great video. Clear concise instructions. no pointless words. great editing and speeding up the film in between!
Thank you🙂
This is a great video, my uncle showed me how to change his oil when I was a kid and now that I am an adult I pay someone else but I really wanna stop that because this isn't that hard. I can't wrap my head around why I think I cant do it, hahaha! Thanks a ton! I am going to do it!
I believe in u🙂...the important things is just double check everything making sure the drain bolt and filter are tight...and make sure u add the oil before u start the vehicle and that solves the major worries when doing an oil change.
I'm the same way lol. all these car repair videos make it look so easy and simple but when i open the hood or whatever and try to do what i just saw im like Duh what do i do
Thanks so much. 4 years later this is still helping!!!
Thats great🙂 im so glad to hear it
Best video i found, You have to get a shallow socket like this guy, i had a longer socket and it wont fit past that part to the left at 0:50 seconds into the video
Thank you so much I just changed the oil and didn’t know how you get rid of the change the oil soon..thank you so much God bless you 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👍
I've been paying $60 for this??! Thanks for the video!!!
Thank you for watching:), yea i cant even believe they charge that much for an oil change now.
Ha, love this comment! yes, yes we have
I just dump the whole 5 quarts in and start it and check for leaks around drain plug and filter. Never had a problem with any leaks from blown gaskets or seals.
thanks for including the reset at the end😊
I’ve been learning how to fix on my car (for free) so this was VERY helpful instead of coming out of pocket $50-$60 🙄🙄
Thats awesome🙂
Thank you for an awesome most helpful no extra bs video.
Thank you🙂
Thank you..I would never have figured out how to reset that light..love those gloves
Thank you...glad to be able to help🙂
Thanks for the info on the oil life reset I forgot how to do it!👏👍
Thanks I'm not used to working on new cars so whenever something without this video
Always glad to be able to help:) thank you for ur support
Wow great video, found a new channel to watch when I need car help 😂 thanks man
Thats awesome🙂 thank you the support would be greatly appreciated🙂
I notice you're running synthetic blend, how long before you change your oil again? Thank you in advance.
Well i still change it the same interval 3k to 4k, it keeps the internals of the engine from getting sludge...the longer between oil changes the more risk for sludge build up
@@backyardchevy328 Thanks
thanks man this video was straight to the point and very helpful

wonder if you can help diagnose a couple problems i am having with my 2006 pontiac pursuit, perhaps you may have had the same exp?
1) when i put the car in drive(also i think it happens in reverse too)and let it roll on its own sometimes the eng seems to be struggling as i see the the rpm needle go up n down and can feel the eng like its struggling also when i am driving and come to a stop as im breaking and come to full stop i see the engine rpm needle rev up and back down?
2) when i put the car in drive go forward a bit and hit the breaks i hear a clunking noise ,i put it in reverse and apply the breaks and the same thing happens only when i do any of those this noise happens after that the noise is gone ,it sounds like either the break pads or master cylinder or perhaps the transmission i am not sure but i do not see how the break system has to do with the tranny yet it does happen when i shift gears only ,is there some kind of connection? i did change the rotor and pads myself but not sure if this noise was there before that i can remember ,thanks for any help or advise you can give me
Well the first one sounds like u may wanna try cleaning the idle air control valve and throttle body..should help out those rpms..well what u describe with the clunking i had fixed recently on a van and it ended up being the stabilizer bars...i would check that or the ball joints seems like its any sudden jerk in the suspension that makes it clunk
@@backyardchevy328 ok for the first part i will check out the intake ,someone else also mentioned the same,,,for the second the clunking noise happens only one time once i shift gear from park to drive and apply the breaks that is when the noise happens,,it also happens when i put it in reverse and apply the breaks ,,after that i do not hear it anymore,,only happens after shifting gears and applying the breaks, does not sound like ball joint noise or stabilizer bar ,sounds like metal to metal clunk like something in the u joint or tranny or like my break pads are made of metal and hitting the rotor or something out of line or lose
You, my friend, get a like.
Thank you🙂
Does the engine light comes off after the oil reset? Need answer plsss.cuz I got engine light when i needed oil change

