Carp fishing is really fun and easy. I bring my friends out fishing who dont fish often and they are just blown away by the size and how easy it is to catch em. Good times.
Sometimes you do. In the summertime Sweet Corn or Hominy will work great, because the hot weather depletes their salt, and they seek it out. But in the early spring and late fall, other baits work FAR better, and canned corn often won't work at all. Carp are remarkably picky in what they eat, when, and why. Been a lot of fun figuring them out. But what works on the lakes/rivers I fish, might not work as well in other waters. Sometimes Pop-Up Corn with sweet attractants works. Sometimes they'll touch nothing but boilies. Sometimes Corn/Hominy will catch the lion's share. Just gotta keep trying things.
SO excited YOU DID A DIFFERENT SPECIES, don't get me wrong I LOVE your catfish videos. But LOVE THE CHANGE UP!!!!! So awesome to see a different species.
You're a trooper. 3 morning sessions with a real solid pre-spawn bite going on, and I'm exhausted. A 200-pound session will wear you out! Love those Carp.

Thanks for giving us some variety. I've had a lot of fun sight casting to carp with a fly rod. I put a little scent on a dry fly. No trout ever fought so hard!
I've caught 2,800+ pounds of Carp so far this season. Started targeting them 7 or 8 years ago, never looked back. They're so much fun. Not only are they fun to battle (great strength and endurance), but they're fun to figure out. Their dietary needs change radically throughout the season, and as conditions change. Figuring out what will catch them, at various times of year, and under varying conditions, has been a blast. If you've never tried it, give it a shot. I imagine you'll quickly gain an appreciation for this fish.
I went through a spell when I was really young where carp were the main thing I wanted to catch. Super easy to catch big fish, and a lot of fun! The only tournament I’ve ever won (I’ve only ever done 2 tournaments) was a carp fishing tournament!

Haven't actively fished for carp since I was a kid. One of those fish I forgot about. Thanks for renewing that interest. Gonna go do that after work this week. Fun video.
You do it exactly how I carp fish. When fishing is slow and I want something to kick in the adrenaline, I rig up and do exactly as you do. Sometimes, I'll add garlic salt to the corn as well. They are some hard fighting fish.
There are only a couple of lakes in my state that have carp, and further, it's illegal to use corn as bait, but carp fishing is something I've always heard good things about. They fight like no other fish alive, and being considered an invasive species, there are no regulations on them. I've seen special carp baits in Bass Pro.
You can also use nightcrawlers if any of the specialized baits aren't working for ya or are too expensive (I dunno, never used carp bait from the store). All the ones I've caught were while I was going for bullheads and channel cats using worms.
Justin, never thought I'd see you carp fishing! Your rig, bait, and method are one of the very best for carp--can't beat sweet corn! They are strong fighters, which is one of the reasons I enjoy targeting them. There are some carp-worshipers that won't approve of your using them for bait, but I'm not among 'em! Carp on--even if only in pursuit of giant cats!
Justin this video was ace. I agree with you about just using basic fishing tackle to catch carp. I don't use boilies fancy hair rigs, no nothing like that just the similar set up you use. I even catch carp by float fishing too. Carp are a great fish that gives an angler a good fight and by golly its a great feeling. Thanks, I hope you produce more carp catching content.
Anchoring up and catching them from the yak is awesome. Very underrated fish. I fish for them and Gar while the kitties are a he’n and she’n. Would love to see some more carp videos.
I use the same rig here in South Australia for carp and many salt water fish. It is the simplest rig possible and here it's just called a running rig. Stick a circle hook on the end and let the fish catch itself. In Australia they are a noxious fish and can not be returned to any water way. They are not often eaten but do make great fertilizer for the vegetable garden. A very strange bait I use for carp is red raspberry licorice. Carp love sweet stuff and this is great. Just get small bits like corn size slide onto hook cast and be surprised.

Carp are really great freshwater fish to angle: they get decently sized (all the ones I've caught have been over 10 lbs.), they put up a helluva fight, and they are a welcome surprise when you're fishing for bluegill or cats... since they hit crawfish, shrimp, and worms. Light tackle, medium tackle: doesn't matter. I had a 20 pounder hit my catfish rod that I loaded up with two big nightcrawlers on a circle hook a couple weeks ago. That was an exhausting, exhilirating fight. The pain was netting the thing as I fishing from a pier about ten feet above the water.
This is how I fish for carp. A good ole fashioned Carolina rig, a #4, and some Jolly Green Giant sweet corn. The most important piece of gear is the rod holder. Seen many rods take off like torpedoes into the lake.

I've used carp a few times here in Texas and never caught much on it. That cats here like shad mostly. I've used beef liver, chicken liver, chicken heart, shad, sunfish, mullet, carp, freshwater drum and worms. The best to use are shad, livers, hearts, and worms in my areas
My wife and I used to use little two-man rafts and we pull up under the awning in a boat marina fish for carp and catfish with dough balls when we catch a big one we then tie and let them pull us around the marina it was great fun.
If you're in an area that has them, Gar can be a great Cat bait, too. Just need some heavy-duty scissors to slice through their armor. Then unwrap the skin like a jacket. Get a nice lengthy piece of bait, most of which has some guts in it.
You can also use dough balls or bread they love it I make my own dough balls and it never ever come off the hook when I case it or when it sits in the water it’s a secret receipt my great great great grandpa gave me
We keep it simple in australia carp fishing, we use wide gap circle hooks sometimes just un weighed or just a small sinker running rig . Our best bait is worms , bread only 6 ft of the bank . We not allowed to put carp back in our waters or we get a big fine
Forgot how much these guys pull. Used your pack bait method and hooked into one that ripped my snap swivel right apart after many brutal pulls. Guess what I'm not using anymore. I was just goofing with corn and pack bait on the sinker after fishing bullhead cats.

If you're in an area that has them, Gar can be a great Cat bait, too. Just need some heavy-duty scissors to slice through their armor. Then unwrap the skin like a jacket. Get a nice lengthy piece of bait, most of which has some guts in it.
Listening to you talking to the catfish was funny man. “Go on and get big so we can do this again”
Love me some carp fishing they put up hell of a fight
Awesome mate, love the carp you guys get in the states. In NZ we get some koi that keep their colours. Really cool got some footage on my channel too
Ironic because I was catching carp yesterday haha. Keep doing what your doing man, by far my favorite fishing UA-camr.
You should totally make a kayak carp fishing channel
This was a great video. I can't believe I missed the 1st showing! Next time show the cast netting! I'm new to it!
We not allowed to put carp back in our waters or we get a big fine
rough day fishing, all I caught was big fish! Great video.
Carp are fighting fish, never fails when you want small ones you catch big ones. Great video.
Forgot how much these guys pull. Used your pack bait method and hooked into one that ripped my snap swivel right apart after many brutal pulls. Guess what I'm not using anymore. I was just goofing with corn and pack bait on the sinker after fishing bullhead cats.
“Go get big for me so we can do it again some day” very wholesome haha
Great video brother. Man pound for pound those things are strong. Thanks for sharing
