Your facial expressions during the video just screamed, "How much longer do I have to listen to this?" 😂
She’s gonna buy it on MP3. So she can listen to it on her phone, while taking Chewie outside
Ya I dunno what you’re talking about! It’s my new fave 🤭
They had a hit in the 90’s called Pepper.
@@DianeJennings check out “Pepper” by them, it’s a bit easier to listen to. Or “Dracula from Houston” I do like it a lot more!! 😎 ✌🏻
The Butthole Surfers came before the Red Bull commercials.
The Butthole Surfers spent time living in Winterville, a tiny town outside of Athens, Ga., next to a friend's grandparents. . His grandpa said despite the name & the "music" they heard, they were really nice people, gave them vegetables from the garden, & taught them to cook eggplant. He was a traditional, religious man who had to shake his head every time he said the band's name.
The lead singer's father was the host of a children's TV Show called Peppermint Place that aired here in Texas for over 30 years.
As I recall, Matt Groening (who also created The Simpsons, hence the brief appearance of Bart at the beginning) was the animation artist for this video.
Groening's favorite album is Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica which makes the Surfers look like Taylor Swift.
He's really into the weird stuff...
Oh really?!
That look of disdain is perfect.
😂😂😂
How you just sit there during this is something I cannot understand. This rocks.
I saw this band in 1988. The lead singer used a megaphone for much of the performance, and the strobe lights were like a member of the band. Very interesting experience. But I couldn't tell you one of their songs!
The lead singer of Butthole Surfers sang a song for another group called Ministry. The song is "Jesus Built My Hotrod". It rocks and I know you'll love it. so please give it a listen🙂
Such a good jam
I was just thinking, if she doesn't like this. She might not be into "Ministry".
She would probably like early 80s synth/pop Ministry but anything post 1988 I highly doubt she would like. I can't recall a band making a more diametrically opposed transition.
Nah, just go straight to "Burning Inside".
Gibby was also a member of Jorgensen's side project, the Revolting Cocks. Check out their cover of Do Ya Think I'm Sexy? It's hilarious
Their live shows in the eighties were insane. Rock and roll legends.
Reminds me of Gwar
I saw them at the Channel in Boston sometime in the late 80’s
@@seanhughes2815 I’m sure I was there. Never missed them in Boston. Did the Zulus open that night?
@@Hartlor_Tayley I don’t really remember, it may have been
Daddy?
Yes, son.
What does regret mean?
Well son, the funny thing about regret is that it's better to regret
Something you have done than
To Regret something that you haven't done
And by the way, If you see your mom this weekend, will you be sure and
Tell her...
SATAN SATAN SATAN!!!!
😂😂😂
I used to say this all the time!!!
Best intro to a song
@@akaArria me too, classic lyrics!
After some research, I learned that "butt hole surfing" is an activity that involves riding an inflated tire inner tube along an irrigation ditch while being pulled by a vehicle. I imagine some alcohol consumption is involved. Their song "Pepper" is a masterpiece, both musically and the video.
Butthole Surfers played a song in "Lost Boys" while Keifer's vamps were destroying partiers around a bonfire at night. 🌙🎵🔥
Wasn't that walk this way by Areo smith?
I just looked and it was Aerosmith
@@akaArria Watch the movie with subtitles: it shows band name & song title in (🎵) ;Don't trust Googley info, Wickedpedia, etc... Some info true, some def not, ;butt who knows?🤔
BS is one of my favorite bands growing up, I know who they are. I just watched the clip *you said* where they were slaughtered by the vampires around the bonfire. The music was Aerosmith, and one of the characters was even singing along to it. Maybe B S are in there, but not that scene.

4:34 Diane looks at us as if to say “I hope you’re proud of suggesting this band”
If I remember correctly, the band's name was inspired by a heckle that was shouted at them during one of their early shows.
So does the name mean they are buttholes (jerks) who also surf, or does the name claim they surf around anuses?
Ironically Beavis and Butthead reside in the fictional town of Highland Texas.
Yes Mike Judge lived in the Dallas area...
you thought they were taking the piss, and that feeling was validated
Accurate 😂
@@DianeJenningsthey were definitely trolling you
I love Diane's face throughout the song
My favorite band since I graduated high school in 1984!
