2-5 years ago
Since there's a clone of Jean Grey Scott has a pair of JEANS!!!!!!!
Ugh... nice
One could say they are the same GENES!
I like how half of their jokes at this point are just them saying movie names while having a stroke.
Perhaps the real X-Men were the Blue Harvest we made along the way which was also the working title for the movie "Joker"
West World
Rodney!!!
I've been waiting for this episode (patiently!) since the premiere of X-Men '97 (1997). It's incredible that it took you blokes 25 years to get around to it. Ridiculous
Imagine if you had time stop powers
@@lyndsaybrown8471 Im using it to dehydrate James
The vibes for this episode remind me of old hungover James and Mason episodes and I love it
Dude where's my Gollum
I really wanna know what Beau demayo did to get fired. If it wasn't something terrible, they need to bring him back because x men 97 is the best thing marvel has done in a while
Unless he's some kind if pedo, Disney are fools not to keep him at this point.
He’s been very vocally supportive of the show, so it doesn’t seem like it was something too bad. There were some rumours of a OnlyFans account and maybe that wasn’t allowed contractually, but that’s still a rumour at best at this point.
I would need to find actual sources, but the rumors are that he was creatively hellbent for power like James Cameron and insisted on credit for some things he didn’t create 🤷♂️- “difficult to work with” is slung around a lot often without merit; but it’s unclear how true that applies to Demayo
Oh YEAAHHHH getting me through my shift once again 🎉
God, right off the bat with the total professionalism. Two pro’s showing ‘em how it’s done. Every word a delight.
I know people love First Class and Logan, but I think the X-Men were truly screwed over by Fox for decades and I'm so glad new life has been breathed into the IP by this show.
yeah i think logan is a great film but it’s not an xmen movie, it’s a conclusion to a universe that is a complete mess and xmen in name only. those films did not deserve logan lol it makes the film itself have less meaning and impact
You forgot X-Men,X2, wolverine, days of future past, legion and the gifted. Fox had some screw ups, but they had more than just 2 good films.
@@armandperez711the X-Men in comics have been a mess in terms of continuity and lore. So the movies really captured that aspect.😂😂
@@mttylerdurden9 that can be said about literally every legacy comic character ever lol what are u talking about. the problem wasn’t just continuity, the issue was terrible characterization and filmmakers that were ashamed of the source material they were adapting
@@armandperez711 sure there were characters that were shafted, but there were still plenty of good movies that captured the heart of the X-Men. In my opinion at least.
That "funny stuff" was legitimately one of the funniest things I've ever heard
Best. Monday. Ever.
I’m really excited about Megalopolis even though I’m pretty sure it’ll suck. It’s the biggest, wildest, weirdest swing a director has ever taken, and looks to be the first of its kind, maybe, since Metropolis in the 1920s. Maybe not. Whatever it is, it’s something big and weird and I’m here for it.
It’s not even the biggest, weirdest, wildest swing Coppola has ever taken. You’re right that it’s pretty certainly gonna suck though.
@@MrOtistetraxYeah, can you imagine thinking that about this film? Jodorowsky, Lynch, and Cronenberg exist, folks.
Between “House of the Dragon”
and “Rings of Power”, … I want ANDOR
Coming late this year or early next year, apparently!
I appreciated the balancing act of retaining a goofy tone while, at the same time, including scenes that carry some serious weight. The Genosha genocide hits so hard considering recent world events - even though the show was written pre-October 7, it feels incredibly topical.
Magneto telling the young Leach "Do not be afraid" in German was *chef's kiss* and what more is there to say about that final line to E5? "I can't *feel* you"
Well, I sure felt it.
inside of you with Micheal rosebaum from Smallville is a great podcast ,he interviews actors and talk about movies, the process an actor will take , mental health struggles, and alot more it's really good its one of the few podcasts I like 👍
Welcome back everybody
Need an actor to finish your decades long passion project? Call Adam Driver!
I heard on some QI episode that needing to piss causes better decision making. I think this episode disproves this.
I like that we saw Peter Parker and MJ. At the end of the Spider-Man show, MJ was lost and it was never resolved. It's not a lot of information, but at least we see that he found her and she is okay.
I think Donald Glover had a massive shift in his personality and life in general around 2018-2020, his kid grew up, his dad died, pandemic happened. Crazy to hear you guys talk about him!
These guys are so relatable! I, too, piss
It's the mates!!!!
Oh joyous day
Mr. Sunday, I don't usually comment, but I am always worried about how hydrated you are. Today was the tipping point.i have to say something. You let yourself get so dehydrated you had to crack open a cold one during the INTRO.
You HAVE to start hydrating more
It’s really sad to hear that James is struggling with severe dehydration issues. I hope he knows we are all here for him and wish for him to recover soon.
