I don't know about you But the way Freddie's voice sounds worn, tired and broken gives it a very special touch. My favorite version of the song
Agreed. I’m aware his vocals seemed to have peaked between 79 and 82, though I find his later performances sounding more natural and reserved. The more mellow songs, such as this one, seem to take advantage of the warmer vocals, whereas the cleaner and more powerful voice from the years prior suits the band’s heavier numbers.
Seen this many times before but for some reason I felt the tiredness of his voice & even a much lower voice & performance 🎭. Comments have said it all. I’m probably older than most ppl on here(71) but there NO generation cap when it comes to there music 🎶. ‼️I am grateful that I got to see. hear all the Greatist music 🎵. But Queen was the BEST ‼️. Freddie was the greatest ever. I have it set up that this song 🎵 will be played at my Celebration of Life when I die. ❤❤❤ love u Freddie….. u will sing me back home. 🎶🎵🎤🎹🎼🎸
I know Freddie didn't officially get diagnosed with Aids till 87 but I think this is a sign that the band wouldn't be touring much longer

This performance is undoubtedly the best bohemian rhapsody concert.
No… despite being a quite emotional version, he sounds rough on spots, Frejus from the same year was MUCH better.
I prefer early version, especially 75-76, they're very emotional and have unique phrasing

In retrospect, his voice was more thinner and less masculine than the 80’s. So I agree that his voice sounded slightly better earlier in his career.
Not even close. This performance is full of pitch correction or overdubs. The best of them all is Glasgow or Newcastle 79.

There has never been a better singer than Freddie. We lost a real star when he left us. Live or studio he made Queen sound always like Queen with his vocals and the musical abilities of all of the band. Together they were and, to me, always will be the greatest band I will ever see in my lifetime.

Got to see them in 1976 maybe 77. Super tramp opened for Queen at the Beacon theater NYC. Loved them then and still love them to this day!!!!

@@JesonWu-z9d Your opinions, or those of the forums? Why were they best? Because Freddie hit the high notes in them? I'm embarrassed to be a Queen fan these days, with people who never even saw Queen live deciding for everyone which this or that was best. Queen shows were all about entertainment, not hitting the same notes as in the studio.
@@barrymitchell6444 It’s not just the high notes, but also the overall tone that he had, both are the contributors for a great version of this song; just think of it this way, if the 1979 Crazy Tour shows were all released in Rock Montreal or Budapest quality, then MANY people will get to hear this song in top form, will there still be as much people praising Rock Montreal, Wembley or Budapest as the greatest performances as today (without adding “in my opinion”)?
@@JesonWu-z9d My apologies for confusing you with the people who rate Mercury's voice on every damn song, praising or slamming him for hitting or not hitting high notes.
@@JesonWu-z9d I appear to rate concerts and songs differently to others. In the case of Bo Rhap, the guitar solo would also have to be great, ideally close to the original. I often hear certain shows were the best in late 1979. But the sound quality is so poor, I rarely play them. Official live releases are much better quality, but they're all fake. I loved Live Killers in June 1979, but never play it now, knowing the songs are bits from various nights pieced together. Whether your favourite versions of Bo Rhap are better or not than 'doctored' official versions is down to personal opinion. But at least they're genuine, as heard on the night.

NOOOOO… They have to release the actual good concerts (like Hammersmith 1979, Oakland/San Diego 1980, 2nd São Paulo 1981, Frejus 1986), instead of keep re-releasing the same old stuff (with overdubs and without many of the good vocal performances from the era)!