Is the socket for the oil drain plug a 6 point, 15mm socket?
I'm lacking a 15mm socket and extension, so trying to get some info on that.
Also wondering if I can remove the oil filter without the need of an extension?
Thank you kindly!
Yes its a 6 point socket 15mm, but a 12 point socket works on it as well, just 12 points u gotta be more careful about them slipping off cause it could damage corner...the filter can be removed without extension but u dont have as much room to ratchet.
@ Backyard Chevy
Good to know.
I just purchased a well taken care of, 2007 Chevy Cobalt in great condition inside and out, and already changed out transmission fluid and filter, but was lacking a 15mm socket and the 32mm oil filter socket to change the oil.
Was the 32mm filter socket a 6 point as well?
@@user-xi9oe8yw6v thats awesome, its a good car only problem we've had on ours is the ignition module and coils so far 🤞fingers crossed, yea its a 6 point..that one u do wanna make sure u get a 6 point
@ Backyard Chevy
Yeah, I did my research on it for about a month prior to going ahead and purchasing it, and have come across a few issues with these vehicles. I also came across a lot of good things that it's a pretty reliable little engine and does great on fuel.
But for the extremely reasonable asking price from an old, good friend of mine, I just couldn't pass up the offer due to its condition, so I said what the hell.
The only reason he sold it was 'cause he just bought himself a new truck and didn't have the need for a 4th vehicle. I could use a 3rd for my family.
Thank you for your rapid replys brother, really appreciate that! 🔧🚘🔩

What is the oil filter used or can be used?
I used the stp brand which was s9018r...but there are a few you can use for this vehicle..my personal favorite is wix 57082....ac delco is pf457g...and fram is ch9018...any of those can be used...thank you for watching and I hope it helps.
Thanks good Vid!!!!
Thank you so much:)
Subbed!
Thank you🙂 i really appreciate it
What could happen if I put all the oil in at once? My buttons don't work how can change reset light ?
Like adding the recommended without checking it? Well nothing will happen its just safer to know if ur under or overfilled...it can make a difference depending on how well the oil drained..but it wont be too much where itll hurt anything..so no nothing should happen...u can also reset many gm vehicles by turning key to on without starting car...then press gas pedal down to floor and release press again..release and one final time...3 times to floor and release within 5 mins...then turn key off and on and should be reset
@@backyardchevy328 Wow thanks for responding definitely subscribing now ... Yeah I found that start it not all the way , press pedal 3 times in 5 seconds and it worked 👍🏾💪
@@leeroy7729 Anytime🙂 always glad to help when i can...thank you so much for subscribing i really appreciate it🙂
Dosnt the oil filter need oil ??
Normally u would add oil if the filter was facing upwards or angled upwards..but this filter is facing downwards so it wont hold any oil that u add to it.
Everything looked good but you didnt put the gasket back on the oil cap
Gasket on the oil fill cap? That one has a o ring which was left on
Can 10W30 be used instead of 5W30?
No, u shouldnt use a thicker oil like 10w30 because many newer cars have a tensioner which tensions off of the oil pressure, for the timing chain in this case and if u put thicker oil it might not circulate as well when cold and that could cause tensioner to not function as it should.
Also the variable valve timing runs off oil pressure as well and can throw it off with thicker oil.
Is the dude sleeping?😂
👍
Better audio would be nice
Yea it was one of my first videos..ive upgraded everything since
It takes 4.7 quarts of oil not 5
Yea 4.7 quarts is what manual says and it does put u in middle of full and low mark, but i like it at the full level
Backyard Chevy makes sense. Since you said that I will check my girlfriends oil level today when I get home and most likely top it off. Thanks for the quick response
@@Rawhzi yea i prefer the full mark because at higher mileage they burn more oil so that lil extra can make a difference if they dont check oil in between changes.
Ah just to flex I have a lift
Lol
Btw I used 10w30 oil witch is an advantage for my case
@@firecat2465u live in a hotter climate?
Texas is shit so yeah
Can’t flex much, driving a Chevy cobalt. And you’re in Texas
Audio on this is garbage
It was one of my first videos unfortunately, wish i could go back and edit it again