Me and two friends went to the two shows they shot for their only official live concert tape, Blind Eye Sees All, in Detroit that winter and are in one shot in the front row.
I have some really good BHS stories.
Seen them more than any other band. :)
Another song from the Butthole Surfers - Pepper that one played on radio and MTV a lot.
A lot of folks mentioning that one oops
@@DianeJennings This song You reacted to was also on radio and MTV. I think these are the Bands only two songs that made the band famous.
@@rickeycarey4556 Didn't Gibby Haynes sing on Jesus Built my Hotrod by Ministry?
Pepper is phenomenal.
This song she listened to......not so much.
lol
Yeah, Pepper is more accessible. Probably the best entryway for a normie.
This song was definitely jumping into the deep end of the Butthole Surfer’s pool🤣. A more sensible song to start with would’ve been “Pepper”
I saw them on the tour in '88 (or maybe it was '89). It's easily one of the best shows I've ever seen.
Hi Diane! This definitely puts the Weird in Weird Wednesday. I kinda like their song "Pepper" though. Have a great day! Boop!
That one does seem popular judging by the comments. Have a great day!
Yes! I was trying to remember Pepper, I listened to it a lot back in the day! Hadn't heard anything else from them till now.
Yay, a band from my hometown! I knew they wouldn't be your cup of tea, but it was still great seeing your reaction 😂
Man, I loved going to their shows. Absolute kings of absurdity, and a legitimate assault on all your senses. Some of the best, insane live shows I’ve ever seen. So much fun!
Your facial expression said everything that I was thinking. I still appreciate the music journey. Thanks, Diane.
Thanks for reacting to it Diane!
No problem 😊
The movie The Chase(1994) with Charlie Sheen and Kristy Swanson(Also known as Buffy the Vampire Slayer[1992]) Also Has Flea and Anthony Kiedis from The Band Red Hot Chili peppers in it acting roles in the movie.
Diane, I completely AGREE with your EXPRESSION while listening to this. Oh My God. Just... Wow.
Hi Diane, I was wondering if you have ever heard of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald? It is sung by a canadian Gordon Lightfoot. It's a very powerful song that tells a story of a ship that sunk in the great lakes. Something totally different and a little history of the great lakes.
Oh that is a very good song.
One of my fav bands! I admire that you gave it a listen even though it's not your thing, brave. Love the echo on your voice D.
Yay another react video. Thanks again for the video. I love it when you react to the punk rock music.
Glad you like them!
It just made my day to see you react to a band from my area. 🎉
I mean until they bite the head off a live bat onstage they still don’t have Ozzy beat.
It should be noted that Ozzy thought I was one of the rubber bats they used in the show and didn’t know it was a real live bat that was just stunned. He had to get rabies shots after.
Í’d dance to it in a dive bar not knowing of the video or really hearing the words .
😂😂😂
I’ve never heard this song before. The only one I know by this band is the song called pepper. Which was such a part of my high school in college experience lol
Oh! Yes, I’m only a couple of comments in and one has been suggested a lot
The band was founded in Drippings Springs, a town just West of Austin, TexAss, your favorite U.S. city
What, and I can't stress this part enough, in the blue hell was that????? 😱😱😱x
😂😂😂
I enjoyed learning about the Band with You today. Sounds like they were wild on stage from all the the items they had on stage.
Great song, Child of the 80s. The artwork is incredible. Love 90s music.
She's finally watched them! Yay 😁 Rock on Diane! Yay 😁 I'm so happy you've finally checked them 🐱
Me then: Who Was In My Room Last Night?
Me now: Get off my lawn!
I loved her face of rejection, it was beautiful, i miss those days when old ladys (aunts and grand mothers) use to be shocked about music
Gibby Haynes is the lead singer. His dad was Jerry Haynes. He was Mr Peppermint on Dallas / Ft Worth TV back in the 60's and 70's. Sort of the local Mr Rogers.
The Butthole Surfers were more intense in the 1980's. They mellowed a bit with age, reaching peak popularity in the mid-90's due to the post-Nirvana alternative rock feeding frenzy. This and "Pepper" were their only "hits".
Still hoping you do a reaction to Flogging Molly someday!! They’re so unique! Punk Rock-ish but also soulful with tin whistle and banjo, and accordion! They’re amazing!