The "Xavier in Space" thing was shown in the VERY last episode of the original series
It genuinely confused me, though, because even the X-Men IN PRIVATE would talk as if Xavier was dead so I was like "Did they retcon this???" until they revealed him in space again
Yeah, could have done with a little "recap" of the key events at the start of the series maybe?
To me, it seemed like Charles was in space for several years and didn't contact the X-Men. I really disliked that. I wish they would have dropped the whole Shi'ar thing. It made everybody look bad. Apart from that the show was awesome.
@@GothamClive If he had been in space "for several years" that would mean that Magneto didn't find out that he was Charles' chosen successor for all that time, which seems pretty unlikely.
I suspect it's a year or so at most, as anything much longer doesn't make sense.
@@EdinburghPokemon You're right. In the beginning, a newsman says "last year". For some reason, I mixed something up. He still could have given them a call a little bit sooner.
In private, the X-Men NEVER say Charles is dead! They receive the death certificate in episode 1, which is a hard reminder that Charles is gone, maybe for good, and they miss him, and Scott has to hold the fort. We see "Xavier dead" on the news on TV, and the last will, because Charles probably won't come back, and he had a secret plan with Magnus to make him leader of Genosha.
Everything felt like a dead Charlie, but they never say he's dead. They just miss him.
Btw it hasn't been years, it's 97 lol. The time passed between seasons was just enough weeks to get a death certificate.
Ah yes, my absolute favorite song from Wicked, "Flying Gravity"
When the reviewer talks about resolving the Spider-Man Cartoon series he is talking about how you briefly see in the last episode Peter Parker with Mary Jane by his side so everyone is assuming that Peter Parker does find Mary Jane and they end up together.
Adam Driver yelling "Time stop!" is just more proof that things sound better when you don't understand the language. DIO in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure does basically the same thing but it's the coolest thing ever because it's in Japanese.
That was a lot of work to convince us it wasn't a beer. :)
3:15 Don’t call me pal, guy!
If already exists, it literally stole its entire premise from the kids show Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends
Its been another sleepless 3 days so this is a nice relief
Funny stuff.
Shout out to Hoyts Chadstone for filming every movie 🍿
He got Zamboni’ed!?! 😂😂😂😭😭
There is a small cameo in the finale that shows 90’s Peter and Mary Jane, showing that he found her after it was cancelled!
Coppola seemingly independently re-invented Dio’s time stop power from JoJo’s, and I don’t know if the image of Dio yelling “Time Stop!” or the image of Adam Driver yelling “The World!” is funnier
ZA WARUDO
I'm just imagining Kylo Ren destroying that one room and then saying "Time begins to move again" surrounded by confused stormtroopers
Nah Francis is a big anime fan.
One of the best shows of the year
“The big opossum that taunts my family” oh right, they’re Australian!
Been waitingg
Nicholas Cage's middle name is Kim. I just learned that today.
Nicolas Kim Coppola is his real name. Weird right?
@@Elfenlied8675309 I see why he chose the name change. Still love that he got Cage from Luke Cage.
Maso, please be the best man at my wedding
But I was hoping he’d be the best man at my divorce.
He's the best man at any event he attends. He's just so hydrated.
I’ve been waiting to hear what you guys think, I think it’s one of marvels best works ever
As far as I know the DOOM book is a one-shot. Also funny that people don't know Sanford Greene because he's local to me and he does a few signinings and a FCBD appearance at my shop every year. I think his most notable work is his luke cage and iron fist stuff?
1:29:24 I'd bet $4k he was thinking of Finn Wolfhard when he said this.
Had you watched the original X-Men series you would have known he was alive the whole time
Idk if they bring back Gambit as a Death/Horseman, that they'll do the same as they did with Scarlett Witch and Vision in which they would have that character killed twice.
Not sure of the comic continuity or if there is any inspiration drawn from there, but wonder how that would play into Rogue's arc. We see aside from the romance with Magnet, a number of the X-Men join him and look down on Charles
Unhinged James is best James.
The only reason I can fathom why they havent cancelled Agatha, beyond wanting to cash in on wandavision again, is that maybe the coven of witches can allude us to Dr. Dooms origin.
32:04 the midnight cowboy🤠
I also said the same thing about Madalyn Pryor's name. It was plucked from thin air, even though they set up what could have been the perfect reason for it.
1:24:00 Unfortunately, that test would backfire - to be Spider-Man, she needs that "oh no, I could've saved a loved one but I failed to do it" moment, and it really seems like you're setting her up for it.
Mason shouting out comedy bang bang is odd cause im listening to that next! I was do weekly planet then CBB
Have you guys watched Cosmopolis?
I think it's an underated film.
Perhaps you could do a Metropolis, Cosmopolis, Megalopolis caravan some day.
