Just for clarification for any new drivers out there. The RED "parking brake" in NOT a parking brake. Pushing it in supplies air to the trailer, pulling it out cuts off air to the trailer. Do not use it as a parking brake. Use the yellow handle for parking. The trailer does set the brakes when air is cut off with the red handle but they are not always strong enough to hold the truck from rolling. Some trailers, especially old trailers will release the brakes if iar drains from the tank.

Does your truck have an APU? If it does, it's not only for heat/AC, but as long as you have it in stand by, it will start up when your battery level goes below 12.3 volts. It's entire purpose is so you don't have to idle to stay comfortable while only using approximately only 1/2 gallon of fuel in an entire 8 hour of being parked.
I really wish that if the government could do one thing right its mandate that APU's need to be standard with all sleepers. Having power/cooling/heating in something besides the truck's engine is essential to the drivers comfort and health.
I've slept on the top level of a kenworth. Absolutely sweltering during the day in the summer even with AC. If you notice Alex stopped sleeping up top lol.
Alex, that Aerodyne design your T680 has was developed by Kenworth in the 1970s as one of the first "condo' sleepers. It was first used on the K100 cabover. The T680 alone was a very creative design by Kenworth. I think that Kenworth really have some talented artists at their office not too far from Seattle. The windows in the doors we could say came from Sterling, and the dash came from two GMC products. The driver's area was from the GMC Brigadier and the passenger side was to pay homage to the GMC fishbowl bus. Now for me, I come from an era when the GMC Brigadier was in production, many transit agencies bout thousands of GMC fishbowl buses. I used to ride the GMC fishbowl bus on several transit routes in my hometown. The trucks that ran in regular service when I was a teenager often had the steel dashboards. When Kenworth made the K200 for Australian trucking companies, they did it again but made the dash to pay homage to the GMC Astro 95. When I was your age, Kenworth still had the flat dashboard in the W900, and the T800. They also made the T600 that also had the flat dash as well. Your's is much easier to handle since you don't have to deal with the center "A" pillar in the windshield. The trucks of my era did have them.

You might want to go through your manual and understand what all the switches are for on the dash and then when and how to use them...... if you have an engine fan switch it's definitely handy to know when to use it, especially if you drive through mountains on a hot day. The yellow knob is your parking brake, that's the knob you should be using all the time when you park. It activates both the tractor and the trailer spring parking brakes. You push the trailer air supply knob in after connecting your trailer, and that knob should ALWAYS remain in and never pulled out unless and until you are about to release your trailer. I'm not a trucker but I got to drive a free-wheelin tractor a couple hundred yards a few times in the loading dock lot where I used to work...... with an Eaton 12 speed. No the engine fan cools the engine. Your breaks are the right lever where you switch gears. You pull down or up to use your engine breaks. You new truckers need to learn the controls in your trucks.
Have you considered maybe getting a little "Jackery" or a "Bluetti" portable generator? For cooking and stuff I mean... That might be exactly what you need 😉.
@cali gdp My bad... It's called a jackery generator so I just assumed that once you charge it with the solar panels, it generates electricity... Because that's what it does. It's a rechargeable battery-powered generator... Why are we splitting hairs?

Id advice getting a fireproof bag for important papers with a emergency phone it works
Could you tell me where you get that grill I really want to eat healthy, eating out is almost like gambling you never know if the food's going to be fresh or hot most of the time it's old.
Nice love the videos keep up the good work
Hey bro can you give some more information on that GPS you have? The one you said accounts for the weight/length of the tractor/trailer?
learned so much from this video, like even grill recs and seasoning recs lol. Question, do you use something for movies and videogames, and if so do you know of anything that improves the experience with your lifestyle
Nice truck, congrats my friend!
8:55 nothing like putting fresh steak on what looks to be a few days dirty cooktop..lol
I'm surprised you haven't cooked outside. If I was an OTR driver I would be cooking outside and setup a chair and enjoy some sun.
I say I would too but my ass would end up cooking while laying down
American trucks have huge space. If you switch from a European model to an american model it feels like moving from a dog shed to a luxury villa. Hang in there Alex
The thing you called an engine fan is the engine brake. It uses the engine to slow down your truck rather then the conventional brakes
No the engine fan cools the engine. Your breaks are the right lever where you switch gears. You pull down or up to use your engine breaks. You new truckers need to learn the controls in your trucks.
Outstanding interior Amazing 😍
9 months ago I was watching UA-cam videos about trucking and now I'm driving one
# the best trucker
Your more than halfway there ...👍👍👍😎
Seems like you have everything you need in your truck for simple life.
Don’t your truck has the auxiliary power unit fitted?
Cracker barell has good truck parking close to riding trails in the south east when your passing through give it a try
Alex, your videos are amazing, maybe do a cooking video POV?
Dude you're one funny guy. Love the video
The best steak seasoning is the grill mates brown sugar bourbon.
Hi Alex would you like to go on the big snowt podcast let me know if I will give a some more info

Have you ever considered removing the passenger’s seat to create more room?
His company probably won't allow that
how is variant doing after usxpress shut that company down???
Awesome bro... everytime I see your companies truck... I'm looking for you!! Lol
What a great video! It’s like you read my mind!!!!!
In the olden days you had real drivers. This dude is a real deal on what today's drivers are. No brain and no iQ. Just cooking and sleeping. Cant fix wires, cant change a wheel, dont know anything about the buttons on the dash. CB is just "from the movies". I feel sorry for the new generation.
Wow who shit in your coffee? Times change boomer
CO2 is heavier than air, so the CO2 detector needs to be low near the floor. You will want it to go off while you still have oxygen to breath.
All alarms in houses in the UK are high on the wall, and newer fire alarms have them built in, and they are on the ceiling
@@Georgie94 Yep, I am wrong on this. CO2 may be heavier than air, but CO is slightly lighter that air. A brain fart on my part. Those are CO detectors, not CO2 detectors. Thanks for the inspiration to dig a bit deeper. Mounting them high is good practice.
Does variant have free classes or do you have to pay to take the classes
Sup Alex keep up the good work
Is this your new truck your other one had electrical issues and still never saw your new truck or did you even get a new truck because you went to Vegas