They are also pretty damn good live.
@@CommissarMoody1 Absolutely! Seen them 3 times! Wish it were more. Lol
Well, that was certainly worth the early Patreon release. 😵💫 Your mom face said it all. 😂 Only slightly less disgust than just before you sample a vegetable. Also loved whenever you made your “Seriously?” eye contact with us. And “I dunno, maybe there are have other songs in their repertoire that I might like.” Diane…(inserting “Seriously?” eye contact here)…as much as I love your generous and open-minded heart….
But still always a warm and fuzzy whenever I see one of your videos post. 🥳
Oh you caught that huh? 🤭
Good Job...I love this song
Once upon a time I was friendly with these boys back when we all were preppy boys right out of college. Their music went in a place I wasn’t interested in but they were nice and smart guys actually.
I hadn't seen that video in decades! It was on Beavis and Butthead, and I really liked it. I especially liked when the bartender mixed a drink with skulls and crossbones coming out of it, and the weird hairdos that the guy and his "girlfriend" sported.
Thanks for the video 👍🏻
The director William Stobaugh is also famous for his direction of “Mother’s Milk,” a music video of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which won a gold compact disc, cassette and album. You might have noticed Flea was the barman.
I love that you educate yourself. I love these. If we were friends, I could give you the details.😂😂💗
Wow, I completely forgot about this band! I did like Pepper, though, it was in heavy rotationback in the day. I'm gonna have to go look that song up and listen to it again. Thanks, Diane!
WOW, I have never seen you look so unhappy during a video.
To be honest, that was not my cup of tea either.
You should probably go hug Chewie for a bit after this. Give him a hug for me too.
"Who Was in My Room Last Night?" is actually one of their more accessible to a general audience songs. It only gets weirder from there. It does help, though, if you take LSD before listening. Which I have never done.
Butthole 🏄♀️ Surfers saw this notification and couldn't click on fast enough. Saw them in Corpus Christi TX, my hometown, with The Toadies , needless to say, it was a phenomenal experience....
I wasn't near a mirror, but I am pretty sure my facial expressions matched Diane's during this video.
Oh wow! Twins 👯♀️
From my hometown. Saw them several times in the early 80s.
Oh Diane! You totally should do "Pepper"!!!! Same band. Different sound, GROOVY tunes.
Not a huge Butthole Surfers fan, but I do really like this song. If you don't like this I'm sure whether you could handle Ministry's "Jesus Built my Hot Rod," but if you're feeling brave this singer got backout drunk and mumbled one of the most unique performances of the early 90s.
Also, didn't see anyone else mention that the bartender in the beginning of the video is Flea from RHCP.
Hello again great content on music videos
Glad you like them!
Mtv's Beavis and Butthead Tv Show had this song in the music videos portion of the tv show. Of course, they are teenagers so it's in the demographic audience.
Need to listen to their 80’s stuff too
Thanks Diane! Your reaction to this song was the same as mine. Pretty sure that if I ever heard of this band before, I would remember...lol. Well, I guess I was exposed to something new today. Sometimes it's good to know what you don't like as much as what you do. 😼
That’s a very astute observation 🧠
Go listen to 'Pepper' and 'Shame Of Life'.
Much MUCH MUCH better, and RADICALLY different songs from whatever this was that she listened to.
lol
You would recognise Pepper.
lol! Who on Earth got you to react to these? I mean I love them, I saw them in Vicar Street in 2008 and I been a fan since the late 80's but still, I am surprised to find this here!
Yeah, I don't know who recommended this to you, but reserve opinion till you hear Pepper. Bands evolve over time. I mean, I heard this first, but. I was in the right place, at the right time, for it. Big fan
Awesome song, awesome band!
She's like, "those cartoons are so good.... oh dear"
Such a great tune
I hope you and Chewie are having a good day. It would cool to see Diane listens to Barney
I had never heard of them before. Closing my eyes definitely improved the experience since the song actually rocked. I'd like to see you react to the band Queensryche. "Silent Lucidity" is probably their biggest hit, although it isn't representative of their typical sound, but you'd probably like it. Also, check out their song "Take Hold of the Flame" live in Tokyo, and you'll be impressed.
