    This is a great video, my uncle showed me how to change his oil when I was a kid and now that I am an adult I pay someone else but I really wanna stop that because this isn't that hard. I can't wrap my head around why I think I cant do it, hahaha! Thanks a ton! I am going to do it!

      I believe in u🙂...the important things is just double check everything making sure the drain bolt and filter are tight...and make sure u add the oil before u start the vehicle and that solves the major worries when doing an oil change.

    wonder if you can help diagnose a couple problems i am having with my 2006 pontiac pursuit, perhaps you may have had the same exp?
    1) when i put the car in drive(also i think it happens in reverse too)and let it roll on its own sometimes the eng seems to be struggling as i see the the rpm needle go up n down and can feel the eng like its struggling also when i am driving and come to a stop as im breaking and come to full stop i see the engine rpm needle rev up and back down?
    2) when i put the car in drive go forward a bit and hit the breaks i hear a clunking noise ,i put it in reverse and apply the breaks and the same thing happens only when i do any of those this noise happens after that the noise is gone ,it sounds like either the break pads or master cylinder or perhaps the transmission i am not sure but i do not see how the break system has to do with the tranny yet it does happen when i shift gears only ,is there some kind of connection? i did change the rotor and pads myself but not sure if this noise was there before that i can remember ,thanks for any help or advise you can give me

    • @backyardchevy328
      @backyardchevy328  2 роки тому

      Well the first one sounds like u may wanna try cleaning the idle air control valve and throttle body..should help out those rpms..well what u describe with the clunking i had fixed recently on a van and it ended up being the stabilizer bars...i would check that or the ball joints seems like its any sudden jerk in the suspension that makes it clunk

    • @ARCSTREAMS
      @ARCSTREAMS 2 роки тому

      @@backyardchevy328 ok for the first part i will check out the intake ,someone else also mentioned the same,,,for the second the clunking noise happens only one time once i shift gear from park to drive and apply the breaks that is when the noise happens,,it also happens when i put it in reverse and apply the breaks ,,after that i do not hear it anymore,,only happens after shifting gears and applying the breaks, does not sound like ball joint noise or stabilizer bar ,sounds like metal to metal clunk like something in the u joint or tranny or like my break pads are made of metal and hitting the rotor or something out of line or lose

    Is the socket for the oil drain plug a 6 point, 15mm socket?
    I'm lacking a 15mm socket and extension, so trying to get some info on that.
    Also wondering if I can remove the oil filter without the need of an extension?
    Thank you kindly!

    • @backyardchevy328
      @backyardchevy328  5 років тому

      Yes its a 6 point socket 15mm, but a 12 point socket works on it as well, just 12 points u gotta be more careful about them slipping off cause it could damage corner...the filter can be removed without extension but u dont have as much room to ratchet.

      Good to know.
      I just purchased a well taken care of, 2007 Chevy Cobalt in great condition inside and out, and already changed out transmission fluid and filter, but was lacking a 15mm socket and the 32mm oil filter socket to change the oil.
      Was the 32mm filter socket a 6 point as well?

      Yeah, I did my research on it for about a month prior to going ahead and purchasing it, and have come across a few issues with these vehicles. I also came across a lot of good things that it's a pretty reliable little engine and does great on fuel.
      But for the extremely reasonable asking price from an old, good friend of mine, I just couldn't pass up the offer due to its condition, so I said what the hell.
      The only reason he sold it was 'cause he just bought himself a new truck and didn't have the need for a 4th vehicle. I could use a 3rd for my family.

    • @backyardchevy328
      @backyardchevy328  4 роки тому +1

      Like adding the recommended without checking it? Well nothing will happen its just safer to know if ur under or overfilled...it can make a difference depending on how well the oil drained..but it wont be too much where itll hurt anything..so no nothing should happen...u can also reset many gm vehicles by turning key to on without starting car...then press gas pedal down to floor and release press again..release and one final time...3 times to floor and release within 5 mins...then turn key off and on and should be reset

    Can 10W30 be used instead of 5W30?

    • @backyardchevy328
      @backyardchevy328  5 років тому

      No, u shouldnt use a thicker oil like 10w30 because many newer cars have a tensioner which tensions off of the oil pressure, for the timing chain in this case and if u put thicker oil it might not circulate as well when cold and that could cause tensioner to not function as it should.

    • @MultiChimRichalds
      @MultiChimRichalds 5 років тому

      Also the variable valve timing runs off oil pressure as well and can throw it off with thicker oil.
