I've learned a lot over the past year from you and I caught my pb common that was 20.75lbs last week. It took me a year to find a spot and it required me to use my kayak to find them and to fish from. Sort of a pain using carp rig in a swaying kayak (even though I staked it down). The long spans of time staying still in the yak was worth it. Thanks for your video that got me to this point. I addicted to carp!
As always good stuff Karl , I loved the latest American film and really noticed how your craft has progressed with the cinematography and the little differences in style and production from when Alex was with you. As you just said perseverance is key and it's great to see the channel evolving. Happy for you mate. Looking back when my Carp fishing and all fishing actually really levelled up was when I started studying my watercraft. Understanding the venue, depth, what the beds made up from, types of weed and how they grow. What natural food is available at different times of year , weather, air pressure , current or flow of the water . It goes on and on but quite a lot of folk I see seem to treat one venue the same as any other. Not only did my fishing improve but as I got more into understanding the natural world in general so an appreciation and love for it I didn't have before emerged. For example I was fishing a big pond down in the west country about fifteen years back and I blanked the first four sessions . Frustrated but engaged I hit up google and researched the history of the venue and learnt that there had been a small brewery adjacent to the back of the lake that had closed around five years previous. Looking at some old plans I made out that there would have been an overflow and run off from the wastage system that will have ended up in soaking into the earth and likely filter through into the lake bed. I learnt the brewery made ale exclusively and diving deeper I found a couple of old recipes for what they produced. Next session I went and brought a big bag of hops and another of barley , which I soaked and mixed into a big bucket of ground bait. It was like I was at a completely different venue. I had eleven fish, 5 doubles and my first Carp over 20lb. I was like a dog with two dicks and it was a real awakening as to what I needed to be doing if I wanted to have more sessions the same. that will be my comment for the year then 🤐 Thanks Karl, be lucky.

I'll use some of the tips given in this and other videos and let you know lol. I will spend time over there just watching. As all my grandsons will be coming down over the summer. Look for big fish in waters with big fish seems such a no brainer when said out loud, but sometimes the obvious needs saying to make it obvious. It was good seeing cal out with you across the pond by the way. Maybe if we're lucky, this year Alex will be up for the trip too.
Bro there is big carp about 6-7kg may be more...in a pond near by .....so plz help regarding bait preparation so that I would catch one in my life......the pond is muddy...I want to experience such challenges....I'm dreaming to catch one...plz help....from India....
Hay bro very good and informative video and very well explained thnxs. One request can you make a video on how to cast long in braided and monofilament fishing line.
Well you taught me something and I've been carp fishing for 20 years 😂 . The point on different parts of the lake where makes and females will frequent. Got me thinking 🤔
Hi Everyone, your videos have enspiered me to get back into carp fishing after more than 20 years, I am hoping to go with my 2 sons in July, can't wait. Do you have a video on how to safly remove a hook from a fishs mouth?...could you make one? Any tips, other that don't fall in the water?
John Baker talks about baits for big carp in one of his podcasts. There's a study showing older fish have better taste receptors so they are more easily spooked when picking up (over) flavoured baits and don't need high levels of attraction.
I caught my pb carp in a small park pond. Only 25 m in length and 3 m/7 m in width. Even tough i thought i would catch small ones, i got a big mirror of 75 cm and 8/9.5 kilo's. My pb, from a small park pond. I've seen people fishing for carp on the bigger canals and rivers, mostly for 2 days in order to catxh 1 or 2 big carp. I caught mine pb carp in the second most smallest pond in the entire region, in only 13 minutes. You don't have to go to the big waters and spent days in order to catch big carp, the big carp are also in your local pond!
Hi im after some advice im fishing a lake where you can only fish hookbaits no groundbaits, pva bags etc literally just your hookbait. I usually use pva bags personally i use them because i feel more confident my rig wont be tangles on cast so my question is what do i need to do to rig wise or anything else to know im not going to be tangled on cast thank you.
At my local Reservoir, there are a few Grass Carp. I’m yet to catch one. Any advice on how to target them? I’ve tried to look online for advice, some say early morning as the sun rises. Others say float bread or a triple sweetcorn pop up. Could you add any advice? Thank you.

I was gutted! They also have a specimen lake which I will fish this year with carp up to 30lb, So I am going down there with two of carp rods and bait alarms and see if I can beat get my personal best of 22lb
@@kevinscott9196 I fished that about 15 years ago or so, it’s lovely set of lakes. I fished puddle dock farm yesterday, I want to try Tyler’s at some point.
Hi Lads :) I was wondering if anyone can advise… after spending a few hours on internet it’s seems that every lake, river swamp belongs to someone with a million rules … is there any free river or lake where I could take my family with me and fish , have a sensible picnic ( using barbed hooks and unhooking mat ofc ) with just a fishing license? Many thanks in advance.
I"ve been using boilies and corn since 1st of january when i got my carp rod, and yesterday i switched to a pop up and got my first bite but it didn't connect :(