Metal. LSD. Madness. Meaning without Meaning. That is the Butthole Surfers!
They are famous for performing on LSD. They have one song called Pepper. I bet you would like it. My favorite song is Lady Sniff.
That band originated from San Antonio Texas. They were Trinity University students that started playing locally but began big along with the circle jerks. It's the US version of Punk from that era. You had have been there.😊
Diane, you have got to check out this music piece that Alissa White-Gluz released almost two months ago. It is called A Song to Save Us All and the subject is on animal cruelty and exploitation, but the message behind the song is incredibly beautiful.
This music video was made in 1993, and Red Bull’s first commercials aired in 1997.
5:27 yes, that’s a great description of this band, they’re all about pushing the buttons
Been a HUGE fan of BHS since literally 1984.
They're stated goal for many years at live shows was to get as many people to show up tripping acid then generate as many bad trips as they could.
Awesome band!! :)
LOL
You're a good sport Diane. Willing to try anything for us.
Diane, Did You know? Bass Guitarist Flea(Michael Peter Balzary) from Red Hot Chili Peppers Band is in the Music Video as the Bar Tender in the Bar.
No waaaay
@@DianeJennings Yep Fleas been in so many movies. He has also played guitar with Slash from the Band Guns N Roses
@@DianeJennings Beavis and Butthead did indeed react to this video and noticed Flea immediately, "Look It's Flea! Flea!"
The look of complete and total admiration is so cute! LOL 😂😂 Cheers Diane!💚 For ear bleach, please allow me to suggest The Tragically Hip or The Band.
You really put the REACT into this music reaction 🤣
Hehe I tried!
Outside of the song Pepper suggested by others, I'd recommend 'Here in Your Bedroom' as a song a little more easy going on your ears. Your expressions to this song were priceless though!🤣
The 90s Bands Definitely Had some interesting music videos. This is one of the videos that appealed to a male audience in the Teens to 30s demographic.
They're an early 80's band that lasted into the 90's.
I'm a female and I was far from the only one who liked them
It's funny that Diane is listening to the Surfers as a "shock" group, 35 years after I saw them in concert (amazing show, BTW). Are there no more modern equivalents?
I was a teenager when this was new and it was the first mosh pit I jumped in with stone temple pilots and yes we called this acid rock and we took a lot of LSD good times
The Butthole Surfers are an acquired taste, obviously not for you 😂
Loved your reactions Diane, at least you tried it
The best part of the video is watching Diane reevaluating her life choices that led her to this point. Amusement, disdain, disgust, desperation. 🤣
Hey Diane. #1 yes I knew you’ve watched the 1st naked gun movie. It was something you could watch on twitch . Until the camera cable detaches
😂 that is true
Love them! The album weird revolution is great!!!!
lmao!! i can't believe you listened to Gibby Haynes and the gang lol. i started laughing before i even saw the video... fantastic and hilarious reaction, you poor, poor lady...
I can't even get through the name😂 two thumbs up anyway👍👍 thanks Diane?😂
😅
You have to love the name of the band
The art for this video was likely supposed to be reminiscent of Rat Fink, which was an art style in 60s Hot Rod culture.
Yes good old Gibby and the boys. Freaking more out
Diane’s face tells it all when she listens to their song
To say that she hates them, might be a bit strong
She tries to keep an open mind and she plays along
But, The Butthole Surfers are not for her, she thinks their just wrong
You should check out Tommy Johansson (reinxeed).
He's our swedish Lion from the north! With the voice of an Angel.
He's former guitarist in Sabaton and singer/guitarist in Majestica and does covers every week here on youtube.
He does everything by himself and they're epic!
This week he did Beyonce Texas hold'em. Very fun! His version of Cotton eye Joe is hilarious.
I would also recommend She's gone, You raise me up and Phantom of the Opera. But in reality, every song is amazing!
Well, at least we got some facial expressions we hadn't seen before. This would have been better/made more sense on April 1st.
And this was one of their most accessible songs. You REALLY don't want to know what they were getting up to the the mid-'80s.
Thanks for the craic Diane! 😊 I'm not a fan of this group, but I lol'ed at your expressions. 🤣 If you survived this one, you should try "Wynona's Big Brown Beaver" by Primus.
I salute your bravery. Prefer the Cramps myself. oooh
