it got pretty bad last time ive gone, it was my first time fishing method feeder for carp, it was cold, i lost 3 feeders to branches inside water, broke my net rod on accident while stepping on it, fell of a chair and at that poin i was done almost got tears in my eyes and i said you know what if i don't catch is ok im not gonna stress anymore because i was mentaly done and as soon as that thought went through my head i was sitting in chair and small carp (35cm) starts to slowly take my line out of baitrunner and i hooked up after that i got hope and didn't quit and some 2 hours later i got my PB (60cm and 3.8 kg) and i was happy as a kid on christmas :) i packed the stuff and went home
Nice one Carl . Just a single bait normally I go for but it’s hard to get your mind around that, but it works . Or if you’re not confident on that a very small PVA bag will do it. But all what you are saying is all you need to know 👍
I’m from Crawley sorry to hear about the hypothermia though where is your favroite place to fish in Crawley?! Very curious Mines Woodpeckers’s personally
Loved the video! I’m planning on going fishing at this fishery near me that has some 30 lb+ carp in it or as I like to call them “water potatoes” sometime this winter and this video really helped!
Great vid. I just did an overnighter at a large lake with limited swims and a) it was freezing. I had 2 sleeping bags, a blanket, wore a hat, hoodie, jumper, t-shirt, vest, thermal joggers, 2 pairs of socks and had a hot water bottle in there and I still woke a few times because of the cold. It's no joke and b) I blanked. Limited swims so unable really move and zero fish sign meant it was just chance and luck was not on our side today, but hopefully once the temp settles the fish will acclimatise and move around a bit more.
The carp in my area are not very big, but the adventure makes up for it definitely. I tried to fish in the winter now in february, and all I caught was a mid sized bream, but it was so much fun, I have to admit. The thing is I have yet to catch a carp since I started fishing cuz none of the waters near me are too good, but Im definitely not giving up. Im hoping for a great summer for fishing. Also I caught the bream at night. For some reason the fish are more active at night (even tho its winter lol).
hi carl i have seen all your youtube videos and my friends watch you too so i don't want them to recognize me but i just want to say that your videos have helped me through some not so good times when i have had depression and i would just like to thank you for making the videos you make and I have been better because of your vidoes, you are living my dream life on camera and im so sad i will never get to meet you because i live in denmark. i hope you and omi have a great week
Hey, here's a tip from me in the winter I like to use alcohol-based liquid. Its work much bedder in cold water. Tomorrow I'm going to a lake where I've been feeding for 3 days. I'm curious to see if I catch something
@@karpfen_kaiser Wicked well done mate👍🏻 What liquid did you use? Im thinking of using baileys this winter but i’ve never used alcohol based liquids before.
Love your holding neoprene straps on your fishing rods, where did you get them? Hoping to catch my first glane this winter, quite a challenge with no boat
Hey i know a lake where there are not a lot of carp but there are definitely some so is it worth fishing there? Almost no people fish there for carps but there are definitely big grass carps
hey thanks for the tips but I have a tip for you if your car lock is frozen don't throw warm water over it because that wil make ik freeze it more next time you try and open it so maybe some oil or something else that have a low freezing point so next time it won't freez even more
Video suggestion… You should dedicate an entire video to playing and bringing in larger fish.. you do a great job of showing snippets of this, but I think for newer anglers who’ve never caught a double digits, or higher fish.. hooking into something with some aggression they are going to struggle to fight the urge to just reel in - which may end in a line break, or hook pull.. I am trying to coach a friend through what to do, but it relies on us being on a lake with a good stock of double digits fish, while also trying to help him get some bites in general..
I love Omi's drawings. Maybe you could produce a book of her art and sell it through your channel? As for travelling light, I use Rigged and Ready equipment; it's amazing what you can catch with it.
Ah that's lovely to hear :) - we may think about some kind of fish art book with all of the drawings in, probably once we've finished the Advanced Fishing Guidebook.
I'll reel in and re-cast if I'm confident I should have had a bite, but havent. Normally though, I'll be happy to leave the rods out for 24hrs on a tricky venue!
Hi Carl it’s josh (again) I’ve been wondering what bivvy you would recommend I save up for as I’m on a small fishing budget. I would really like to get a better one so my mates arnt freezing and they can develop a love for the sport
Some people think a sweet flavoured bait is better in winter, but personally I haven't observed a specific reaction to different flavours in different temps. That said, a high protein bait will fill the fish up quicker than something carb based, so that's worth considering! :)
Hi Carl I love your videos they helped me catch my first big carp this summer a 10 pound common and they inspire me to continue fishing this winter also have you got any tips for catching carp in small ponds that haven’t been fished mutch
If anything this reinforced my decision to pack up my carp gear - I just HATE sitting out in the cold waiting for one bite that never comes 🥶 Lots of respect for those who fish through winter, I just can’t do it.
Out right now had to set up in the dark cuz of work😂 had no bites till late last night woke up late on strike went into the snags ain't had any in the day have 3 water bottles n a gas heater lol tight lines lads

I think most of us agree, alcohol based liquid is mandatory when fishing 😂
did you manage to catch in the end mate?

Can you catch tench in Winter or bream? Dont have any carp lakes close to me:(
I believe so, but like all winter fishing it’s much harder… I think pike are good in winter?
Tench will certainly be a struggle in winter
Tench in winter are very hard, bream slightly easier. Pike are a great target tho!