Finally 🎉
36:56 That's how people get these CGI monstrosity. "We'll do it in post" 😂
"Megapolis" reminds me of the horribly-received "Sky Captain and the world of tomorrow" starring Jude Law, Angelie Jolie, and Gwyneth Paltrow.
When I was a kid, I loved that movie to bits. I remember essentially nothing about it.
One of the biggest things that kept throwing me off with 97 was the shading was all over the place. It would cut from a well shaded scene to one where not even the mouths are shaded with any depth and everything is just flat and it looks like I'm watching stickers move around. The only other thing I didn't enjoy was the machine gun pacing, they would burn through entire arcs in like 5 minutes flat though it's also kinda a weird achievement cause they fit like 30+ stories into a single season and that's gotta be some kinda record for compact storytelling
Forge's chin shading, am I right?
Anyone else pause and google for the Clarice series?
Do you think the reason they don't show the songs in all those Musical movies (Wonka, Mean Girls, etc.) is because they have to pay royalties for those trailers then?
I'm sure I'm in the minority in this, but I'm not particularly interested in seeing Donnie Yen's John Wick character in his own movie. I'd heard a lot of good things about him before I watched John Wick 4, but during the movie I was just kinda underwhelmed.
That said, that was an already very action packed movie, maybe they can do more interesting things with "blind badass" in a dedicated movie.
Me: xmen 97 dialogue is so good I can't wait for the boys the talk about it.
The boys almost immediately: the dialogue was so bad
Took forever!
dear Mr Mason, to help alleviate your confusion on the T'Challa and T'Chaka situation. it was already established that T'Chaka was the black panther in this time period in the original series where T'Chaka appeared in the season 4 story sanctuary as a non-speaking cameo.
New Weekly Planet comic/webtoon idea....Fish Finnigan and his nemesis, the dastardly Mooper Mole.
Think on it gents.
I had no idea 'IF' was just Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends but dour.
Dour, but yes it seems that's it.
samari cop was hilarious and everyone should see it in America its on paramount plus 😅
BLOOD OF ZEUS SEASON 2 IS KILLING IT RIGHT NOW.
I've only just started watching xmen 97 but i'm hoping that the success the continuation has had mean they'll look to other unfinished shows like Spectacular Spiderman and Avengers EMH. They both need a 3rd season.
I completely agree with Maso on that goblin queen/madelyne pryor bit 🤦🏽♂️
Everyone should watch the final episode of the original X-Men Animated Series. It bridges the 2 series together really well.
If you seen one-Ka , you seen them all.
Just about to get on an hour and a half train so this is perfect!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed xmen 97, but there were a few power uses that made me go “thats not how it should work”. Namely cyclops pushing himself around with his optic blasts. Theres absolutely no recoil, or his neck would snap. A lot of the fights were awesome, and made me think thats how i would play with toys if i had them. But a bit too crazy sometimes
Time Stop you say? Wonder if Coppola is a Kingdom Hearts fan.
Francis Ford Megaloppola
Mr. and Mrs. Smith the movie was about a couple that didn’t know they were in competing spy/assassin organizations and used their spouse as just a cover until a final showdown when they realized they actually did love each other. The show is just about spy couples and not connected to its namesake. Donald Glover just wrote a show where he gets to be cool and star with an attractive woman. Just like Atlanta.
I think they said in an interview or bts that Morph can take on the physical powers, but not things like shoot lasers and energy
Was anyone else annoyed with Morph's nebulous cameo powers. Do you need to turn into mr. Fantastic to stretch or spiral to have more arms? Shapeshifting seems like an espionage power.
I love how y'all found the idea of a 1,000 year Dune prequel to be laughable, when its actually 10,000 years. haha
what do yall think of Alf?
It was Mephisto all along!
A moment of silence for James’ nans
You guys not knowing how Donald Glover trolls in interviews says a lot. 😂
I found the intro dehydrating. So I opened a Bevy. X-Men 97 is amazing!
Mehalopolis looks like an incredible disaster.
These two were born in the wrong era. That transatlantic radio play of Tomb Raider would've killed during the Alfred Deakin administration. Bank that one for the 2024 rewind episode.
Madelyne's original name is actually the Corn of Coblin Queen.
I had to google what both saccharine and dour meant
They're good words!
Ozempic is actually a negative-calorie
James what's 'Crella'?
I have a question. If this was live action, shot for shot with the same dialogue, would it have gotten the same reception?
Almost certainly not. People are nostaligic for the cartoon series. Also, animation has its own look and people can appreciate its style. It's a bit like people saying that The Simpsons could be live action. No it couldn't.
Animation and live action work completely differently.
Don't give them any ideas
We had a dozen Disney live action remakes that suggest the answer would be “no”. :)
