I’m kind of a newbie to fishing and there’s a lil carp spot near me so I wanted to learn how to catch them, this video really helped me and I caught my first carp!
You will only want to fish for Carp now. Once you catch a few 15 - 20 pounders, all other small freshwater fish will seem like a waste of time. I just got a 14 pounder in Ohio yesterday plus 5 others right from shore at a local public park.
AnotherAnglingMan UK it’s how agressive they are. That’s what I love about perch. There everywhere and super agressive yet still give a bit of a challenge
Make sure your hook is not to big but big enough to cach one I normaly use a 10 or 12 depending on the size of fish in the lake but if there is really big fish such as 25 30 pounders use a 6 or 8 hook
Loved the video! Straight forward explanation and easy to understand tactic. I've been trying to learn how to catch carp on boilies/zigs/solid PVA bags, but I always keep one rod reserved for sweet corn! I agree, it's tried and tested for sure. Thanks - Joe
@@fishwithcarl I agree (re: corn), but I'm def not giving up teaching myself how to use UK-Style tactics/bait/and gear. In fact, I literally just received a 6ft. 2lb t/c Nash cork- handle Sawn-off for stalking etc... After watching so many UK anglers (Alan Blair among others) have tons of success with Sawn-offs I decided to bite the bullet and add to my Carp gear addiction!!! I know - I'm crazy!!! The problem I have is the lack of professional carp anglers (familiar with UK tactics etc..) located in the US who can offer tips/advice on how to best use this gear/rigs/ etc... No worries, after catching a nice size dark Common (a PB and my first Winter Carp) recently (on my own, using a single Nash Squid hook-bait) I'm building the confidence slowly but surely, that i can learn. Patience is the key!!!!
Plain wheaties crunched up and add little water , makes a hard packed ball and carp here in the USA love it . Also we cover the hook here because the fish can feel the hook if it’s exposed
Thanks for sharing this video. I forgot how effective sweet corn is. I've been struggling to catch on a local lake using all sorts of boilies, watched this video, tried 3 pieces of corn on a hair and caught a perfect 27lb common this morning!
Hi that was a beautiful fish from a nice small lake. It just goes to show carping can be as simple as you want. Maybe not for the really big fish on pressured waters but for normal fishing it’s great. Regards Bill
love your videos, just recently started watching, im new to carp fishing and your vids and knowledge have helped me get sorted, i caught a 13lbs common from a day ticket lake near me, followed by a 6lbs mirra , all thanks to your advice on bait , rigs, casting and general stealth approach, keep up the good work, you are both a credit to your family and brilliant at what you do.
Hey Alex, so happy when I get a post from Carl and Alex Fishing on Friday mornings (I usually watch on Saturday mornings)! I want to start a campaign to get you guys to 100K subs, you guys are so underrated, you have excellent content, killer background tunes and serious charisma. Thanks for the vid. Cheers!
i live on a river with a canal on each side and in both bodies of water the carp get huge and you can regularly see them feeding up on the bank. ive always wanted to fish for them now there's no excuse. great video and music
Just shows everyone you don’t need fancy boilies and £11 a kg to catch carp and have a good time on the bank, perfect vid to show everyone who feels priced out of this carp market that the basics still work👍🏻👍🏻
I'm no way as good at fishing as you guys, but I have found tinned corn works far better than fresh corn. Have I been lucky so far? Great video as always.
I noticed carp fishing that when I put corn on the hair they would eat the corn and not hook. But when I put kernels on the hook I started hooking then super easy😆
Perfect video , lots of great informations , especially reading the bag of corn 😂. I thought because of the rain , you were going to just stick the fishing rod out the window of the van and fish from inside the van 😁
Any recommendations on spin reels ? I want at least 300 yards of 30 lb test mono and would like a bait runner . Shimono baitrunner 6000 is the only one I’m finding but I see most carpers using big Daiwa gold and black reels , what are they .
I tend not to use sweetcorn as much anywhere now as it attracts bream & most places I fish have bream in them, but if it hasnt got em in, definitely a good bait! Also what pond is it where this was?
Maul berry’s are also very good carp bait around where I live because they fall off trees and carp eat them off the surface, they float similar to the corn
Thanks for making a nice, informative video about baiting and fishing sweet corn. This past summer I did a lot of freelining with sweet corn on the hook because of frequent thunderstorms, and I caught a lot of carp and had a lot of fun doing so! So much so, that even when I'm Euro carping, I still take along a freelining or float rod to fish while I'm waiting for a bite on the Euro rods. Sometimes the Euro rods remain untouched, while the freelined (or float) rods produce. Long live sweet corn!
Hey Guys thank you so much for making this video im only 11 and you know that means that i do not make so much money so thanks for showing me that i dont need to spend 10000000 $ for 2 pound boiles
Hey serious question. Came across your channel today, I have a lake behind my house in New Jersey and I was bass fishing today and discover a huge cove led into from a small stream. The water is maybe a foot or two absolute max. And I swear, I saw about 20 carp today feeding around calmly, some of them are huge and I need to catch these. Any tips for a beginner? Don’t have equipment like you in this video.
Andrew Knight Keep your tackle simple but strong, especially as these are wild carp and they fight like dogs! Bait the spots you want to fish and keep checking them to see if your bait is being eaten. If it is, keep the bait going in regularly and fish it when they are confident eating your bait. Good luck and let us know how you get on 🤘🏼
So not to stroke myself but I have a pond where I catch about 15 carp a day...every day lol this being said do I just have a honey hole or are they just easier to catch in the US
It would work on a river too, providing there are good numbers of carp around! I'd also consider throwing the corn out up stream, as it will be carried along by the flow a bit. :)
For me I don’t even I don’t even throw any bait in I just put a few weights on the line a float and one piece of corn on the hook and I catch fish :) yesterday I did that on my pole , threw it out as far as I could and got a fish every few seconds , I even caught abt 25 fish with no bait and only the hook ! That day I caught 61 fish !!!
Corn always reminds me of breaking my ankle.Did it whilst pre baiting a pond id found with carp in,at the back of an unbuilt industrial estate. Got pinned and plated for my trouble and haven't been back to try for em since. Think I owe myself banking one from there.
I've explained why I'll buy like ten cans of corn at one time to the cashier's before. One of them goes fishing with her husband all the time so she always has pictures of fish to show me. Unfortunately the water is so hot and it's almost 100 degrees F outside right now so the carp are staying out deep even at night. In another month they will be back shallow again. When you fish 15,000 acre lake from shore sometimes the fish just aren't there.

Corn has always been my bait of choice. The best thing about it is you can keep a few cans of corn in your car and they never go bad so no need to buy bait when you randomly feel like fishing. A entire can can last you a whole day as long as you don’t bait the water to much too. 50 cents for a whole day of fishing isn’t to bad

Underrated? Many ppl in my country use it. It's basically a budget pellet :)
The method you use to catch fish in your country is addicting to watch. Your love for fishing makes the videos enjoyable as well.

excellent once again Alex goes to show when you can, pre-bait more than one area looks pretty much you had the place to yourself.
